Using a chainsaw as a turning chisel….what could possibly go wrong?😅. Great job!

Matt, just wonderd what wood you use and is it green orseasoned. I am a woodsman from West Wales and have access to ash and willow in big enough sizes so was wondering if you thought these may be suitable. Love your ingenuity

All of the wood has been salvaged so it's somewhat seasoned. I think this is the fastest way to get them roughed in and ready for the lathe. I'm sure both ash and willow would work great. I think maple is great to work with. My favorite wood would probably be black walnut.

@@MattPrice864 Total respect to you and your friend. My goal is to help drum carvers in West Africa conserve trees. I have be thinking about making a machine that can cut concentric cylinders from a log. A lathe is an option but a simplified down and dirty version of your design with a narrow bar chain might be more economical to build and better suited . Let me know if you or your friend can share more of your experience building and operating the machine you made, thanks!

I need to go see him for sure. Last we talked he was going to put a electric motor on it. Once you see it in person it makes sense but really hard to explain how everything works. Everything was made with scrap parts. I will ask if he's still interested in sharing. Thanks for watching!
