Bloody awesome shooting, Nick. One of my favorite late afternoon vistas is up the 4WD track to Steele Pass, as it overlooks the dunes from the South. If you are inventive, you can scrabble out a tiny camp in the gravel bed next to the road and shoot as the sun shadows the largest dunes from camp with a long lens. The purple canyons in the range past the dunes to the west form this brooding, other-worldly background with no sky, since you are shooting down on everything. And, in the morning, if you are lucky and really fast with your camera, you might get an F-18 Hornet or two between the dunes and the mountains, right over your camp at 400 knots. I wasn't fast enough, but it was a heck of a thrill. My reflexes do better with Barrel cactus and sand. Thanks for sharing your ideas and knowledge with us. I love this community we are all part of.
A little Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon would go long with this very nicely. Another fine video Nick. Thanks for sharing and taking us along on the journey.
Mate... this post was simply exquisite!!! the footage.. the editing.. the production... the music, the stills!!! well done!!!! your channel is getting better and better! Big fun of your work! I learnt everything about luminosity masks thanks to your tutorials! ;). I'd love to see how to edited the shots in this posts!!! 👏 🙌 ;)
Absolutely fantastic video. Your photography is amazing buddy. I love the way you put your videos together. Educational, and relaxing. I have learnt a lot from your videos, I appreciate your channel a lot. Thank you 😊
The great intro-shot, the atmospheric music, The dome-shot, the car-shot (oke, i will forgive you the hardrock music! hahaha), the dune-shot's, the dune-shade shot.... wow Nick. Your getting better and better. Actually... i like dune-shot's with a blue sky! Thnx.e.s.m.
So good to see another video from you! Both of these locations are within driving distance for me so I spend quite a bit of time out there. Kudos to you for making the long drive down here. Thank you for proving that you don't need awesome skies to come up with great shots in the desert. In addition to your awesome photos, I loved that drone shot at sunrise heading into the sierras. Awesome B roll here. You are giving Heaton a run for his money.
perfect timing with this video, heading out to Vegas next month and spending a day in Death Valley with a day spent in those dunes or Mesquite for the afternoon. Hoping all your videos give me direction out there.
The Alabama Hills and Death Valley are the Mecca of Landscape Photography. At the moment, there's a brush fire that started south of the Mammoth Airport and right now, is burning across Big Pine and the Cal Tech Radio Observatory.
Great work Nick! The Alabama hills are great but clear skies definitely happen often. I was fortunate last year and had a snow squall blowing over the peaks just at sunrise, so the underside of the storm lit up with the alpenglow too. Great tips on the DV sand dunes too. Looks like you had the place almost entirely to yourself
Great shots Nick! I was just in Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes and found them to be incredibly difficult to get compositions. So many footprints everywhere and hiking around really wore me out. Managed to get some but nothing as epic as yours. Nice work.
I would also go low, and take some micro shots while I was there. Just for fun. Different sand crystals reflect all different colors. Light passing through the silica is akin to stained glass,
Great to see you back in action and fully recoverd. I have noticed as you already mentioned, the new back, looking forward for the reviw, by the way great desert impressions !
That light painting was awesome and some of those Dune black and whites were killer! That very first dune shot with that leading golden line up the middle…👍🏻👍🏻

I always look forward to your videos. Fantastic all around, and that music is just so hauntingly beautiful, perfect for the loneliness of the dunes.
Beautiful photos and an amazing video. - Thank You.
I never thought that sand dunes could look so good until I saw what you captured Nick, really beautiful images. Thanks for sharing 👍

Stunning shots! I especially liked the monochrome shots of the dunes. Such exquisite texture! Had no idea such scenery could be found in the States!
Epic stuff, Nick. You’re amazing. 👍🦘🇦🇺
Holy sh*t, Nick - those skull rock images are incredible!!
Great video. Going to Southern Utah in May and there are a few small arches. You just gave me some ideas. Thanks.
Stunning photos Nick. 👌👌👌
The light painting in the cave is just incredible. Love how you were able to keep the stars so visible with all of that light.
The word that comes to my mind is Amazing. These are truly amazing images. Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you are on the mend.
Dang, loving the vibe!

Incredible details for night photography indeed. Do you mind sharing your settings for the foreground. Congrats and thank you .
What a masterpiece.
The time-lapse sunrise - Just spectacular
Your photos are always so well defined Nick
Sand dunes abstraction is such an inspiring theme...simplicity and minimalism of it 🤌
Desde España: fotos maravillosas AMAZING!. TANKS

Fantastic scenery/shots Nick - don't see anything like those dunes here in the UK! Also loved that B-roll of your truck driving off-road.
Beautiful work!
Well done Nick. I just had to watch this twice once on my big screen TV. It's just stunning.
You get Adam Gibbs to do your fluting on the music? Great video Nick and fantastic images.
That light painting was awesome and some of those Dune black and whites were killer! That very first dune shot with that leading golden line up the middle…👍🏻👍🏻
Nick, great work. It's amazing how something so harsh, dry and barren can be so beautiful.
Great stuff Nick, good to see you back in the saddle
Good to see you back and hopefully fully recovered.
