    Hey thanks for sharing the plans ! Is there an estimate about how much it would cost for all the materials used to build the CNC machine?

    • @HighlineGuitars
      @HighlineGuitars  5 років тому +2

      It cost me about $1,500 USD two years ago. It's hard to work up a cost because the info will change almost immediately.

      @@HighlineGuitars Yeah, it's damn near impossible to estimate, but I built mine based on all the info you had already provided and it ended up somewhere in that same range. Great design!

    Thanks Chris. I was just wondering about your buffing wheel design a couple of says ago. I just bought the plans, and they look great at first glance. Thanks, again. See you on the internet.

    Awesome Chris! Thank you much buddy, I bring all my projects to work with me and I use their machines (cnc) when I can but alot of the time all the machines are setup with jobs running in them, my boss would kill me if I tore down a setup, it's bad enough he gets pissed when I don't clean all my wood chips and saw dust out of the metal chips, Lol. but it is nice to have use of 4 and 5 axis machining centers! As far as my shop I share a small space with a sailboat builder (And drummer of our band) in the same small town as me and we've been talking about getting are own machine, we've been looking into some Laguna if we only wan't to cut wood, Or a cheap used Haas, used there around 5 grand but not only can I cut wood but I can still make my own hardware, since they cut any material just have to make more passes at a small depth of cuts to eliminate deflection... But maybe we can start by making your machine for wood at our shop, and just do my metal work at work, Thanks again for letting us see and build your machine!! Absolutely first. - I am ashamed for my comment, so I'm going to say that you are a generous man sharing your knowledge.

    I just purchased your plans for the drum sander. They look great and very detailed. I can't wait to start this project since I've been wanting one for a long time but can't afford a $1000+ commercial machine. I just wanted to let you know that the 2" diameter v 4L belt pulley is missing from your hardware/parts list. Other than that, excellent job and thank you!

    The plans are absolutely fantastic.
    Have you experienced any flex with making the gantries and other bits out of plywood? Seems to be a pain in the proverbial to find 18mm aluminium plates for the bits. I can only really find 16mm or 20mm for it. Oh well. :)

    Minus the router/spindle what is the cost for the materials to build this CNC Router? Do you have a list of all the parts needed for the build and where to get them? Also how hard would it be to reduce the size of it, all I really need is a working/cutting area of around 18"-20" wide by 24" long? Thanks!!

    • @HighlineGuitars
      @HighlineGuitars  4 роки тому

      Cost was around $1,365 three years ago minus the router. The plans include a detailed listing of all the parts necessary, however, they DO NOT include where to buy them. You can make it any size you want by cutting the parts to the sizes necessary to achieve the dimensions you need.

      One question I would have if you don't mind is: at this point in time to which kind of ready made CNC machine the one you built would compare quality wise ?

    Thanks for making these plans (and your videos!). Good timing, I've been looking into making a drum sander, I might buy your plans. Can you shed light on the motor requirements and/or suggest a motor? I imagine you're using a ~1.5HP motor; I'm having a heck of a time finding one that runs at the appropriate speed (~1700RPM?), isn't as loud as a table saw, and is available at a reasonable price point. The motor is the most expensive component, if I can find one at a good price I'd jump in with two feet and buy the plans. Thanks!

      I used one of these with a 25% off coupon when I built mine. www.harborfreight.com/1-hp-agricultural-farm-duty-motor-68288.html

    In previous videos you've said that some of the Chinese parts are no longer available and the US-sourced versions would be too expensive.
    What is the current status on the availability and cost of the parts that are spec'd in your plans?

    • @HighlineGuitars
      @HighlineGuitars  5 років тому

      All of the parts are available from a wide variety of sources. However, I do not have the time to monitor the costs.

    Would it be possible to make the parts list for the CNC available free? Just want to have an idea of the investment before spending money on the plans.

      @@HighlineGuitars I can appreciate that. I'm not looking for freebies, just seems counter productive to spend $30 before knowing if I can afford to build it. But, I respect your point of view as well.

    Could your plans be used to upgrade an X-Carve?

    • @HighlineGuitars
      @HighlineGuitars  5 років тому

      No. My plans are for a machine that has nothing in common with the X-Carve except the use of Arduino and grbl.
