- In this video, I will be sharing with you a different way to color leaves without giving much thought to light and shadow placement. So many of us tend to think that leaves can only be colored in shades of green or yellow (for highlights). I will show you how to add in more colors that you may not have thought to add to your leaves. We will be coloring in Johanna Basford's World of Flowers. This is a very easy tutorial for anyone, whether beginner or experienced colorist, to follow. Happy Coloring! This is a full TUTORIAL where I'll show you colored pencil techniques on HOW TO COLOR LEAVES.

I abso-freaking-lutely love those colors together, they're gorgeous! Those colors would also be beautiful for an iridescent sea shell. That's what I love about coloring, it can be anything you want it to be; not traditional or predictable. Beautiful work Pamela!
Just before I came to this video, I was on a site that has Swarovski crystals, and I was looking at the iridescent finishes on some of the darker beads, the blues, purples, and had a random thought to go back there and keep the page in mind for coloring blends and options. :-D Then I come here, and my thought was you just "Iridesced" a leaf!!! It's gorgeous!!! What is the point of having a bazillion different colors of pencils if you don't play with the blends and come up with magical things like this? Using different colors, you could make pale pearl leaves or dark ones or light/medium/dark iridescent combinations, which are always applied over another color, so you made magic today. I loved it!!!
Omg you use my favourite 😍 prismacolor pencils ✏️ it’s beautiful
Love this Pamela. !!!! I have not been coloring for some time, a bit of shaky hands, but getting better ,
I have this book, hope to be able to follow you with this one.
I had my meds changed, and now trying to gain some weight (72 lbs) and getting stronger .
Hope you and hubby and family are well, best regards, and thanks for your coloring techniques 👍
Be well sweetheart, Maddy NY 👋 🤗🤩🥰😎
Thank you so much Madeline. I hope you start to feel better soon. I believe you will get stronger as the days go by. I hope you’re able to color again very soon and that the shakiness in your hands subsides. My husband deals with the shaky hands too and has trouble doing very simple things some days. Prayers being sent to you. 💕
Beautiful video!! Thank you for letting us knowwe don't have to color every nook and cranny! I have always felt that way! Your color choices are beautiful and so are your nails!
Thank you so much. I loved this leaf when I was done. I was going to just sit and color alone but so glad I decided to film it instead.
It looks very alive xx 😘 😊
I love those colors thank you
I wallpapered a bathroom back in the 80’s and it was the light teals and pink flowers. I’ve seen this combination make a comeback and I love it. Thank you for this!
So that color combination almost makes the leaf look metallic now (like a piece of jewelry make from titanium)...cool.
Merci pour ce tuto tres joli cette feuille je suis du Québec et je regarde souvent vos video que j adore very nice Pamela Thank you
I can't believe you can lay down these colors and make an awesome leaf!!
Hi Cecil! You can to! Don't be afraid to get out your coloring book and try the same thing on any leaf. Happy Coloring!
Beautiful, Pamela!
Thank you so much 😊
I enjoyed your tutorial - gorgeous leaf. I'm going to try this out now. I love your coloring techniques.
Beautiful!! 💖
Reminds me of some variations of African Violet leaves. They are a deep green with a bit of a violet pink fuzz on top giving it a purple, blue, green gradient if seen in the right angle in the right lighting.
Beautiful leaf.
Thank you! 😊
Oh my gosh! That turned out so gorgeous!! Now i want to color some leaves 😂 Thank you for yet another wonderful video.
Your leaf turned out so beautiful! I love watching you color! Every time I watch, it gets better and better!
Thank you so much!
Thank you Pamela, I know I'm late to this video, but I've only just discovered you, I have coloured this leaf along with your video, it's turned out pretty amazing. I would never have thought to use these colours together.
Thank you so much xx
Welcome to my channel! If you’re in my Facebook group, I’d love to see your leaf. ♥️
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I am, I'll post it.. thank you xx
What a beautiful leaf. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Love those Beautiful layers. 💖
Thank you!
Loved this color combo for my succulents. Thank you!! 🥰👍🏾
Such lovely colours. Thanks for tutorial. Well done.
Absolutely gorgeous colouring Pamela, I've never thought to use colours like this, it works so well, thank you 💖
Love it!
Lovely choice of colours that look like a shell trinket box that my mother's cousin sent from New Zealand,a beautiful iridescence the same colours as your leaf. I think the shell was Paua or Pua or something like that but so beautiful. Thanks for the lesson Pamela.
Gosh this is stunning, I’m gunna try this one out with my black widows. You’d never know about the blob at the bottom, great recovery! 😃 I was born on Friday 13th ! Lol!
Your finished leaf is magical. Perfect for johannas books.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Happy Coloring!
I love watching your videos. I’m curious if you ever show a completed page. I’d love to see what this entire page looked like once you finished. Was it just a variety of different colors or a theme? Thank you!
This video was just a tutorial and I've not finished the pages. I think I've used the same page for other tutorials on my channel for leaves. I just did a completed pages video that is one of the last videos posted on my channel. I also have several color alongs you can check out all in playlists. There is a new color along that I have just started with tutorials for every part of the page.
Thank you! That was so good! I just finished a picture that was a whole spread of leaves. Mine were not very imaginative. I wish I’d seen this first!❤
I'm sure you're leaves are beautiful! You can try following this tutorial on any other leaf. I would love to see how it turns out if you're in my Facebook group.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils Just joined! Thanks for having me ☺️
Gorgeous leaf! Love the combinations they are so lovely. The thing that happened to the leaf always happens to me too all the time and it kind of frustrates me a bit so whenever that happens I usually go over it with my white gel pens to cover the tear up by adding small highlights. There are times where I accidentally use a lot of pressure when I blend and something weird just happens to the paper so I think that's what happened
But man those colours are gorgeous together! Can't wait to try this technique out! Thanks for sharing!
Nice colors!! Its like a peacock color!
I agree! You could take the color combo and apply it to the peacock in one of Johannnas books. I can’t remember which one it is though.
You really have a talent and you are so creative! You have a gift fo this! Thank you for sharing! 💕
Thank you Mary! Don't be a stranger! I miss our chats! ❤
Very pretty. Reminded me of gem colours.
Absolutely beautiful I'm going to try these colors tyfs.
If you do, please share in the Facebook group. I’d love to see it! 💕
Very beautiful colours, leaves can be any colour you like 😁 beautiful colouring xx😘
This leaf came out do pretty. I like the colors you used for this tutorial. Great video!!!😁
Thanks so much 😊
Very pretty. Imperfections on the leaf is a good thing. Very nice.
Exactly! No leaf is ever perfect! That’s what makes them so beautiful! 💕
Gorgeous:) Pamelas your tips and tutorials are always fantastic
Thanks so much!
Loved this tutorial. Such a pretty leaf 😍
Thank you!
Very stunningly beautiful xx 😊
Thank you! 😊
This was so helpful; thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Happy Coloring!
So so so beautiful 🤩
Thank you so much.
Beautiful. Great tutorial. I tried hard but it’s a smeary mess. I’m going to try again on a different leaf.
Okay, your leaf is gorgeous! So when you do a page with lots of leaves and flowers, do you use these colors thru-out the garden for the greenery? Do you mix in yellow greens, too--I have to use the color wheel for my pictures. Have no art background.
If I was finishing the leaves in this page I would use the same colors, add others, and take away some. This way the color is brought through the entire page and changed up a bit so everything doesn’t look the same.
Reminds me of an opal
Do you still make videos? I used to color and finish in a day. Now it takes me long time to finish, trying to get better. I eventually will color the Riders Tarot cards. I have a book for years, but didn't want to mess it up. Practicing in many different styles.
Yes I still make videos every week. I am a very slow colorist too. No need to rush. Relax and enjoy! Happy Coloring!
Love watching the tutorial. The leaf turned out beautifully. Now what colors would you use for the flower?
I would need to think on that a bit. They would definitely have to be very deep, dark, and vibrant. Maybe another tutorial?
That would be great. I am anxious to see the fall leaves as well.
Very beautiful! Lol, mermaideques… Spellcheck didn’t like my interpretation, lol.
Yea! I said that at the end of the video. Not sure if you made it that far or came up with that word too. Don’t you just love creating amazing words and spell check not cooperating? Mermaidesque …. 🧜🏾♀️ 💕
I don’t see a list of colors used??
I did let you know all the colors used in the video as I do in all my tutorial videos.
Sadly can't watch it all due to the camera focus going in and out.
Oh I didn’t notice anything like that, it was a great tutorial with no focus issues
Thank you. I was wondering and was going to go back and watch it when I got home. I didn’t see any focusing issues in editing.
I had no issues either, I think the issue is on your end, maybe with the streaming quality?
I noticed it too. It refocused fairly quickly but it did happen a few times.
I noticed it too. The camera is auto focusing on the hand holding the pencil and it makes the page look blurry, but when the hand moves away the page comes back into focus.
Wish I had the patience required to put 25 minutes into one leaf….
