What's your go-to starting word? 👀
Faith
Crane
Opera
Learn
Heart
I like to play it safe and start every day with the word Entry, typically followed by Audio to get all the vowels. I find that starting with Entry gets me that occasional critical letter y and tells me whether it's at the end of the word or not which is really important. After that if I'm searching for more consonants I will often go with champ, chimp, chomp, or chump, depending on which vowel I have in the word. Or maybe Flesh for the letter e.
@WhoIsKrystal Sometimes I like to use these 4 words: Glide, Frost, Nymph, Quack
interesting - I like entry - I use 'poise' and 'laugh' and then 'forty' if needed. Audio is another good one I never considered. I got today's in 4 tries - all letters right from the beginning. Nice when that happens - rare for me.
People with “trusty starting words” are idiots.
@@woodedlane Nobody cares, dearie.
@@justicegusting2476 lol Obviously you did. Feel better now?
I prefer to start with a different word every day - and usually it's just the first thing that pops into my head. Of course, that means I don't win every day, but it's fun to mix things up.
Alternatively: look up the secret word ahead of time and brag online about how you got it “first try!!”
That’s what I did 😂
They will be on to you
"How To Master the Fine Art of Being a Jackass"
😄
😂and miss out on the fun ! No way!
First try is a lucky guess. I want to see you work it out.
I love that many books in the background were green (plus the vase? mug? on the table), as was the Nirvana shirt.
I start with Adieu and Story first, gets rid of the vowels, and the str letters too!
Mine are IRATE and SOUND
Mine is adieu and storm... Basically the same but m is more commonly used than y I guess...
@@Aero-rh8ce
btw...
"adieu" + "snort"
... is the same letters as...
"irate" + "sound"
I think leaving the "n" that late would make me anxious. 😅
My starting word is typically “stone”. It only uses 2 vowels, but all 5 letters are within the 8 most common letters used, and I almost always get some information from that word to make educated guesses that normally gets me to the actual word within 4 guesses.
My go to is “alone” - 3 vowels
My secret to keeping a streak of one word guesses is playing it first in an incognito tab. After getting the correct word, I then encode it on my tab that keeps my data
That's cheating though!
My first 3 words are Aired, Ghoul and Scamp, whilst it covers one less letter than your three words it covers all the vowels and only the a is double with it being a vowel it is in a lot of words anyway so gives me two chances of finding it's placement
I like to emphasize consonants over vowels. It's much easier to determine a word from its consonants over its vowels.
i once guessed the word "THING" and it was all in yellow!
i then realized that the answer is NIGHT
If you do , fjord, waltz, nymph, gybes, quick then you get all letter gone except x and v or double letters
Great video! Very likable host as well.
I thought I was something special with a 3.74 average, but then found out that Sweden is the world leader with an average of 3.71. (The US trails far behind with 3.9 something). So I started to focus and got it down to 3.59. My goal is to get to 3.5. Love this game. I used to start with Heart but then discovered that WordleBot solves most quickly using the starting word Crane. So I switched.
Irate is my main starting word. Today it allowed me to get it in 2. Pretty pretty good.
Fun video! I love Wordle. I do it every morning to wake up my brain and my sister and a friend and I share how many guesses and then after that we share our words. The one that stumped me the most was a word with NO VOWELS! That really threw me! I think of words usually having vowels. But now I know better! Oh and I always start Wordle with a different word every day. Using the same one would be too boring to me. lol!
Really comprehensive video! 👍👍👍
I got the word on my first try last week. I really enjoy playing so I was bummed it was over so fast. 😂
I argue that getting the word in two or more guesses is better than getting it on the first try
My top starters (I always eliminate C and common vowels and consonants. I also avoid using U on the first try, hence no CRUST):
CRANE, CREST, CRATE, TRACE, TRICE, CARTS, REACT, CRIES, COAST, ASCOT, SCORE, CASTE, SCARE, SCENT, SCALE, ENACT, ACTOR, CLEAR, CLONE
My starting word today was clown 💀
🤡
Got it on my 1st guess the other day when the word was OTHER. Pure luck.
I get every word first try lol
I start with audio, followed by tiers if I think there might be an 'e' in there. Getting the vowels sorted first helps me.
I have more 4 guess finishes than all other rankings combined. I got there by using my first three guesses to use as many consonants as possible. once you've cleared the board of those, there are generally simple rules you can follow to figure out which vowel and where it goes. getting the vowels first is novice at best... because every word has vowels. It's the instantly known factor.
Brag about a consecutive 5 game total score rather than a single game score: A+=15-16, A=17-19, B=20-22, C=23-25, D=26-30, F=
Thanks! 👍
I personally go for ‘Adieu’ as my first word. Gets 4/5 vowels out of the way first,
Or audio
I actually start with ADIEU. That way I can get 4 of the 5 vowels out of the way. Then follow it up with ROCKY or WORTH but only if there were no letters in ADIEU. I haven't busted since I started and am currently 100% after 62 tries.
Life changing
My seven-year-old self: I'm 10 parallel years ahead of you guys and it's called mastermind... I don't know why I loved that game it was just guess colors but yet it was so much fun.
I go with a hunch. The first word that comes to me is what I go with. I usually get 2 or 3 green tiles right off. Sometimes 3 or 4 yellow tiles. The best I have ever done was get the right word in 2 guesses. I have rarely used 5 words and never 6 and I have never lost a game. Yet.
You might have psychic abilities!
Stare is always my first guess, too!
Another good word to start with is audio BC it has four out of five vowels a, I, o, u, then for more information do trees since it has e and then you used all your vowels
Adieu is a good word to start with. I missed the word today because a letter repeated. I usually get a little stumped with words with one vowel.
Irate and Sound are usually my first 2 words. That way I've covered all vowels in my first 2 goes.
I start with poise and then depending, I go with aught. Then I have all the vowels and maybe a consonant or two. Since it's only a five letter word, it's not hard after that.
I always go for SHARK as my first guess 🙂
Works like a sharm
I like the starter word ROAST, usually followed by WEIGH, then PLUNK. Or JUNKY. Strategy may change based on the letters that hit.
Raise followed by mouth followed by fudgy (if necessary) has never failed me lol
Just used roate today. R, a, t, and e we’re all yellow. Then tried trace. Everything yellow. Crate, c in the right spot. Caret, c, a, and e are green. Cater! Correct
Roate doesn’t work for me
@@K41d4n yesterday was saute and it was perfect! I got it in 4 tries
I made a system to score wordle words (a good word is above 25-30 I'd say)
Highest score - 42.12 - ROATE
Lowest score - 6.99 - XYLYL
I start with the word "aurei". The majority of the vowels are in this word. If none of these are in the word, then you know it's a word with the letter o and/or y.
Today, 10 February 2022, I guessed the wordle in 2 guesses without anyone’s help.
First time tonight I did it on the first try. What are the chances. I’m still in shock.
Me too!
haven't lost yet at WORDLE Hard Mode after 141 games (sometimes because of luck :) ). Guess distribution is currently mainly at 4 (40%) and 3 (30%) which i guess is pretty average or even below. I start off with NITES.... this is a nice way to kick off my day together with NERDLE :D
Actually it's not true that ROATE is statistically the best opener. There are better ones like: SALET, CRATE, TRACE, SLATE, REAST, CRANE, SLANE, SLANT, CARTE, CARLE. They statistically give the greatest possible amount of information taking into account all possible later moves and combinations, not just the first guess... Check out the channel 3blue1brown for all the mathematical explanations and simulations, especially the latest addendum to the topic.
Roate is the best if you look at the first 3! The addendum only covers looking at the best 2, and the first video had the bug / not based on the wordlist.
@@ITR Hm but look at the best average scores in the table (at the right) at 8:30 timestamp of that addendum video ("Oh, wait, actually the best Wordle opener is not “crane”")? Opening with SALET gives an average score of 3.433 moves and ROATE is not even present in the top 15? but is only #2 when considering just the amount of information gained from a single opening word?
@@piotrbukowski9566 Ah, I think I see my mistake, I was optimizing for "most solved in 4 or less guesses" rather than average score. Might be a completely different answer then, I'll rerun it later.
The best is audio..u use 4 vowels
@@rugby_is_golden how is that good? You don’t have consonants to go off of
1:10 or just do corgi, it tests positions for the R, it has most of the letters in dingo and it could be the word
My first 3 words are usually completely different. Just trying to get as many letters as possible (depending on the outcome of the first 2).
the last time kayak was the word du jour reddit was a fountain of sad panda
also there should be more discussion on hard mode strategy. I'm of the opinion that your guesses should have at least 2 or 3 words in advance. So if you for example, stumble into a _ound situation (mound pound sound found hound...uh, bound wound round...) then you would have lost because the chances of just getting 6/6 depends on typically how many more than 4 versions of the word exist.
So unless you have to (and you dun goofed if you do) don't make word guesses that force you into guess a _ound word. instead you could guess say, brown and now if you still end up in the _ound situation you've ruled out bound round wound
i dunno. i dislike hard mode bc i dislike thinking in this manner. i just like my wordle streak which obviously is heavily weighted toward 4 and 5/6
I always start with ‘about’ followed by ‘smile’. I normally solve it in three or four guesses.
Haha I always start with stare too.
AISLE & YOUTH as first tries. Works everytime. All vowels.
MATES
ROUGH
PICKY
BL_ND
Checks 19 unique letters, all of them more common than the suggestion in the video which utilised C and Z, and the only duplicated guess will check a new position of 4 of the 5 vowels depending on what’s coming up yellow in the first 3 guesses.
BLAND, BLEND, BLIND or BLOND makes BL_ND the most versatile guess in the game.
Kayak actually showed up
LOL Adieu is my starting word, followed by front. I get all the vowels and often get it in 3 or 4.
I think the only times I've lost at wordle is when the word ends with "ing". There's so many possible correct guesses for that.
Not being native speaker in English Wordle is even harder because it’s so many words I’ve never even heard of😅
SEPIA has been my first word, but will see if Roate does better.
could ADIEU followed by WROTH work as starting words ??
My nephew used FROST this morning with luck :)
I always start with TEACH and NOISY
Normally, I'll go with TEARS as the first try.
3:50 talks about getting Geese one day then the word of today is Goose lol.
3 Word Combo: STAIR, (B/C/H)ONED and LUMPY
ADIEU is my starting word since it has 4 vowels in it followed by SPORT. It has the missed out vowel and the most used four letters in it
aaah!! I always start with audio !!
For 20/26, I do
Tubes
Fling
Champ
Wordy
For 25/26 I do
GLENT
BRICK
JUMPY
WAQFS
VOZHD I win 99.9% of the time
I usually use
Ocean
or
Tiler
For vowels
I start with the words ABOUT or ADIEU because of the vowels.
audio works for me... style usually pumps in a few... I don't get F very often and it bites me in the backside... I've written a bash script that uses "grep" against a dictionary I combined several text files to create... most of my errors at this point are keyboarding errors... octordle is a good stretch of the original wordle...
The strategy I do is email then soups just to do all the vowels
My go to words : audio, aisle, patio.
People always say to use adieu but it usually gets you not far. The reason is the word is usually complex
Brick, podgy, shunt, flame; my go to words
I prefer to start with 1 vowel, first, strap, ports, something like that with 4 good consonants
"is this the best one youve ever done?"
they ask as they look at a page that shows having done only 7 games ever.
I used to start with "IRATE" and then go on to "SOUND". That gives me all the vowels and a few of the common consonants. Now I just pick random words to start with because I'm an animal.
i use the word AROSE as it has 3 vowels and commonly used consonants
I take objection with the title. There is no way to guarantee a win.
I'll never forget, "movie" and "robot" fucked me up. 😅. Also Quordle is quite nice too; if you get bored of regular wordle.
"movie" ended my streak of 68. I had one guess left and guessed moxie. What a nightmare that was.
Best starting point for me is the word AUDIO which offers 4 vowels
I use AUDIO or ROUTE for my first word. I almost always get at least 1 letter in yellow or green using either of these.
just start with adieu to know all the vowels in the word
My dads mate does alien then mousy. Removes all of the vowels and the y which is a Demi vowel
I usually do it first on my iPad then do it on my laptop afterwards. I always seem to get it first go then.
I look for others to post theirs and it can help to give me some strategy
for normal mode i always do aisle, mound, crypt
Movie is my go to word in order to eliminate 3 of the 5 vowels
Spoiler alert for today...
I tried both your suggestions for today's BAYOU and three words actually works..
The four didn't sit well especially with FRITZ..
Will try both tomorrow morning and see how I go...
Audio adieu are good starters in my opinion
Tubes, fling, champ, wordy
I start with beans, and one day, it will be beans.
I use SMART or STANE (yes it's a word). For a lot of vowels, use ADIEU or LOUIE.
And BTW, ARIEL is from the Hebrew Bible, one of the names of Jerusalem (literally, "God's Lion").
Adieu and Story. You're welcome. 😊👍
The first word I go for are words that use the vowels.
Nice
strategy 1 works. i have never had 5 or 6 attempts and played 134 times 50% are in 3 goes!!
skein, graft, clump, howdy
I usually do roast and then mince ☺️😋
I also use STARE! i feel smarter already.
i never knew my wordle strategy is actually just wordle hard mode 💀
What about solving a 6-letter word, or a 7-one, 8-one, etc...
3:49 Not MAMMA, but it was MUMMY today 😮💨.
2:21 try
FLAME
BRICK
PODGY
SHUNT
