    I read a lot of negative comments about combat sports in terms of their effectiveness in street fighting. Well, I will not engage in such a discussion, as I am not an expert in all these types of violence. But when I watch these combat sports shows, I greatly enjoy the agility of movement and the beautiful interaction between strength, speed, and balance. An amazing mixture of physics, philosophy and wisdom. Isn't this enough to enjoy what we see, or must we engage in street fighting in order to know the value of things?

      Special forces guy was saying combat sports are just as ineffective as Kata in real combat since real combat also has biting, eye gouging, kicking the balls, etc. to kill with all available means without any restrictions.

    • @sufwanrahman229
      @sufwanrahman229 5 місяців тому +3

      @yootoobvyooer I am in no way special forces, but that's an insanely stupid take. You're effectively saying a professional mma fighter would have the same odds against the average joe without their training. Combat sports like boxing, muay thai, jujutsu, wrestling, kickboxing, lethwei, etc, may not train you to specifically block an eye gouge, but they teach you how to defend yourself against many other attacks, and someone who can box well is much less likely to get their eyes taken out, training head movement, footwork, angle and level changes for hours upon hours every week will lessen the chances of you being hit accurately. the same goes for any other art that focuses specifically on combative ability, as well as other arts like like karate, which focus both on art and Combat, although they are usually inherently less effective

    Very beautiful..thanks for post it..only Just a reflection... I observe that the "kiai" has become... just another "part of the show", simply... and I think that the kiai should be an explosion of energy... not a scream "to scare "... there is a martial art that perfects "kiai-jutsu"... well it was just a note... thank you.

    When I see a Chantayara Kushanku, it's hard to not compare with Rika Usami's which is perfect, whereas Saeko Azuma's looks great, but FOR ME she puts to much strength and intensity. Maho Ono's kata is way more balanced in term intensity, sharpness, smoothness.
    That's why i'd choose Ono for the win.

      Tai Chi is more like slow Kung Fu than slow Karate. But at the highest levels of the martial arts, they are all teaching a lot of the same moves and techniques. Lower level Karate is strikes, but at higher levels, has the same locks, holds, and momentum redirection as Aikido and Jiu Jitsu (Japanese not Brazilian where focus is on grappling).

    one issue with karate is that on a global/western stage, the western announcers know nothing/little about karate and don't explain which style of karate is being performed. if they did it, or the tv program had a 2-minute or so explanation, then western viewers wouldn't be so critical.

    Wushu taolu / forms are way harder, I don't get why katas' following is so much bigger. And Karate's based on Kung Fu. This is coming from a big Karate fan and practitioner. I tried wushu and it's basically gymnastic, you have to train since young age or you have no chance to do even 50% of it. With kata I feel it is possible to do 80-90% of what these athletes can do even if you start at age 30.

    • @kassimrichardson8294

      You're a karate fan and practitioner and you think that a 30 year old starting in Karate can do 90% of what these women can do? I taught children and adults for years and I can tell you that no adult, 30 years old with no prior martial arts training can ever attain the level of performance that these women are at. These women have been training in Karate since they were children and hit their stride in competition when they are in their 20s. What McDojo do you train at? Wushu is a sport invented by the Chinese government in the 70s to revive Chinese martial arts. It is primarily a gymnastic, acrobatics based sport with some Gung Fu elements tossed in. Nothing that resembles actual existing traditional Gung Fu. Karate kata is mostly all derived from original Southern Chinese Gung Fu forms taught to Okinawans in the late 1800s in Fuzhou, China, and or Chinese who came to Okinawa and taught Gung Fu, most related to White Crane Boxing. The Okinawans stripped down the original Gung Fu forms to be as simple, direct and effective as possible. Kata is similar to shadow boxing, practicing techniques while moving. Competition kata is purposefully and dramatically slowed down to demonstrate power, speed, directional changing, jumping and switching stances, breathing, exact form and execution of many different techniques, blocks, strikes, punches and kicks.
