The Sennheiser MKE 600 for nature & wildlife video

I am always looking for great new tools to help in create magical moments in nature. I recently researched the Sennheiser MKE 600. Although it's not as good as the legendary 416, to me, it performed so well on its first outing in Mana Pools.
For the video shared here, I never worked on any of the audio files, other than a little gain here and there. The sound you hear is un edited.
What sold me on the MKE 600 was the following...
* Not too big, bulky and heavy.
* Does not require phantom power. Simply powered by AA batteries, and it lasts a long time before batteries need to be replaced.
* I can record audio directly on to my video. The mic connects with a simply audio cable to my camera.
* I am after a shotgun mic that's able to capture audio at a distance, while cutting out sound coming from around me. So far, it's worked very well.
Would love to hear both your thoughts, as well as your suggestions on any other great microphones for nature and wildlife.
