Thanks for the review. I actually want a Rolex Date Just in this style but when you see just how good the homage pieces are, it really can make a person think twice.
I have bought five Parnis watches. One was apparently a counterfeit (!) quartz and not a real Parnis, one self-winder lost it's crown after about 90 days, and the other three (two self-winders and one hand-wind) have been good durable watches that I am pleased to have bought. The two self winders gain a minute or so per day, the self-winder is more accurate and keeps excellent time. All of them were dress watches, not the diver or Rolex imitations. All had leather straps.

I don’t own any parnis watches or a fan of them but if Parnis could make a watch with that much quality comparable to the Rolex, for only $400? Why even buy a Rolex that costs thousands and you would have to be in a waiting list
If you actually break down the cost of how much it cost to build a steel Rolex it’s under $1000, and anybody could say it’s reasonable for the watch to sell for about $3500 at the most. But really it’s demand that drives it up

francesco filogamo I bought my parnis 36 mm datejust on eBay. Under the description it only says 21 Jewel Miyota automatic movement. I began to do some research but could not find any specific movement until I went on some forums. I could be wrong about the movement, because neither Parnis main website or any other site specifically says what the movement is
That design is not exactly controversial. A sh*tton of watches had the same exact design ripped straight from the Datejust, from the Japanese (and Chinese) to the Swiss. There are so many 'datejusts' in the Current/Vintage market that pointing out Parnis is utterly pointless. Putting that aside, the Parnis does look nice. It would be nicer at 38mm. I do agree with you that Homages are an excellent way to test run a watch (and save the costs of re-selling it later). The Parnis MM that I bought is why I would never buy a Panerai/IWC or a >42mm watch (Way too big/hefty for daily use & abuse) parnis.org/collections/militare/products/militare-78

Parnis proves that no watch material except diamonds are expensive. Rolex uses stainless steel, the same thing your fork is made of. Precision and polish do add to the price but a $20 casio is still more accurate. The watch industry is just weird to me.
