Its been insight, I am in Poland and the trees i have I keep losing, they are in the sun, and it hits 35c here, the ground is sandy and poor. They dont get the care,as we visit twice a year. But the shade would help, once the roots go down and age they are happy. They paint the trunks with lime, white. The apple treesand pears took 13years to come into thier own,.thanks for all the tips.

Really helpful video brother thanks! I live in south Louisiana where the summers are very hot and humid! My OWARI is in a 3 gal pot with good soil but all of the leader limbs keep dying back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!🙏🙏🙏

Okay, so give them lots of water and move them to the shade if they are in a pot, if they are planted then provide shade with a shade cloth between 30 and 50%. Don’t plant u less the diameter is at least 1” thick.
    Got it! Thanks!

Really helpful advice. We have heavy wet soil which my Citrus trees aren't liking so strongly considering moving to planting in pots. I Thinking I should have more control to provide the trees with optimum growing conditions. Cheers for the video. Going to save for future reference .

What kind of fertilizer do you use? How often in the spring & summer; how often in the winter?

Fertilizer every major holiday (New Years, Valentine's Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc).

I second that a mature citrus tree has a better chance to survive heat , cold , dry spells and any thing else . I’m from El Paso Texas zone 8 . My lemon trees (froze )died from top this year but are coming back due to them being mature.

Grafting them to hardy rootstock can help as well, but make sure the rootstock has the attributes you are wanting

i'm in socal and 2 years ago the rains were so heavy it leached all the nutrients out and my grapefruit got chlorosis and dropped a ton of leaves, it has fully rejuvinated now. Blooms are nothing like yours but at least it's setting fruit this year :)

Thank you for this info. I shared this with my husband and now we are getting shade cloth and posts so we can prepare shade for the summers until they mature. We are beginners and have the desire to grow trees but little knowledge. But we are learning. Thank you again.

My eureka lemon tree is just now flowering 12/17/21. Will the tree fruit with all this cold? I have the lemon tree in a pot. Purchased it during the summer.

My wife bought me 3 citrus trees from Costco 2 years ago. I planted them in late September/October that year. The lemon was fine but the lime and the mandarin died back and came back. This year the lemon had fruit but the other two just have green growth. Did the lime and mandarin di dying back mean that all that was left was the root stock and I'm not gonna get fruit as advertised?

What should we do to prevent or lessen the blow on June drop for navel oranges. I have 3 different varieties and the dropping every summer is discouraging.

Feel like I have stone fruits down but the Citrus situation seem very touchy here in Golden Valley AZ. Zone 9B. We go from near freezing to 90s in a few short weeks. I have babied 23 pots of Oranges, lemons, limes, G.F. ETC. for the last 2 years in my heated greenhouse. Then every Spring I move them to a 30% shade structure and this year they were going in the ground until ...I saw your post. I am waiting one more year for the calipers to become a more solid trunk. I will be putting them in a new section that has 3 sides of wind protection and no cover trees. Basically a bare lot. I have lots of room and could even go up to 20' or more apart but thinking that the trees may do better closer to help with moisture retention. I am new to Citrus growing but did purchase my trees from Reid at RSI so feel confident about rootstalks. My PH is a consistent 7. Any ideas on spacing/ prepping?

Is this typical for a Meyer lemon? Mine seems very picky, has been in dappled sunlight in a large pot, and seems to do the opposite: when I water it too often, the leaves turn yellow and drop. I've had it for almost 2 years, and the plan was to get it bigger before putting it in ground, and its put on a decent amount of growth this last year, with tons of blossoms and small fruit that later drops.

Thanks for sharing your info, great help. I am in the Caribbean and give water but lost 2 small orange trees and just replaced them. My small lemon tree has lost quite a few leaves and has a few flowers coming but it’s the first time flowering, but I keep them hydrated. May have to ask you questions later down. Thanks again! Question can mandarin grow from the fruits sold and you buy in the supermarket or is it a grafted plant?

Buying Trees From Local Places Over Online Is Best Because The Trees Have Better Adapted To Your Local Climate Over The Ones Online Those Are Probably Grown In Green Houses.

What if you white wash the trunks and spray the citrus trees with a delutes washable kids paint? Will that help the servive the sun?. Because thats what i've done to my goldnuggett mandarine and it seens to be doing fine. In full sun and i live in las vegas. And also do you think that I can grow sone rotal poinciana here in las vegas? Because I have sprouted two seedlings and they seem to be taking off pretty fast. The only thing that scares me is the cold in winter.

I got a Costco tree ... was gonna plant in pot... roommate said ground... I said ok let’s try... I’m now down to one leafy branch... it’s only been in a few months... do you think I could dig it up and put it in a pot? Like are they likely to be able to take another major move like that?

    Hello, Thanks for the video!
How much and how often do you water your citrus tree these days? The weather just got into the hot hot temps within a week (as it is approaching 100 degrees all this week). I feel like i never know the right amount. I do slow deep watering once a week for spring time, I also have mulching aroung all my yeard - a good 1/2 - 1 feet of mulch, but my one lemon tree which gets the full sun from morning to evening and is about 4-5 years old isn't doing well. tbh, it has never done too well, i have only gotten a few fruit sets each year and last year almost all the tiny lemons turned black and fell off. That said, it was a super super hot year last year without any rain, at least in my area in Phoenix so that could have been a reason.
