So weird.. wife and I just drove back to Florida yesterday from visiting family in Louisville, KY.. on the way up, we are at that same O’Charley’s (my first time there too). Loaded baked potato soup is the way to go! Also - yesterday on the way back - a 12 hour drive turned to 18.5 hours because of traffic jams. Unreal the volume out on the highways now. Love the channel! Stay safe bud!

Porter greetings.🎄 You’re traveling in some beautiful, scenic and wild country.😎 You even had a free lunch on the side of the road, it didn’t get out the cheese and crackers. LOL🍞 Rules: Gotta have em, like rule #3. Can’t be waking up all groggy and not know where someone is. A bit much on the shoe thing, but they do tend to get in the way at times. Did you put the carpet mats in there just for the winter season? Good thing. And you carry a little vacuum.🧐 Traffic can be a killer at times, but you have a live person with you to keep your attitude in check and keep you warm at night. Don’t forget…”Make the trip and enjoy the ride” my friend. Blessings! 🥰😎✌️
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 🇺🇸 Happy New Year! I gotcha. They do help in the sound barrier department, from what I hear. I’m not sure how I feel about wood floors in a truck. I’ve not been in many that had them. Blessings, my friend! 😎🥰✌️🙏
I really, really loved this video. Like watching you and your wife together. (truth is, she is very pleasant to look at she walks across the lot and I'm sure there were drivers sitting in their cabs thinking the same thing) As I watched this on full screen mode on my desk-top computer monitor I found myself leaning forward in my chair and smiling. My wife had a class A CDL from when we farmed and when we were, both, Army reservists; but due to severe, rheumatoid arthritis she never rode with me over-the-road in a commercial truck. Everything you're doing and the roads you're on I'm so familiar with. Drove for Leeser TX, Inc.; Palmyra, MO and DOT Trans; Mt. Sterling, IL for over twenty years/two million miles. I also just like watching the view from your windshield and listening to the engine as you go down the road. I had that same Caterpillar engine in several, road tractors and a Steiger, farm tractor. Just subscribed several weeks ago; and I'm a huge fan. Have a CB radio in my Silverado Chevrolet pickup and will be looking for you to say HI.
Sarah, I'm so happy you got to go out on this trip with Kurt! You two are absolutely cute together! Remind me of my husband and I in so many ways! Lol I agree with the open truck stop walking, be prepared to run! Lol. But I get out of the truck at a truck stop by myself. But then, I drive by myself, I have to get out alone. Husband said I shouldn't go for walks around the truck stop, others might think I'm a lot lizard... haha... I don't think I look trashy. Lol. I have a NO SHOES in the back of the cab rule of the truck. Front is work, back is home. Slippers in the back to keep the feeties warm. Lol Tennessee has always been beautiful to drive thru, except Memphis. You two are great! Stay safe you two! Mr. Lizard! Funny!
Hi guys. Great vlog. Love joining you both. I have 1 more vlog 2 go than I will b caught up. Whew! Thank you 4 all your hard work. Hope the kiddos are having a good winter break. Love the trip with mama, myself growing up in the truck with my dad he also would not stay over night at any truck stop we slept at motels, and pee in the bushes when on the road. Very good rules safety around trucks. FYI bushes are cleaner than gas station washroom, just saying.
be careful in St. Lewis MO. I Heard many bad things about truck stops there. It's bad news there. Be safe out there. People only care about their own plan. Some have nothing but bad plans. Women should be especially careful.
Nice "farmer fix". If it works it's fine. You're such a sweet guy to look after your gals. I'm thinking that Sarah can kick some butt if needed, but It's best not to test that. Only true love can travel together like that and watching you together really proves that. Stay safe and God bless.

One thing I tried to teach drivers when I was an instructor (before my company said I couldn't do it anymore, apparently they don't like trainers teaching the pleebs to survive). Was NEVER walk directly in the middle of the parking lot, walk in front of trucks to where the driver can see you, keep your head on a swivel, and your ears open. Show extra caution around entrances, fuel islands and the scale. Never walk between flatbed trailers and loaded cattle or pig wagons.
Great video. I understand why you have your rules, especially for the ladies. However, as a trucker, I found staying in the confined spaces even more dangerous than being out in the open. Now, being the in the open requires your head being on a swivel which is hard to teach to other people. I never came close to being hit in the open. More than once, I had truckers about run me over when I was walking along the side. So, I maintain as much space around me as possible in order to give me time to respond. I'm also not so sure about the relative safety of rest areas either. Again, it is all relative and subjective. So, if that is your preference, stay in rest areas. Personally, I preferred the better Truck Stops. Note: I would NEVER spend the night at the Lebanon Pilot. I fueled there because that was one of the company approved fuel stops but never would I spend the night there. Saint Louis is a pit IMHO. Anyway, keep the sunny side up and Take Care.
