You didnt mention the differnece in wages and weather. Its hot as hell and you make a fraction of what you make up north. Good to retire, not so much live imo.
When I looked at the wages, it was actually closer than you might think. Certainly depends on the industry, but the tech jobs here bring the area's wages up quite a bit. Yes it is definitely hot and humid during certain portions of the summer, but you won't have to worry much about snow.
