I always thought Bonecrusher was a better at a mile and a half than 2000 especially when he got past his 3 year old season I don't know why they didn't try for the Caulfield and Melbourne cups,he definitely would have run 2 miles,I guess trainers started switching the good ones to WFA racing to avoid the handicapper. Octagonal was another one I would say the same about.
What a race, there were some very good horses in that race. Love the old races. Bonecrusher was one hell of a horse.
Thanks for sharing these - Bonecrusher is my favourite horse but big red was just something special.
