I saw Jackie Evancho perform live twice in 2019. Her voice is even better now. Her vocal range has actually increased and her voice is more mature with more power, but the same beautiful tone. Her vibrato and her control of it is perfection. She's recently said it's now easier for her to hit both high and low notes than at this young age in the video. This girl is phenomenal. Her concerts are amazing.

When I was younger, I used to create the "mature" sound, too, but with Broadway music. I'd stand up and blow everyone away by belting it out, and people would tell me all the time to go to Broadway... but the truth is that that's not how little girls' voices are meant to sing. The way she's singing in this video is an imitation of what she heard a much older woman sing, and while it's really beautiful and surprising to hear a little kid sing this way, it's ultimately not good for her voice.
Only the few great ones sound like they're imitating, it's actually their voice. Amira and Jackie don't imitate, that's them. The others don't sound like they're imitating because of the flaws

I love Jackie and her voice so much so I listen to her perform as opposed to watch as the actions and gestures are quite contrived... I hope she learns to tone it down/stop completely soon

Within 2 or 3 months after the AGT performances in 2010 that brought her to the world's attention, someone obviously 'coached' her to do more and her hand gestures became way over-done, her fans have referred to this time as her 'Sarah Brightman-Arms' period. By the time of this video in 2011 they were much better, and are more natural. She's singing songs of great emotion, and doing it with a proper amount of emotion, if she stood there with her arms straight down at her sides it would look ridiculous.
I agree with another comment below that her voice is truly incredible for a little girl! She must be studying a lot with her voice teacher and doing a lot of self disciplined practice. She is truly a talent God has blessed richly so we can all enjoy it. An amazing big voice coming from a little girl!

One of the most beautiful versions of this song. I like this version and Amira’s Got Talent version equally. Jackie sounds so pure and angelic while Amira has a slightly darker tone. If I were Jackie I’d be very proud of this performance.

pipoy palaboy, different mics give you different effects, especially when you talk lower quality mics. The breathing is because it's not a very good mic that they provided, churches don't usually have $1000 mics, terrible acoustics there too
