    Thank you! You are a great presenter, so organized and clear. I love that you don’t waste time with non-related chit-chat. I learned so much! I’m not completely there yet but I’m trying to get there!

    Since I eat more beans, I've noticed the I feel fuller longer effect in my body. This definitely makes sense and is so worth making the changes to plant based lifestyle! Thanks for sharing this incredible information 😊🍅

    Excellent video. To me, all I need to look at is our teeth and compare them to real carnivores. We are definitely designed to eat plants. The ability to eat meats is simply a backup system for emergencies.

    I feel like I've been secretly following this approach, been cutting out oils, sugars and most processed food for months trying to heal my acne.

    • @irme8930
      @irme8930 5 років тому

      For acne the best remedy is oil pulling in the morning. I got acne free in 3 weeks. Also following all the indications here. At least 80% vegan, no milk, cheese, no cooking with oils. I always add olive oil at the end. A lot of sports and sweating, plus using a sauna. I hope it helps.

    Although animal-derived foods are absent from the Glycemic Index (inherently devoid of any carbohydrates) it should be noted that their consumption doubles the insulin-spike response of high glycemic foods (meat + potatoes) which may explain why its creator (our 2nd-meal Doctor David Jenkins) now advocates for the vegan lifestyle 🌱
    Your beans VS cupcake match was shocking ... I never would have guessed that the calorie absorption-rate be that different (50 X)! 😳
    Edit PS: I agree with one of your previous commenters: you are a beautiful ambassador to this way of living Brittany 💚

      I heard that about a year or so ago on a podcast. I heard that it’s actually too much animal protein that increases insulin.

    Legumes are a problem if we eat refined sugar sometimes. It causes fermentation. It takes 4 months to change the gut bacteria. The other problem is that our environment and food contains a lot of refined sugar. When I leave out the sugar, I have no problems at all with legumes.

    I skip the snack aisle at Whole Foods because every single bag of supposedly “healthy” vegan chips no matter what they’re made from (vegetables, rice, corn, wheat) have safflower or sunflower oil.

    Just found your channel while investigating nutritarian lifestyle. I love your easy to understand explanations and interpretations. Thank you for your helpful and informative videos. I am making this change gradually after eating mostly vegetarian for the last 10 years. Giving up the dairy and fish is the biggest challenge for me. Keep up the great content. You are helping so many people. 💕

    Love your videos! Dr. Fuhrman is great! Right on the money!! So glad I have been following him for years. Not closely though! Much to my chagrin!! I do eat high nutrient foods mostly! But I am going back to the high nutrient style. Also found several vegan recipe books that have super yummy recipes! Got at the library!! So excited to try new recipes and lose weigjt in the process!! Thanks again for your videos!!

    Great ! Thank you . As I am discovering your great channel just now, quick question . If I understand you change from Dr John McDougall "diet" to the Nutritarian principle ? It is really strange as I see many doing so. How can you explain that ? I have found your channel based on a search I did on Dougall actually, so it was funny to me to see that you ( as some others ) moved to Nutritarian . I would love to hear from you on this. Thank you

    Does he recommend the percentage of macronutrients we should consume?

  • @sibelb4152
    @sibelb4152 5 років тому

    A couple notes - Regarding "complete proteins": all plant foods do contain "complete" protein. You could eat only e.g. cucumbers and get sufficient amounts of all essential amino acids (try it as an experiment with different plant foods in cronometer). You do not require a variety of plants to get such. The myth that you must do so stems from confusion between "essential" (your body needs it and does not make it) and "common" (meaning human tissue based, not exotic ones found in fungi or from outer space) amino acids. There are 20 "common" amino acids, which animal products contain all of. However that is not the definition of "complete". The definition of "complete" means a food contains all "essential" amino acids, of which there are only 8 (or 9, depending who you ask). All of those are in all plant foods and they are all the building blocks necessary to build the rest of the 20 "common" amino acids needed for human structural or functional needs. Also meat is not a high glycemic food but it is highly insulinogenic in itself. Greger has a video on this, I believe it was in his series on the paleo diet.

    I have heard of the second meal effect (from Dr. Andrew Weil) but I never heard it called that. Have you ever heard about undercooking pasta or leftover pasta or rice making it lower on the glycemic index and increasing the resistant starch?

    • @pda2836
      @pda2836 5 років тому +1

      I just read about this. Especially with potatoes. Dr. McDougall discusses this and recommends cooking your potatoes/rice and cooling before consuming. Even reheated the next day will contain more resistant starch which is great for your gut. (Dr Greger have a number of videos on beans and the 2nd meal effect - NutritionFacts.org) So interesting learning about nutrition and extremely grateful for people like Garbanzo Girl!

    Excellent, excellent vlogs! Just love your style & explanations. Also you keep a nice pace so ppl can keep up w/you & digest what you’re saying, no pun intended.
    Saw another vegan meal prepper’s channel who came up in my YT feed today. It seemed like she was trying to be like you & failing miserably. Talked a mile a minute w/no science either. I couldn’t believe how many views & subs she has. Kept wanting to comment, “Go check out Garbanzo Girl’s” channel. Oy!
    Keep up the great work. I’m learning so much from you & moving closer & closer to fully committing to a vegan (not vegetarian) lifestyle-your cheese vlog really got to me. Ty sooo much.✌🏼
