Incredible movie. Thank you for sharing. Toxic masculinity, internalised homophobia, shame. Yes it's heavy and dark but that is what the gay journey is like sometimes. Quite an accurate reflection of certain toxic male culture in Australia also which people do not realise and the harm in does to generations when passed down.
Aussies know how to make a film. This is an honest film that would have been watered down if made in the USA. Love the Aussies all the way from Phoenix!
Im just glad that the two boys are okay. Except with Lenn, Im already done dealing with these kinds of people so I dont feel any sympathy to him. Ive been a martyr once in college on a guy like him for almost 2 yrs, wasted my college life. But it happened already, past and no regrets.
Len especially shows great acting chops in his 180˚ personality changes. Pity the language has been sanitized. It detracts from the enjoyment and continuity. Not sure of the date of filming ...no cell phones so it was a while back. Language was probably redacted due to previous archaic codes.
What an absolute great watch!! This one is a definitive save! Brilliantly acted and a huge hat off to everyone involved in producing this winner. Warmest greetings from South Africa!🇿🇦😊
Too toxic movie for my taste, there is a modern aspect of making the film. It shows many things about homophobic and pcycho people who are not comfortable with themselves. Many backs and forths that are very tiring for someone to watch it, i quess this is the point...
A study in narcissism. Len trauma-bonded with his toxic father, denying his own true self. He depended entirely on outer validation. When his claim to glory slipped away, all was lost. He had nothing on the inside but self-loathing.
@@Michael-fd8obPerhaps English is not his first language and the nuances in the dialogue were lost. Just a theory. Even I had a few rough spots trying to understand their accent.
I feel like I somewhat understand what the filmmaker is intending to portray through Len's story, but what I don’t understand is why Phil takes all of Len's abuse so willingly. Phil as a character I just cannot understand. What are his motivations for his actions? Phil seems more like a plot device to allow Len to engage on his journey.
I understand the movie ,he don’t except himself ! Good movie ! Beautiful guys! But sometimes very very hard ! I just missed English subtitles, than it’s easier to understand 🥰
Im giving up! Half way through. I ended up bored with the choppi g and changing. Just too confusing. Flashbacks are not a problem when used judiciously, but this is way over the top. Just can't get into it before it's off on a tangent and and the narrative is broken and the fragments just don't fit. Sad, cause the guys are all good actors and the direction is sound, it's the edit that's the problem.
@@coreywhy A sequential time-line is one way. This "out of chronological order" editing may be a creative story-telling, but very few do it well. (Pulp Fiction this is not!)
Would have been fine with the present time (night at the beach) with the flashbacks in chronological order leading up to that point, but the fact that it kept hoping out of order between when the new guy arrived and “now” seemed unnecessary.
@@blakej1892 I actually saw it as the energy of the leads emotional state . His uncertainty and going in and out of his truths and emotions . strange film, we will feel the condescending, homophobic behavior of individuals here for a long time, a bit selfish, how can someone behave when someone else is better and can't accept it. sad and humiliating type of person, the only thing I liked about this was the shots and moments from the film, like the beautiful shots of Kylie Minogue in the video Where is the feeling? in the sea and under the water, the video reminded me a lot
Honest critic from an openly gay actor and producer. Actors are gorgeous. However Len denial and long abusive beach scenes made this gay theme movie quite boring and disgusting. That's not what happens in real life I am afraid. It should have been more realistic and not with so much homophobic violence and behaviour. I believe the writer here, portrayed his sick fantasies and how he would like to treat or be treated. Since I am also one of the Southland International annual cinema festival judges, I would definitely do not put this movie through the competition. There's must be a limit to physical , psychological , emotional abuse and violence when making a gay theme movie, and this has crossed the line
A movie that doesn’t depict real life? Who would have thought it! But seriously, the beach scenes are less about Len and Phil and more about Len and Stuart. That it took that much time and humiliation for Stuart to start bushing back against Len, which was the final nail in Len’s humiliation.

These toxic friendships look like hard work.
That's why I don't bother. It can't be friendship when they treat people like this

Brilliant movie fabulously deep and insightful. Awesome acting.
Completely agree 👑🎩👊🏾
Yeah, that was intense.
Great movie, the acting was amazing, and the storyline was full on

Perfect movie. Finally a gay-themed movie that isn't flamboyant or boring.

Powerful film full of metaphor and challenge.

The only one who saw it exactly as I did
This is a far too sick of a movie for me. It literally made me sick to watch it.
Totally agree there is enough ugliness in the world
Me too! I don’t understand all the complements on this movie. It was like watching an hour and a half of insanity.
Having been the target of antigay violence, I found this triggering to watch. It's very realistic, well-acted, and well-done overall though.
I don't understand this movie😢 not have any meaning to me

THE MOVIE.WAS GOOD AND I THINK WITH MY SMALL MIND THAT HE DECIDES TO DRAW BECAUSE HE DOESN'T ACCEPT HIMSELF THAT HE IS GAY
Very gay
Lower the caps and stop being so rude. 👎

Wasn’t a fan of all the “time jumping” but otherwise it’s a good movie.
Of course you didn't ask for my opinion 😂 I'm just not sure how a full and clear story could have been made ... without them .

Ótimo filme. Um homem com um grau de loucura a perder de vista e homossexual que luta para não aceitar o que é uma realidade.
well that was depressing

What was it about
It was explained in the description.
Lenny's self-denial to accept who he was and refusing to admit he was in love with Phil.
