From a women, sons are born. Women, are indeed, the teachers of our faith, and are an important role to raising righteous men. I believe it is great that more women seek to go deeper in sharing the Holy Faith. Thank you Father John and Sister Vassa!
women preachers seem to be a great idea. But I suppose that the ones who have gone against the grain and know 'what life is' would make the best teachers. Imagine a world where women assert themselves in 'holy' ways without being overt or tempting men. That would be a remarkable world in deed!
The Orthodox Church was a massive change to the established order. In the ancient world, priestesses were ubiquitous in pagan temples. The male priesthood, the admonishment against sexual indisicpline and debauchery, these were new ideas. For whatever reason, God Himself chose his priesthood to be men, as pleasing to him, and his star witness and his initial vessel, and later his human monarch with Him in Heaven, to be women. Given Mary's stature, women are already the primary humans in the Church. Priest's serve. Mary is much more than a servant in heaven.
"Intellectual honest demands academic rigor in order to be faithful to the deposit we've been given. Otherwise it just becomes our regurgitation of our half-baked thoughts." Perfect!
Sister, you once replied graciously to a message from me. (It was in your Patreon, and you included a comment about whether angels "really" have wings.) Anyway, I'm ashamed to admit it only just occurred to me to add you to my prayers, so I wanted to stop by and thank you again for your wisdom 🤗🙏 I don't know whether you read UA-cam comments; honestly, I hope you don't, even if it means you never see this one.
"Christ is risen! Indeed, He is risen!" Many thanks to you, Sr. Vassa, and your special guest, Fr, John Behr, for yet another thoughtfully humorous and engaging presentation. Fr. John's suggestion for a new show entitled, "Orthodoxy & Cycling" is an interesting concept. Nonetheless, would recommend ONE WORD OF CAUTION FOR YOUR "ZILLIONS" OF FANS" out there! Cycling and watching "Coffee with Sr. Vassa" on an iPad (while simultaneously drinking hot coffee from an official "Sr. Vassa designer mug") may prove perilous; especially if someone has a particular affinity for unicycles. :)
❤️ Thank you sister, Glory to Jesus Christ. I ask you to keep us in your holy prayers. I am an unworthy sinner and I need your prayers everyday and night please keep praying for me Archimandrite Father Michael. I have been serving as an Exorcist for the last 11 years. I have a small skete in the forest USA. and we do not allow any visitors. There are only a few monks and a nun here. We are orthodox on the old calendar , we take our autonomy from the old calendar greek Orthodox Church from Alexandria. We are living under much persecution from so many people filled with hate for us, you have no idea ! Too much to talk about here on a public social media God knows ! I humbly ask for your blessed prayers everyday and every night please do not forget us. We need a miracle to get a new skete location and we need miracle for help to relocate as I said it’s too much to talk about here. Please pray for us Sister nun Nektaria, brother Nektarios, Archimandrite father Michael. Thank you sister in Christ for your love and prayer in Jesus Christ our lord God and savior amen. 🌲☦️🌲
thank you for your excellent work -- I would like a series by you on the topic "the poetry of the psalms" highlighting poetry and meaning in the psalms pointing to the LXX from perhaps the top 50 psalms same style same superb quality
A very nice video. As this is my first time watching this channel, I'm slightly confused about what the purpose of the mention of the show being "award winning" and "the best" was. I'm assuming that these are jokes. Regardless, a calm and relaxing watch for sure. @Sr. Vassa, I can't remember if you ever presented your opinion on women leading in the church, so if you happen to read this a comment would be appreciated. Thank you, and God grant you many years!
Interesting to watch Behr articulate himself out of addressing the real issue re: women working to gain a degree at St. Vlads, to find no place to serve within the Church. She did not say anything about priesthood, but about teaching. MDivs cost far too much money for one just to witness for Christ. Being 'salt and light' does not require an MDiv, but an understanding about God's plan of salvation through the atoning work of His Son.
That intro put a giant smile on my face. Thank you Sr. Vassa.

I'm a cyclist, but not yet Orthodox. 😊 Soon I'll be both, by God's grace.
That joke was amazing Sister Vassa! Much love from the Greek Orthodox Church
I like this.......my degree in theology was hit on the head when I read in the Philokalia that a theologian is a man of prayer.

All of the bicycles in the background are a nice touch.
Thank you so much for funny and intelligent conversation. I'm into Orthodoxy and cycling also.
She's great. As a Trad. Catholic I highly value coffee with a good nun.
"Marriage is a form of martyrdom". Well, you can say that again! :)
I wish I knew that beforehand. 😁
Very insightful and LOVE the humor! :)

Bless you Sister Vassa. Orthodoxy and Coffee was a brillant choice. One can not cycle and watch You tube videos.
Sr. Vassa is the Orthodox Stephen Colbert
jonathan mcCormack Good one!!! LOL!
Colbert is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual "marriage". Sorry, but bad comparison.
I understand this comment was made a while ago and I don’t know what it was like back then but I wouldn’t consider such a comparison positive.
This is wonderful. Blessings!
This is great!!
Great discussion, thank you.

As always, very charming and enlightening. I like the rapport between Father Behr and Sister Vassa. Orthodoxy rules!
Christ Jesus rules! Praise His Holy name!
Yes, I stand corrected. Thank you.
well, christ is orthodox.
So he isn't just an ordinary superman! He is bicycle repair man!
I love this.
4:12 marriage is a form of martyrdom and "can" grow holiness.
delightful.
Johanna Manley is an Orthodox women who has that gift. She has written some incredible books. Please do an episode on her.

i love it when she emphasised, "The well known Orthodox THEOLOGIAN," to offset the bike stuff. Great stuff.
Bless me sister
God bless you, Johannes (even though I usually only "bless" people if they just sneezed).
April 16th. The volume was so low that I hardly heard anything: too bad.
Actually as I am listening to it, the volume keeps going up & down.

Not sure you listened too well to what he had to say. Nor am I certain that you understand the purpose of postgraduate theological education.
