    Alan Ruck was 29 when they filmed this movie, and Broderick was 23. Mia Sara was the only actual teenager at the time (18). Yet the three are so perfectly cast and have such natural chemistry, you'd never doubt for a second that they're high-schoolers. Thank you, John Hughes, for giving us one of the most iconic teen movies of all time -- a film us 80's teens hold dear in our hearts.

    • @crpggamer
      @crpggamer 6 років тому +86

      I would never have guessed Alan Ruck was 29. I think the scenes with Sloan and Cameron look a little awkward. I think I was kind somewhere in between Cameron and Ferris when I was younger. Cameron actually seems less mature and is having difficulty socially interacting with others. Sloan and Ferris both seem at ease interacting with other people. This is a big issue for some kinds of the time like myself.

    I was a little girl, maybe 11, reading the Sun Times when I saw a tiny little article saying they were filming a parade scene in downtown Chicago in a few days and needed thousands of extras. All these decades later and I still remember shrugging my shoulders and turning the page. Still one of my greatest regrets!!

    In my middle school, we have mini courses (means exactly what the name says) every 9 weeks of the school year. In 6th grade, my mini course the 4th nine weeks of school was an 80's mini course. On the last day of school, we watched this movie, and after the end-credits scene played, the bell rang. It was hilarious, my whole class was singing twist and shout down the hallway. We actually got a group of about 50 people walking down the hallway singing it. I love this movie.
    Edit, we also sang Danke Schoen, though we all obviously could not match Wayne Newton's angelic voice.
