    My brother, I just bought a Craftsman m110 from marketplace and in the description were no issues with the motor, however, when I went to pick it up I found out that it has set for 2 years and it wouldn't crank up. So the husband told me instead of $100 give him $75 for the more in that I will have to get it serviced... Well I'm so proud to say that for the first time in my life I followed UA-cam and had taken the carburetor apart and got it started by the grace of God myself! 🤗 I thank you so much for your layman termed video and may God bless you further in your knowledge! 🤗

    Fiskars StaySharp Max Reel Mower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend This is what all push mowers should strive for. It was easy to push. It cut the lawn. The blades are sharp, very sharp. The one minus that everyone should be aware of is you need to be very careful taking the cutting unit out of the box. There’s a plastic guard so you don’t cut fingers as you take the main unit out of the box but it’s not taped down. As I took the unit out, I ended cutting a piece of my shirt. The plastic guard moved and my shirt touched one of the blades.

    So glad I found both of your videos! I often read the comments of most videos and was glad I purchased Mechanic In A Bottle along with the carburetor cleaner. I did almost all of your steps, except for the float needle disassembly. I put about 3 ounces of the Mechanic In A Bottle in the empty tank. My mower sputtered but didn't start. Pulled a few times nothing. Took the air filter back often and sprayed some carb cleaner and starter into the assembly. Again the mower started, but stalled. Used the carb cleaner again and the mower finally started!
    For the first ten seconds it didn't sound like it would it stay running. I tried a strap around the auto shutoff handle so that I could add some fuel before the Mechanic In A Bottle ran dry. I added less than half a tank and lower it idle and adjust itself for about three minutes, until it was no longer surging. Then I cut the grass until I ran out of gas. After adding more fuel the mower started right up.
    Thanks again everyone. I think this is my third season with this mower. I thought I ran out dry at the end of the season. I'll be adding with fuel stabilizer or the Mechanic In A Bottle at the end of the season to the fuel that used too run the tank dry.

I'll never buy a Craftsman product again.

      David, sadly your experience is like so many others. I know that the main problem with these carbs gumming up is the ethanol fuel we use BUT. The manufacturers should be held accountable to find a carb that isn't succecptible after just one season.

    This worked like a charm. We bought the same mower on the 4th of July last year after finally giving up on our 25+ year old 1994 Craftsman mower, which I rebuilt the carburetor on and gave a complete tune up on to no avail. I used this new mower several times last year with new good gas, the mower wasn't left out or anything, but it wouldn't start this spring. So, I referred to this video and cleaned out the carburetor with carb cleaner, then rinsed it with water, dried it well, and also used some starter fluid as he suggested, and it fired right up on the first try.

      @@jcx2bby - It's funny because it's not something I really ever had to do on the old mower until just very recently, but it finally quit on us. I may still take it apart again just to give it a chance since it is our old mower and is the same one we had from when I was a teenager. You can get parts for the old mower anymore, though.

    I did this today, new mower (from last year, I borrowed my friend's mower the rest of the summer) only ran 4 times and then wouldn't start. I had that white crusty stuff at the smaller hole, cleaned all places with a needle and blew thru it. I didn't remove the float but I did a visual check to make sure no gas was inside the floats. Mower started right up! I let it idle a bit and turned it off. It only took about an hour to do but I didn't rush.
    Thanks sooo much for this.
    I also have another "new" mower that only started 3-4 times, that one is self-propelled. I didn't feel like messing with it back when it stopped starting so I bought a cheap mower which is the one I just fixed. I will definitely fix the self-propelled and use that one.
    Crazy how they both did the same thing.

    Worked like a champ. My mower was brand new and I cut the yard once. The next time it would start but die immediately. I knew it had to be the carburetor. The video helped figure out how to get it off. One thing to careful of: the sediment bowl o ring will swell when using Gumout. Take it off first. I was able to get it back in but I had to work at. I found the brass jet had tarnished sitting in the box from the factory. Great video.

    Great video! Got the same mower. Last of last year's mowing season, it would start first pull every time. Sat in the garage over winter, first time trying to start today, and it wouldn't. Spraying starter gets it to turn over but it won't keep running. So, something in the carb, likely. So, what it the PREVENTATIVE takeover that might avoid this - is it draining the gas before storage? Using only non-ethanol gas? What? Thanks!

    • @jcx2bby
      @jcx2bby  6 місяців тому

      I think the best prevention you can do is to store it inside somewhere if you can, and drain all the gas out. If you can't drain the gas or don't want to, run ethanol free gas in these things. It's the ethanol especially when mixed with just a little bit of moisture, that causes all the stuff to build up in these carbs

    • @philipatoz
      @philipatoz 6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks much for your response. Did the cleanout procedure in the video. Mower is like new. Would not start afterward. BEFORE the cleanout, using starter fluid got it to turn over but it quickly shut off. Did the cleanout (no obvious dirt or sediment in carb), but no start afterward, tried starter again, and this time nothing at all. Last of last season, it worked PERFECT, started within 1-2 pulls. Also, drained all the fuel out, filled back with ethanol-free, and installed a new sparkplug. Nothing. Weird. Very frustrating. BTW, this model has no primer button. I even tried the trick of tilting the mower on left to help gas flow into the carb - no luck. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Nice job, and you're right about not bending those metal rods. They are super important to how well it runs and starts. But you got them backwards in the description. The first one you grabbed, that goes to the front of the carb is the automatic choke. It holds the choke closed and as soon as the mower starts the air coming off the fly wheel pushes it away and opens the choke. The other rod is the governor and controls engine speed.

    DUDE!!!! Thanks so much!!! This worked for me. I have the same exact model. It didn’t run the first few pulls because it had to get the fuel back in the system, I guess but it started right up after a few tries. I didn’t clean it with any sprays but just wiped it down. So Big Thanks.

    My mower went from being completely dead to cranking on the first pull. Thank you for the video! My advice to all who have used this technique and don't want to have to repeat: If your mower will lay idle for months, let it run until you burn every drop of gas. That's the root of the problem.

    This is a great video, and is very informative. However, the first thing I would recommend to start with is just spraying a little more starting fluid in upon initial check. My buddies wouldn’t start and had only been used one Indiana summer. I was totally prepared to take this apart and clean all the ports etc, but before I did I tried having the wife pull it while I sprayed the starting fluid. Once I got it started and it ran off the spray for 2 seconds, it was fine. Again, the video is great, but potentially save yourself some work and try this first.

    I have this exact same mower that was having this exact same issue and I solved it in 30 seconds...and this guy could have done the same thing. Modern gas has a fairly high detergent content and doesn’t usually gum up these little carbs much unless they’ve really been sitting a LONG time. All this guy had was a sticky needle valve-you could tell because it hung up before falling out. Sometimes the float can stick a little as well. Before you go taking anything off and start tearing apart the carburetor unnecessarily simply take a screwdriver handle and give the bottom of the carb bowl a few firm taps. This usually is enough to jar the float and/or needle valve loose. I did this and it started right up. Work smart, not hard. To prevent future issues put about an ounce of Seafoam in with the gas. Problem solved.

    Magneto clearance! Got one for free. Seemed pull start was normal. Fresh fuel. Would gradually start with multiple pulls but even then it would stumble on very low rpm for several seconds then get going. Once it started, it ran good. Spark was good. Compression good. Very dirty filter. Carb had been molested so I bought a replacement. Same prob. Checked valve lash and adjusted. Same prob. Decided to take engine cover off to see if there was a problem in there. Noticed the magneto looked too close to the flywheel. Used the business card trick to adjust. Fired right up. I guess the incorrect magneto clearance was from the factory.
