  • After just recently spending a week with the 2024 model, Genesis invited us to Fort Worth Texas to sample the updated 2025 GV80 SUV.
The GV80 is a very important vehicle and was their first SUV when introduced in 2020. This mid-cycle refresh adds updated technology including a new 27-inch OLED screen for driver info and infotainment duties. It’ll also include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with an over-the-air update by the end of the year.
Styling has been freshened up to follow the trend of the brand to softer, flowing lines versus the sharp angles of the outgoing model. Inside we get new colors and materials including recycled newspaper. We did notice that the center console’s leather-wrapped knee pad is gone, as is the small pass-through under the center console.
Power still comes from either a 2.5L turbocharged 4, which is the most powerful base engine among its competitive set of BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, but you can opt up to the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 of our model for more oomph. All models are AWD. All use a great 8-speed automatic.
The driving feel is similar to the outgoing model, but the journey has been upgraded thanks to the new Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Pricing starts at a lower entry point of $57,700 for a 2.5T Standard model but can easily creep over $80,000 for a fully loaded 3.5T Prestige.
What are your thoughts of this update? Did they do enough to what was already a stellar entry?

Let's just call it for what it is, this thing is gorgeous inside and out. And the color combinations are awesome and unique. Genesis the Koreans did a great job with this vehicle and it deserves all the awards, the attention and the sales. The only thing Genesis needs to work on is fuel efficiency, oh and specifically for the GV80 more padding in the seats, they need to be softer especially for the GV80s category. I'd buy this beauty ASAP.

What a fantastic review. Seen a dozen or more on this vehicle. Several NEW observations here. ... all appreciated.
    - rear hatch auto-open
    - screen background based on weather
    - first HUD shown that I recall (you said color, I saw white. A "me" problem?
    - non-massaging massage seats (setting correct expectation)
    Appreciated ride description too.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
On the HUD, it is full color, most of the time the info displayed is white, but it will display album artwork, turn by turn directions, and more in color.

How does the B&O compare to the lexicon

Easier UI. I think a better overall sound, but I’m not an audiophile.

Genesis is light years ahead of BMW BENZ and AUDI

The widescreen is boring and totally removes the character that was in the earlier models.
I always respected the exhaust tips. It was a bold move, similar to Acura but also distinguished higher trimmed models.

Not at all. before It looked like an elevated Mazda/Honda/Acura. And we all know how boring Japanese cars' interiors are. This is new, modern and refreshing imo.
