I'm off to test a ex-demo AK550 tomorrow and this really helps. They're not sure on how old it is, other than it has done 400 miles in a photoshoot for Kymco. It's £1000 cheaper than buying it new. I'm going to look to see if it's got these updates, thanks for this video. You are no1 source of info. If it hasn't I'll probably say no and buy new.
These are the standard upgrade that previous year models get. There are more improvements from 2017 model but they are changed if there is a problem with the serten part. I got almost all of then.
The earlier AK's does not have a relay on lights... Now they put a relay to eliminate this problem. Also the pin is the one between the rear pulley and the rear wheel
Hello. I live in Germany. And my Kymco Dealer says I can’t get a new belt for free. But My AK 550 makes very loud and different noises . By 11 km/h and by 37 km/h. My Dealers says this is normal . I don‘ t think so .... Please give me response . Thanks a lot .
Biketrips I think the noise at 37 km/h is from the belt . The Noise at 11 km/h I think is from the rear brake . My question is : can all AK 550 get the better belt ? Or Not ? In Germany the distributor of Kymco only tells Info to the Kymco Dealers Not to the Customers .
I think the noise at 37km/h is from variator, and that's how it works, makes some noise at that km. At 11 km/h or less than 10km/h maybe is from brake pads, when it's cold mostly.

How did you get these upgrades? How did you know about them? I bought a late 2018 model which needs these upgrades but the dealer doesn't know anything about them.

Yes, all those changes save the battery, I think it's on the rear axle,but they don't specify. The changed the relay for the lights.

I like the kymco ak 550 but you have service it every 5000 km unlike the Yamaha tmax is every 10000 km service...just wondering why is that???

I service it at the main dealer of Greece. They did it by them self's.
The front belt has not changed. I have a 2019 with the new squale blue color, and i always have the shit sound of the belt :/
