- May 12, 1986. A group of two faculty members, a mountain guide, and ten students from Oregon Episcopal School visited Mt. Hood for their yearly educational climb. Nine of the climbers died after days of search and rescue efforts. This tragedy became one of the deadliest mountain climbing accidents in North American history.

I can't even begin to imagine the pain the parents went through during and after this tragedy. I wouldn't wish this to happen to my worst enemy.

M coworker's granddaughter died up there. Heartbreaking...
This too happened at Banf, Alberta to students and faculty of a private school from PhilaDelphia suburb.
I believe it also happened to Scottish school children in 1971. So tragic. Same as here, the weather turned bad.

Did DNA testing not exist during this time to identify people?
Not yet. Even now it is expensive and takes time. Clothing and dental records are the main thing they go to
