I can’t wait to see how my Santa comes out Vladimir. Your videos just keep getting better and better. It is wonderful how you explain each step; Measurements, cuts, techniques and safety precautions. I’m learning so much from you. For a beginner like me, your videos are very helpful. Thank you!!! Merry Christmas.
The Nativity is just awesome, such a delight to look at this, your grandfather was a master craftsman for sure, thank you for sharing it with us. And your carving is awesome as well, a good thing taking after your grandfather, love this!
What a wonderful project, thank you for carving Santa. Most of all thanks for sharing the inspiration that your grandfather carved, fantastic! A very Merry Christmas to you from Gunnison Colorado! Peace, Blessings and love.
Your teaching is wonderful.. easy to follow, the way you explain and show is OUTSTANDING!!!! Love how to show the angles... helps so much. Bet you could teach a easy way to carve a face.. Thank you so much. and keep up the good... fabulous job!
Hey Vladimer, Just finished my first one and it turned out great thanks to your great step by step instructions. Going to go ahead and carve the second one from the opposite side of the wood. I see a few improvements I can make on my second one. The Nativity scene is a great family treasure you can enjoy every year and knowing it was hand made by your dad is so neat.
Thank you for sharing this little project,a very cool Santa. And thank you for sharing your Grandfathers carvings. He was blessed with a special gift and you are blessed to have this memorial to him. Merry Christmas from Mesa,Arizona !

Vladimir, thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for your tutorial on this piece it is awesome. I am going to make it! Also, thank you for sharing the nativity scene by your grandfather. That’s a great piece and family heirloom! I subscribed. All the best
Have watched many times and love this little Santa. I have been trying to make a larger one without much success. Is there a secret of proportions for increasing starting size for 2 inches or 50mm. I struggle with the length?
Hi. There shouldn't be any secret.. :-) When we multiple width by 2 we need to multiple length by 2 as well (and also the third dimension). Lets say it has 50x25mm block. to make it larger i need 100x50mm.
Subscribed tonight Vladimir it was a very relaxing video. Was the wood Lime or Linden? It seemed to cut easily, but looked darker than Basswood. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will watch others by you when time allows. Happy Christmas when it comes.
Cheers John. Lime and Linden should be same term for basswood family. My one stayed a bit longer outside and started to get blue stripes. Happy Christmas holidays
Hi I am so much enjoy your video I just made first one smile face! Thank you 🙏 I just want to know how big size wood you using ? It seems like little wider then smile face wood?
@@HomeWoodSpirit Nice! I have a OCCT 1.25, the Walnut Whittler and it's been great. I just need another knife that's a little bigger for roughing things out. Maybe 1.5 or the 1.75?
@@HomeWoodSpirit I'm just getting started, so I've been working on 1 and 2 inch blocks of various heights. I feel like that 2 inch range handles the level of detail I want better than the smaller stuff.
@@HomeWoodSpirit Thanks so much. Well i dint give up :) I carved a spoon that his handle is like a snakes tail. I love it. I ordered some basswood from Amazon. Like that you shown on a video. The only thing that makes me worry is that i order from Amazon for first time. I live on greece. I dont know exactly how the order will arrive but i hope it will arrive good haha
@@HomeWoodSpirit No haha. I live on greece and i watch english whittling videos. And they dont say how much cm is the thickness and stuff.I dont understant what to order :(. But thanks for replying :). I also bought today i copping saw. Im gonna try that wooden butter knife u did! :D

Thanks for the knife cutting tips. I am a beginner and these were very helpful. Would you consider carving nativity figures?
Hi and thanks. Yes I would like to do nativity. Hopefuly next year.
Only have a couple weeks left!
Teach us to carve a basswood Jesus!
I will leave this for next year. This is my promise! :D
Just out of curiosity. What type of wood is that your using? It's not linden/basswood is it?
yes it is. :-)
Which knife are you using? Looks like an OCC, but is it 1.5 inch or maybe 2 inch?
Yep its OCCT 1.5 inch. Good guess. Which one do you like to use?
@@HomeWoodSpirit Nice! I have a OCCT 1.25, the Walnut Whittler and it's been great. I just need another knife that's a little bigger for roughing things out. Maybe 1.5 or the 1.75?
Tony Wilson I would go 1.75 minimum. Depends on how big are your carvings.
@@HomeWoodSpirit I'm just getting started, so I've been working on 1 and 2 inch blocks of various heights. I feel like that 2 inch range handles the level of detail I want better than the smaller stuff.
Hello Friend.
I would like to know which wood you use to make the dolls.
Hi brother. This one is European lime aka Basswood.
Why aren’t you posting videos anymore?

Hi mate. It is 80mm lenght, 40mm width and 20 mm thick. Hope you didnt give up. Keep overcoming the obstacles man!
