Due to personal issues which I won’t be discussing here, February 27th was one of the most devastating days I’ve had in recent memory. All I can remember is just collapsing and crying, realising that something that was a big part of my life had just been completely erased. I wish I had actually known about this find on the day it happened, because it would have definitely cheered me up. It’s such a charming and beautiful little tune. I’m still struggling to comprehend what happened on that day and how it will affect me, but all these new Lostwave discoveries are giving me hope that maybe the future isn’t as scary as I think.
I'm sorry to hear of your personal issues, McNuggets. Life throws us some tragic curveballs, but luckily some of us can face it with the help of music. It's great to know that Lostwave songs like "Bravely" are helping you through this difficult time. My thoughts are with you.
Wow! I am really glad I found this video. I have been searching for a song I heard back in July of 2002 while I was on a tour bus heading into Amsterdam,. I was recording video from the front of the bus and my camera picked up the song in the background. This video gave me a lot of hope in finding it someday.
@@CWSchultz That would be incredible! I recently sent the song to someone from the Amsterdam area and they couldn't figure it out. The quality isn't great due to the sound of the bus and road drowning out the audio. However, I am certain someone out there can figure some of the lyrics or know of another song from the same band or something like that. UA-cam doesn't like links in responses a lot of the time. I have a video on my channel named "Songs Help - Please Identify This Song or Artist" that I use to send to people. So far, no luck. I can also send an audio file but I don't know where I could send that too,. I uploaded it on a couple sites but have gotten no responses.

@@CWSchultz Thank you! I have uploaded it to a "What's That Song" website as well. My friend that is from Holland said he thinks the lyrics are in English but being sung by someone with a heavy Dutch or German accent.
This video is encouraging because I recorded a song off the radio with my phone back on May 30, 2017. It was an old phone and loading SoundHound would have lasted about as long as the song, which would have made it for nothing. SoundHound couldn't identify the music from my recording so I uploaded it to my UA-cam channel. No person and no app has identified the song so far. It sucks because I really like the song. It sounds like a more aggressive version of New Order in the Power, Corruption, and Lies era. All the DJ had to do was say the artist's name and song title. I also like finding rare and obscure new wave/synth-pop. I never heard of this specific mystery song until this video. I like this Beat Boy stuff.
Thanks for sharing. Can you please provide a link to the UA-cam video you're referring to? I'm more than happy to help you look for the song and spread the word.

I'll never forget a song I heard twice in the late 2000s, specifically 2009. I had a classic style vinyl record player with a radio component. I was browsing through stations and all of a sudden I came across a song playing on a station I can't remember that went like "This little man, this little man" with almost big band style drums with the vocalist sounding very similar to Colin Hay from men at work. I heard the song again at a Carnival I went to later that year briefly, then after it stopped I never heard it again. I can't find it anywhere on the internet or even a sign it existed. I'm convinced it was something local that eventually became 100% lost media.
If you don't remember what station you heard it on, but you think it's a local musician and you heard it a second time at a carnival… what area are you from and do you remember the carnival you attended? This could help. Thank you for the new mystery, Ian!
@@tristan_840 Great question, Tristan! I think answers will change from person to person. My assumption was something from the late-'80s. I was a couple years off, so it's a good reminder than common genre trends that sound like a time period can spread a few years out in each direction. What era to you think it sounds like?
@@CWSchultz I think he was asking @IanTheBuizel what genre of song the "This little man, this little man" song sounded like so we could help him solve the mystery of what song it is.
This reminds me of people miss hearing or remember charming man by the Smiths but that is way to easy of a solution I'd assume you would have figured it out by now
This demonstrates the power of the internet. Diffuse collaboration. Bits and pieces from people all over the world can be assembled to answer questions that would otherwise be unsolvable.
There's actually a term for that - collective intelligence (or community data in some circles). The collaborative efforts of different communities (or people) to form collective knowledge in order to solve a problem.
This was the lostwave song that I had wanted found the most, even more than EKT or Like the Wind. I remember back in November I would endlessly loop the short segment and dying for it be found because I really loved the way it sounded and made me feel! I’m so glad it was finally found!
So glad to hear your favorite Lostwave song was finally found after all this time. Thanks for taking the time to share your story and watch this video!!
I have two songs stuck in my head from like a car ride with my dad 20 years ago when I was like 8, and he has passed since, and nobody has any idea what the hell I am talking about when I embarrassingly sing the songs with likely-incorrect lyrics for them, so I am glad one song mystery is solved, now I must solve my own.
Sometimes the smallest details can lead somewhere big. It might be worth your time to share on Reddit your recollection of the lyrics, what style of music it was, and when you heard it.
soulseek, nice. I've found some rare tracks/versions of tracks there before that couldn't be found otherwise on the web. As far as general music downloading goes, it makes the idea of music torrenting laughable, and other methods, such as ripping UA-cam or other services in trash quality seem flat out disgusting. P2P music is ancient at this point, but still king.
Thank you for documenting this!! The journeys people take to uncover the mysteries behind “lost” music (and lost media in general) are always fascinating. Keep up the good work!
It doesn't matter. The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet IS NOT THE ONLY MUSIC LOST AND SEARCHED IN THE LOSTWAVE COMMUNITY. Stop being so obsessive about ONE SONG. There is a lot of lost or unknown music that is a gem and needs to be unearthed.
I apologize. It wasn't my intentions to clickbait anyone. My mindset was to create a thumbnail and title that would intrigue viewers to watch. Sometimes I forget that not everyone realizes there's a long list of mysterious songs the Lostwave community is searching for. I'll be more mindful of this when posting future videos. Thank you for the feedback.
I remember Toronto's CFNY The Spirit of Radio in the mid 1980's when the station peaked, I never heard CFNY myself living on the west coast of British Columbia. but I do recall many word of mouth comments on The Spirit and its unconventional alterative music format. This was the inspiration for the 1980 song Spirit of Radio by Rush. there was a Vancouver west coast version of the Spirit Of Radio in Vancouver called CKST, aka Coast 800 AM Later Coast 1040 riding the wave of the 1990's alternative/ grunge explosion. I became a regular listener for the brief 3 years that they existed. Sadly Like the Toronto's original Spirit of Radio which ended in 1988, Vancouver's Coast 1040 went silent in September of 1993.
All of the people helping in finding a lost song is nice. When I was a child, I once listened to a song on a relative's radio thst goes: "Take me to the dance floor, Take me to the moon. I'll take you anywhere and boom, boom, boom." Every now and then I remember the lyrics and the tune but I can't seem to find it online. I get this feeling of sadness thinking that I will never find the song again. Edit: RadicoolJatt told me the song. It is "Happy Group - Boom Boom".
Don't give up! Just because the lyrics don't pop up in a Google search doesn't make it impossible. Someone still might recognize it if you continue to spread the word. The mysterious song "I Keep Looking" was sought after by many, but the lyrics weren't in Google; however, with enough sharing on music forums, someone eventually recognized it as "The Livin' And The Dyin'" by Jim Dawson. However, Dawson's song had the advantage of having an audio snippet available for searchers to listen to. Even still, the lyrics you provided are unique enough that someone else who has heard it before is bound to recognize it. Good luck!!
Did you know that "Boom Boom" by Happy Group is actually a solved lost media song? Which means that you just coincidentally had half-memories of a song that has been a song that a lot of other people have been searching for.
I have a recording of a demo (I believe) that was played on a local college radio station back in the early nineties. I saved that one tape for thirty years because I liked the song. Sometimes I wonder though, if they never released the song, do they even want it to be found?
Thanks for sharing! I think I speak for several people when I say that it's worth your time to find a way to upload that demo. Even musicians who created a mysterious song in the distant past and are far removed from their band and that style of music, almost all of them are flattered when they find out that people were looking for their music.
@@CWSchultz ah, okay. I can upload a clip. 😊 Is there a place to share in case anyone might know more about the artist? At the end of the recording the DJ said the name of the song, (and perhaps the artist, but not sure…) but I still can’t get anywhere googling it. Maybe I’ll come across someone who knows a lot about 90s indie pop in Los Angeles? 😃
Now it's been found it's likely to get forgotten like many other songs have in the past that were never lost. It's only the search for it that kept it alive.
Perhaps. But the mystery potentially got more people to listen and appreciate the song than if it was never lost. The song got its due credit and then some; and I think that's a good lesson, to never underestimate something that didn't become popular or gain traction when it was first release. We put too much thought into the next big thing that "drops", when we've only scratched the surface of all the things we might like already in existence.
@@CWSchultz I totally agree. I guess my comment came off kinda neutral but I was thinking it's a pity that it was found because now it will get forgotten. The idea of it being lost is what kept it alive in many people's lives and now it's not lost it will not have that draw to many of those people. Of course there will be some who keep it in their hearts for a long time to come.
CFNY was THE radio station for any of us living in Toronto during the '80s. Dave Marsden, spinning under the name "The Mars Bar" filled the air with music no other station would play. Punk to New Wave to New Romantics to Chris Sheppard's Dance Party - Club 102. Could definitely see Bravely being played on CFNY.
Hey bud- not sure if you remember him you can hear Pete Fowler every day on CKWR 98.5 in Kitchener. They have an online player. He plays some good stuff.
Like the Wind is cool but I'm more in to EKT and also the other one thats called like 'Its Just a Game' or whtvr bc those full versions are yet to be found
I had no idea about this. I knew I’d like the wind and the band Status in Motion, but I didn’t know of other discovered unknown material like this. The song sounds so iconic and melodic by Beatboy.
So it seems like this song was actually solved early on, but prolonged due to inadvertent negligence. Glad the search persisted and the song was found though!
I have another lost song to mention. Unfortunately, I have no audio to upload. The song came out most likely in late 1992. I heard it on the radio show called U.K. Chart Attack. The song sampled the notorious "squidgy" tapes of Princes Diana with her alleged lover. Male vocals in the beginning in a rap style. He repeated " You'll always be a princess to me, you'll always be a princess". It goes on with the rapper alongside the Diana samples until the chorus is sung by a female vocalist singing the word "Princess" about 4 times in repetition. The dj on UK chart attack said the name of the track was "Princess" by an artist called Blue. I once had this song on tape from that show, but it has been lost to time. I have searched for years to locate this song with no success. It's as if the song never existed. Has anyone out there heard, or heard of this song ??? #squidgy #princessdiana #ukchartattack #lostsong #lostsongs
amazing how so many song snippets sound so fugging amazing and most times those songs are either lost or just not real and i hate it lol. the real songs we get are never are fire as these lost ones. when we finally do find the lost ones or are able to get full versions of em, ugh its sooooo nice.
So i watched this and thought I’d ask a polish friend that had travelled a lot of east Europe. First thing they said was “sound like beatboy”. You cant make this shit up 🤣🤣 if only me or her heard about this it would have been a bit of a shorter mystery 😂. She said she said lots of people didn’t like his music so maybe thats why it was so hard to find
Actually I got a song but not knowing what is the name. It cannot be recognized by Shazam, Soundhound nor anything under the sun. I once thought of doing detective work by copy the song or remix the song and post it on UA-cam and put a bait like "I compose this song and the credit is mine." I doing this on purpose, so I can get copyright strike so I can get to know the song name.
When they released the complete and quality music, I really thought it would be music from the 80's, but it's from the 90's, which surprised me. You can see the inspiration that the artist had from the last decade...
I'm trying to find a music video. I don't know the band or the song name. The video is the band in a van heading to the beach. There is a girl waiting outside to get picked up. But the band drives right past her and she acts upset. This repeats for a few days until the band finally picks her up and they're all playing around on the beach. There is a large rock sticking out of the water. It was on tv around the time Vampire Weekend did an unplugged set. It would play on Paladia all the time. I used to have it saved on my dvr a long time ago, but I don't have it anymore. I have had zero success trying to search on my own. Thanks for reading this. 🍻

Anyone else think this was going to be Check It In Check It Out? Edit: nvm, I see it's more commonly called Like the Wind, and has for sure been brought up.
what a strange things to have something from within my lifetime gone and nearly forgotten. that being written i have bunch of songs i remember so little of that i just can not find them... infuriatingly. They are most likely not mysteries or anything just a nuisances. Glad that several songs were found out.
OK, here's a short novelty song I've seen decades ago, but have never been able to find. It said "woke up this morning, gone straight to bed" or something very similar, somewhat like a 12-bar blues style. I remember it being from one of the Carter USM members - but as I said, never been able to find it.
I get so mad when I find a dope song somewhere and I can’t identify it. It always comes up at random times and no matter what I’m doing, I give it another go 😂 never heard of this one, but it’s happened with a lot of others that would be considered album cuts or underground demos.

Rock on! If you get a chance to upload that video, please let me know. I'm more than happy to help you look for it and spread the word. Thank you.
@@SeanFlaharty Nice! I listened to it and can't tell if it's in Dutch, English or possibly another language. I've added and linked the song to the list of mysterious songs in hopes that other searchers might be able to help. Thanks again for sharing!!
@@CWSchultz Thank you! I have uploaded it to a "What's That Song" website as well. My friend that is from Holland said he thinks the lyrics are in English but being sung by someone with a heavy Dutch or German accent.
it's so funny how try to smile again is also by the same guy that wrote Rockefeller street

@@CWSchultz Thank you very much for adding the song to the list. I hope this will lead to the mystery being resolved in the future.
What do you think is the genre of the song? Does it sound actually like its time or does it sound more of like old jazz or 70s or 80s rock?
@@tristan_840 Great question, Tristan! I think answers will change from person to person. My assumption was something from the late-'80s. I was a couple years off, so it's a good reminder than common genre trends that sound like a time period can spread a few years out in each direction. What era to you think it sounds like?
@@CWSchultz I think he was asking @IanTheBuizel what genre of song the "This little man, this little man" song sounded like so we could help him solve the mystery of what song it is.
This reminds me of people miss hearing or remember charming man by the Smiths but that is way to easy of a solution I'd assume you would have figured it out by now
Great to see a video covering the full search for TTSA. Btw I actually made the lost media wiki article at 1:16, glad to have contributed.
Thank you for creating that helpful article!

Imagine all these lost songs media, set this up 20 years ago… to be discovered and they stay silent to be all mysterious then boom.
soulseek, nice.
Kind of amazing that the original musicians never came across this search
I Imagine all of those lost cartoons from those small European countries just because they aren't in English

@@asterlofts1565shut up bro
I apologize. It wasn't my intentions to clickbait anyone. My mindset was to create a thumbnail and title that would intrigue viewers to watch.
Love to see some lost media come from my own small country! Great content!!
All of the people helping in finding a lost song is nice.
When I was a child, I once listened to a song on a relative's radio thst goes:
"Take me to the dance floor, Take me to the moon.
I'll take you anywhere and boom, boom, boom."
Every now and then I remember the lyrics and the tune but I can't seem to find it online. I get this feeling of sadness thinking that I will never find the song again.
Edit:
RadicoolJatt told me the song.
Good luck!!
@@CWSchultz I still have the tune to those lines in my head. I'd like to share it but I have no idea how to present it.
Happy Group - Boom Boom
@@RadicoolJam GOODNESS ME! IT'S THIS!

Is there a place to share in case anyone might know more about the artist? At the end of the recording the DJ said the name of the song, (and perhaps the artist, but not sure…) but I still can’t get anywhere googling it. Maybe I’ll come across someone who knows a lot about 90s indie pop in Los Angeles? 😃

@@christophercleary6780well, search maybe?

Estonia mentioned!
I search for a song since the 80’s, it goes like “…all flowers in the rain let their spirit go flying in the sky….”.
This reminds me of a UA-cam mistery on a guy from Poland called Jexus. He reviewed and played synthesizers with really cool yet weird videos.
I hope he gets access to the song again for a better quality version. Because this Version we have now isn't the best quality
That eye backroom background is hilarious... and fitting
Nice to see you again, have you been working on other lost wave songs?
Yes, more Mysterious Music episodes to come. Stay tuned!

So i watched this and thought I’d ask a polish friend that had travelled a lot of east Europe. First thing they said was “sound like beatboy”.

That is really smart actually
Crazy how this video has more views than the song itself
When they released the complete and quality music, I really thought it would be music from the 80's, but it's from the 90's, which surprised me. You can see the inspiration that the artist had from the last decade...
Soulseek... AHHHH I remember using that back in the early 00s whilst everyone else used Limewire :')

I love the activity that's been going on lately.
I get so mad when I find a dope song somewhere and I can’t identify it. It always comes up at random times and no matter what I’m doing, I give it another go 😂 never heard of this one, but it’s happened with a lot of others that would be considered album cuts or underground demos.
Never knew this was missing, if someone told me earlier it wouldnt last 20 years.

amazing, you are back.
Funny cause I also found a song in feb this year after a 25-year search which happened to be sung by an artist called beat boy ("the roof is on fire")...
But you have to think. What about SO MANY tapes that were lost, burnt, rotten, or rewritten, with many having singles never heard before
Or even songs played on the radio pre-1980s when a lot of people didn't have a boombox/stereo with cassette recorders!
