I became an Art Teacher to have a day job and keep making art on my own. The problem wi making Art your career is that your Art is what pays the bills. Which means you have to work your ass off. Hope your unique enough to get noticed and keep pushing yourself so you get exposure. And to me that take the love of making it away. It can become a chore. I’m an artist. I draw and paint because I have the need to do it otherwise I go crazy.. my desire has always been to find those students and nurture their skills and desire to create their own work.
I looked at your work and I feel like you could benefit from Alex's suggestions about doing the work every day. Draw like your life depended on it for a few hours every day. Draw the mundane. Draw everything. Learn about perspective and Draw using this knowledge. You have a good understanding of light Shadow and probably color but you need to get into it and really push yourself. BE ENCOURAGED!
These days, drawing better than a 3rd grader could land you a job at marvel, its not on the same level as you Alex..that being said, your work is amazing and your videos rock....
Advertising experience “tested my patience to draw things I couldn’t care for less.” Mine, too. It’s drawing the unglamorous stuff that will advance the storyteller. I wish Ross did more graphic novels. What a talent and what an intellectual !
“Especially when you don’t necessarily have a feeling that the world’s supporting you in the physical effort you’re making.” Story of my life and I don’t even make comics.
It depends, are you a writer, an artist, or someone whom writes and draws their own comics? Also Sweden, I hear is quite lovely. With best regards, from the USA!
But who do you get your stuff in front of to even have a chance? I know I in my bones I can do the work. But besides getting lucky enough to attend one of the big cons, especially in the pandemic, it seems practically impossible.
I have a question I was hoping you can answer, there is this kid i know, very smart kid very science oriented and is always thinking of a way to solve a problem he sees. He has this dream to take on the world using science like the fantastic four, batman and tom strong but he is afraid he might become a villain or lose his way. I know you might not give life advice but this kid wants to lead a life and have a cool lab and save the world like the people in comics. What would say to him
*Taking notes furiosly*
Did you do it?
I really like how Alex is 100% realistic here.

No sugar coating here...Master Ross tells it like it is. Bravo!
Its reassuring to hear an art superstar like alex say its draining, because its realistic, it gives me motivation
I'm a hyper realism artist, but my dream has always been to make comics
Where can people see your work?

Favorite artist till the day I die
You're my favorite comic book artist! I think this video is an inspiration to anyone in a creative field.
I like how he shows pics of the Human Torch while talking about fully-cooked artists.
I love you’re work and you have inspired me too make my own comic

Just suscribed (a few seconds ago) and you uploaded vid!!! 🤩
Always loved Alex' videos for their honesty.

Your art is amazing! It's like Marvel Comics meets Norman Rockwell!
OOO my favorite comics artist has a youtube channel let's go! Thanks for getting me into comics with Kingdom Come!
Marvels is your second comic I got. Haven't read it yet, I just got it this winter.
Alex Ross is a cleaver man.
I've heard rumor he's more of a machete man, but I think the guy who said that had an axe to grind.
Great advice. Thank you.
Thank you for this. Needed this
“Besides, who is going to give you a reach around?”
is there a written version of this video? I need it for a school project !!!!!!
You are amazing , Master!!!
Thanks!
Idk how to draw at all but I hope it works out in the end
“Especially when you don’t necessarily have a feeling that the world’s supporting you in the physical effort you’re making.”
Story of my life and I don’t even make comics.
Harsh but oh so true.
Also: be Alex Ross
i really wanna know, what type of courses do i take in college for this?
Your the best Alex 🤩
How does one go about self publishing? For me, im trying to break through in Sweden.
It depends, are you a writer, an artist, or someone whom writes and draws their own comics?
Also Sweden, I hear is quite lovely.
With best regards, from the USA!
Oh shit! This was 🔥💯🔥 Truth 💣
Ross I love you😩
Become a great comic book artist at home then apply.

Besides, aren't comic books a dying medium?
Step 1: be okay with poverty
What exactly are these videos? like is this part of a bigger thing or is it just these videos ?
Times Change
Wow 🤩
Id love to hear your thoughts on Zack Snyders Justice League ! Personally I love it .
I wish the picutres didn't pan. It really takes away the power that you get from seeing it all at once.
The Marvels is still the best comic series in Marvel ever.

What would say to him
😎😎😍😘😗
Uh I would say only do it if you really love it. Comic books are a dead medium anyway, so getting a career in comics won't probably happen these days.
Not true my guy
