1:25 Jake doesn’t want to give a clear answer regarding the attributes because it’s a bad position, it’s the worst position on the attributes in all of Sunni thought. There’s a PHD dissertation which was the first in divinity on this question in ibn taymiyyah’s theology called, “the metaphysics of the idea of god.” It highlights how Ibn taymiyyah conceives of the attributes as being the most basic and general categorical universals of species, which exist as self generated genus’ in gods essence, where they are identical with and conceptually distinct from the essence, but really distinct from one another. And these attributes exist eternally actualized by god’s knowledge and will to substantiate gods perpetual activity in the particularization of creatures. So there’s no potency in god, he’s wholly actual eternally creating from eternity to eternity but the world is finite. Jake doesn’t want to give a concise exposition of what he believes because he knows it’s illogical. I’m more disappointed having to search for more ibn taymiyyah material and seeing we could’ve gotten a much better debate, though the outcome would’ve been the same.

pretty sure this is covered in the debate, but it's basically asking the proponent of self-evident truth how he knows said self-evident truths are so. he can either answer they just are, and is therefore arbitrary and there is no reason we can't take the opposite stance for the same reason, or he gives reasons for their truth, making them no longer self-evident.

Ok thanks Carl, So I Personally do believe In self-evident truth but the truth maker of self evident truth is linked to God as the Justifier and Grade Zero Reasoning Skills of the human person.

Well I mean Muslims still can’t answer what’s the criteria if we’re 7th century Arab and they tell us to check the Quran with the Torah and gospel. If those have been corrupted and they back up the Quran doesn’t that reveal the flaw?
the superchat 🤣
Do you know what that is in reference to?
And I love how he just leaves it up lol.
Jake’s response to this:
” Nuh-uh “
The whole time Jake's not even listening 😂
Hopefully Jake comes back to Apostolic Christianity. We should all pray for him though.
Was he once a Christian
