As a kid I always read about the greatness of MGS in gaming magazines. I found a copy of MGS and decided to give it a shot. It was a life changing game and it is still arguably my all-time favorite game due to it's story and movie like cinematography.
GOATED. FF7-9/Tactics. MGS. RE1-3. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. The rest of the games inspired by them and this generation are responsible for grasping a hold over me and making me an eternal gaming enthusiast. Through thick and thin, they showed me the potential of this media and they never let go. Video related citricism: please lower the background music/audio a little bit. I'm not 100% fluent in english and it made it hard to hear/understand you sometimes
@@slavicgaming If you're a funny guy and you know the game well you should be fine man. Just make sure the editing is appropriate and the voice is clean (my voice pops a lot in these videos which is why I bought a new pop filter) and you should be fine :)
Great video! I remember I would always troll the second Sniper Wolf fight with the Nikita launcher. As soon as the fight starts, go all the way to the right and use the hill as cover. Snake is invincible. Wolf is unable to hit Snake from this spot, so you can unleash Nikita rockets until Wolf dies. Probably one of the easiest boss fights in video game history, and this is coming from someone who is dreadful at video games 🎮👍😆
This was great, though I think you shouldn't think about spoilers in this type of content, if someone's sitting down for an hour to listen to analysis about MGS1, I think they're probably fine with you going over spoilers!
5:20 Wait a minute. Snake originally had his jump spin kick combo from MGS2 in the beta of MGS1? I wonder why they changed it. The MGS2 combo was always my favorite out of the franchise (next to Big Boss' MMA style mix up in Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain).
Very impressed, u have earned my sub. I am excited for the future of this channel!!! I think you have a place on this platform... Now all you have to do... Is get more people to notice 🤞
Great video mate.. On a truly brilliant game.. I'm debating picking up the HD collection and seeing if it still holds up as well... I remember thinking the 3rd might be better but last time I played it I thought some parts of it were stupid..... Eva riding a bike up ocelot face etc. I know the game isn't completely grounded into reality I still don't like some daft things. Whereas the first has moments of supernatural.. It doesn't bother me.... Great game... The psycho mantis fight shit me up as a kid... Him telling me I liked suikoden 😂
Late to this but if you're still looking at comments would you mind telling us where abouts in Ireland you were from? Loved this vid about my favourite game and its class that a fellow Irishman is behind it
Just a little constructive criticism for future videos - the music is a little too loud and distracting. Not terribly so, but feels like I have to try really hard to focus on what you're saying. If possible, it might be good to swell the music at certain points, but fade it quietly into the background for the majority of the time when you're talking.
Are we just going to pretend that the Metal Gear Solid series' storytelling is good, when it boils down to terrible exposition dumps and with some very cringey, anime-like and overall questionable charracters, nonsensical convoluted plots and so on? Yes, what is good about the series (the gameplay), is really good and inovative, but Kojima's fanboys tend to oversell these games to the moon, like they're some divine gaming revelation. Well, sorry but they're nothing close to that, just a series of good games, and that's it. Only anime emo fanboys think they're masterpieces in storytelling, but these people don't understand good storytelling to begin with, if they think countless exposition dumps is the way to tell a good story.

Really well said and I know what you mean!

Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite games of all time. The Psycho Mantis boss blew my mind, the way it broke the 4th wall.
And there is no Snake without Hayter
Great video my man but it's short a few thousand views
Haha that's awesome! Appreciate the comment bro but don't worry those views are coming ;)
@@cultureshock8435 I'm thinking of doing my own metal gear retrospective but with a comedic edge to it. Got any advise?

@@cultureshock8435 thanks for the advise my man. Looking forward to your new video
Such a nostalgic game for me with such awesome voice acting along with a great story a classic masterpiece way ahead of it's time
Was looking around for an MGS retrospective. Nice to see such a good one done by a fellow Irishman. 👍
Wow, I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers! Very thorough retrospective.

Be lying if I said I didn't do the same ;)
I did same... Dont bring a sniper rifle to a rocket launcher fight 😂

Completely agree!
Yeah I don’t know what the hell he was thinking.
Great job mate. I’m amazed this doesn’t have more views. Looking forward to the rest of the games… which you really should do!

This game is one of the best of the best.
The crème de la crème.
It always will be.

Appreciate the comment mate. Pick it up dude MGS1-3 are classics, and 4 is pretty awesome too if a little disjointed. Can't go wrong ;)

Sniper no sniping or you get the stinger.
28:50 - And then, the turn tables.
Can't download 😭.
Wish I can so that i can listen to it while I sleep.
The newer videos are better about this but god damn did you mix the music too loud in this one

It’s really not lol ,clean your ears .
Psycho Mantis?
Class video....but quit going on about spoilers, it's a 25 year old game a newbie to MGS isn't watching this video
Yeah that was pretty dumb lmao
