I have Drive~In Memories as I was born in the 6o's and remember seeing "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" at a Drive~In around age 6. Also I went to a Drive~In as late as 1980 in Vermont! Many Drive~Ins left so get there this Sping! ☆☆☆
Those were the good ol' days. I'm glad I was born to experience going to the drive-ins, and enjoy watching those intermission ads. Many thanks for posting this video. 5 Stars!
I just upped my cholesterol count just by looking at all those drive-in snacks! How i miss the good old days of Drive-In theaters. Thanks for the memories.
I grew up in Brooklyn, so I only went to 2 drive-ins in my whole life, but saw many in TV shows and movies back in the late 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. I wish I could have went to more of them. Thanks for posting and the wonderful memories ❤😊
while people were piling into the concession stand my mom would pop open a cooler from the trunk and haul out sodas, beer, sandwiches chips candy, we'd sit there and watch people drop their drinks on the way back to the car. thanks for that memory of the Tijeras Drive-in Albuquerque
Too bad we don’t get bumpers like this to come along with them , I didn’t know there was 24 in Ohio I have 1 of the worst ones , I’m surprised it’s still going strong . The drive in itself is fine however the drive in is literally right next to some train tracks and trains pass by all the time you have to keep at least 1 window up if you want to hear your movie while the train passes by
Yes there is one off the Ohio Turnpike near Cleveland! A double screener too! I travel between New England and Iowa frequently and look forward to what's on the screen at the drive in. "Back to the Future" was playing there last time I drove through!
I sure felt really sorry that Martin's Music Center is gone for good in Lancaster, Ohio. And now it's Risch Health Care Center which is in that very same location as that currently defunct Martin's Music Center. But the only problem is that I've never-ever been to Lancaster, Ohio. Sorry.
We always brought our own sammiches and snacks along with a big ice chest full of ice cold pabst blue ribbon beer in the bottle! We said to hell with that over priced God awful crap they sold at the snack bar...especially after an outbreak of salmonella sickened dozens of people!
When you mean the 60s you mean the early 60s like before 1964 when things still felt like the 50s because these commercials seem conservative compared to the last years of the 60s
Not that I know of. The "snack bar"/"concession/refreshment stand" would have to have used deep fryers for the chicken- and with everything else they were preparing, it would have been too much for some of them to use and maintain.
Barry I. Grauman You're right, even though they did use the deep fryers to serve up French fries, which was another popular snack served at the concession stand.
Dolores Huntoon not really. Some had outdoor seating. Most of their business was just before the movie and intermission. Had about 8 mins to serve about a hundred people.
I would like to know if the couple at the coffee add at 6:00 are still alive..the people in these drive in adds are like totally gone or forgotten..we are talking like 60 plus years ago..
Here's my guess. Judging from clothes and hairstyles, I am thinking filmed in 1960. Man was 30. Woman was 28. Add 58 years (it is 2018), and man is 88, woman is 86. Or dead, more likely.
If we are talking about the same sequence, it looks like some sort of tomato relish that they are putting on the burger, which actually sounds like it could be quite delicious.
Drive ins back in the day werent really sponsored by other advertisers. They would instead advertise food from their concession stands during intermission times in order to entice customers to spend more money on their business.

That casual, jazzy sounding piece of music at the beginning is just so mellow. I guess it really hypes you up for snacks!
During the cops and robber sequence or directly afterwards?
I. KNOW ALL ABOUT THESE CASUAL PEOPLE AND THEIR PIECES OF MUSIC TOGETHER WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR FRIENDS

@Deacon Hoskin Shut the fuck up punk. Here's a revelation. Some punk is going shit on your childhood memories one day.
Before my time, but a very unique part of our history.
I've always enjoyed the art of this era
same here and in the late 90s with similar ads
They still have it here in the Philippines.
Love these old drive in ads. What great memories
Grew up in the 80's and we still had drive in's that had a lot of the 60's and 70's intermissions still. Good times.
Love the music and soothing narrators voice telling how many minutes until showtime! Really miss going to the drive in’
I love all these old drive in ads. I remember them well, all though they don't look too appetizing. But we're used to HD quality now 🤣...
I just upped my cholesterol count just by looking at all those drive-in snacks! How i miss the good old days of Drive-In theaters. Thanks for the memories.
I live in ohio we still have at least 24 drive in movie theaters still in operation.
One of the placards should have advised people to be sure to go back to your own car.
I used this as the intermission in a documentary I made.
Good stuff, good stuff.
Mom's going to love this in between classic movies. 💖💖💖💖💖
THE DANCING HOT DOGS AND POPSICLES DANCING AND SINGING WAS CUTE🍨🍦
Oh this brings them back. I worked in our local theater, and loved every minute. Thanks for posting these.
to this day I still have not seen coffee in the snack bar
Had so!
I guess I have been in a hurry to see my movie I just did not bother to look or ask
starr fisher Well, when you get back to that drive-in you were going to, when intermission is 10 minutes long, you can get some delicious coffee!
don't know when I will get back to the drive in
Oh, how I wish that they have rich & creamy-smooth ice cream milk shakes at the drive-in movie theaters!!!

I still remember the first drive-in film I ever saw..For Your Eyes Only.
Yeah, James Bond movies were made for showing at drive-ins. Fit perfectly.

"Stranded at the drive-in! Branded a fool...what will they say Monday at school?" Not gonna lie, I want every single food item I saw!
That was fun to watch, brings back some memories. Thanx for posting.
Wow, I remember those cheap Paper Coffee Cups with the Handle. Small weren't they?
The better for you to get a second cup. ;)
It's free refills, so a "small" is really just a "large, with some extra walking"...
@@KonElKent There's a Columbo episode that shows him using a coffee machine with a paper cup, I remember they were still around in 1988.

You can have any pizza you want, just so long as you want pepperoni or plain cheese.
