I'm not usually one to rain on a parade, (I'm really not), but this is NOT ARS! The singer is the ONLY original member and even he left before any of these songs were written or recorded by ARS! I guess it's good that they are keeping the music alive, but to call themselves ARS, is not by any means accurate. On the 3 songs in this video, they are nothing more than a cover band sadly!!!!
Brilliant. Saw these guys at some small casino back in the 90's and loved every second of it. ARS had so many kick ass tunes, I still can't figure out why they weren't huge.
I live way up here in Butte Montana I just found the old ARS album and then start searching for stuff on here such a cool video how many members are originals I’m guessing the keyboard player the singer and the drummer anyway thank you for the post brings back such good memories from the 1970s
Since this video was posted in 2018, Dean Daughtry has since retired from the road. Atlanta Rhythm Section still has original frontman Rodney Justo as lead singer. I wish ARS could still play at the stadiums and auditoriums as they did back in the day. That would be swell.
Dean recently passed in January. He was the only original member who had been with them the entire time before his retirement and played on the hits during their heyday. Rodney was with them for their first album and then left. To call this incarnation ARS is really a stretch. No offense to the existing members, but none of them had anything to do with the creation and recording of these great songs they are known for so they are really just a tribute band at this point.
@@snaredude56 Aw, damn. Awww. And Gary Rossington just recently passed away. It’s a sad day for fans of Southern rock, and I am one. So now the entire lineup is making music in Heaven: Ronnie Hammond (vocals), J.R. Cobb (guitar), Barry Bailey (guitar), Dean Daughtry (keyboards), Paul Goddard (bass), Robert Nix (drums/original member), and Roy Yeager (drums/replaced Robert Nix in 1979).,
Keyboard player is original from the Classics IV then founded A.R.S. Dean Daughtry. This is the real deal. He was also with The Candymen, Roy Orbison's band.
Saw them in the early seventies at the Chicago Amphitheater, It might have been with Edgar Winter on his Frankenstein tour, not for sure though, can`t quite remember, though I do remember a great bass solo, great show!
I saw ARS at The Mill End Casino in North Bend Oregon. I loved Spooky, I'm not Gonna Let it Bother me Tonight, So in to you and Imaginery lover. I was in the third row; so I had good seats. I traveled 3.5 hours to see them. Wish they would have played Evileen.....I saw them in Portland a long time ago.
Only the keyboard player is left hear from the band in the 70s that you know the hits from....the singer Rodney Justo actually was the original lead vocalist but left before the hits started. These guys are ALL great pickers though...doing a pretty faithful job on the songs....great guitar playing.
Please post the entire concert. I got to the ARS show at the Big E in Springfield Mass last September and can't wait for the chance to catch another fine ARS show. Thanks
I saw them live for free way back in the early 90's in downtown Orlando. Too bad the original bass player passed away and they didn't play Another Man's Woman
I kinda hope that Barry Bailey does a few surprise shows in the future with these guys again. His guitar with Dean Daughtry's keyboard just sounds so magical to me in "Imaginary Lover!"
ronie an paul are dead , ok..it happens, but steve is a wonderful person an a great guitarist,i remember him sayin, hey man check out what im playin,i think a german strat style guitar, and nearly allways a rare 2550 marshall like i had for years, and then wheres justin, who had hair t o his waist nearly many years ago...........
Thank you very much for that comment, not the ARS I know of and listened to for years,SORRY DUDES keep practicing at the house, before you wanna cover some elses material
I realize the band needs to eat & pay their bills too, & I know the current singer was their original, BUT nothing will come close to the charisma Ronnie & the 70s line-up had. Not saying they should stop, but I agree with what someone else said- tribute band now. Like the 2 Yes bands.
It can't exactly be a tribute band as long as Daughtry and Justo are still playing. Once they're both gone, these guys won't even perform under the name anymore I'm sure.
@@mattmattiematthew9542 Well, Dean just died a month ago after retiring a couple of years ago. Rodney wasn't there and had nothing to do with a single song in this video, let alone any of their hits. On top of that, he's doing his best to sound like Ronnie. That's a tribute band in my book. Respect the original guys who created all of this great music and retire the name.
kep goin an playin them hits,an deep purple can do it,though no one is ritchie,....an skynyrd can do it,well keep on movin on my friends..before ronnie died many years ago, him,an justin steve an barry, signed my 79 strat that i got from muddy waters son,big bill morganfield, later sold it to a guy in europe........
Yes and he just recently passed away in January. Rodney, the singer was their original but left after the first album didn't go anywhere. Everyone knows Ronnie Hammond's voice on every ARS song. Dean was the only original and consistent member from their peak and the beginning and who had anything to do with the creation and recording of any of the songs in the video. Now that Dean has passed, I hope they will do the right thing and retire the ARS name.
This line up sounds great! Bands change & evolve so it's great to see The ARS still doing their thing.
Steve Stone is criminally under rated
They were my very first concert in 1978...Got me hooked on going to concerts...Good to see they are still out doing what they love!

My first concert in 1979
My HS Football Coach Was The Brother Of Original Lead Singer Ronnie Hammond. Training Room Was Always Blastin' ARS ! THIS IS A GOOD COVER BAND !
Yep. Not the original ARS..
Atlanta Rhythm Section performed “Spooky”, “So In To You”, and “Imaginary Lover”. And the band did a fantastic job.
We saw them live last night..... they sounded great! Love these guys.
Brilliant. Saw these guys at some small casino back in the 90's and loved every second of it. ARS had so many kick ass tunes, I still can't figure out why they weren't huge.
I wonder also friend
Great sound and video, Michael! Thank you for the front row experience of this great band!
I've seen them from 1978 till the mid nineties. My all-time favorite is Georgia Rythym. 💗🎵
They are one of Rock's Greatest Bands every
Je viens de découvrir. Super sympa, génial. Merci beaucoup 👌 👌

Bass solo from Another Mans Woman.... Top 5 in Rock History
Saw them at the Amp in the 70's too they were backing up ZZ Top and Alice Cooper on the Welcome To My Nightmare Tour, What a night.

Damn they sound great
Not many bands from the seventies have original lineups still intact. They sound good.
Not all original members but saf sounds like it.
Bass player is different.

ARS is still one of my favorite bands along with War.
👌
It's been said Ronnie Van Zant called ARS the best southern band he's heard. Love the jam on 'Spooky'
I believe that
I have heard that one also. Great tribute to ARS. Was surprised to see Rodney Justo out front.
Great!!! Sounds like Ronnie!!! Come up to Philadelphia/Atlantic City, NJ !!!
Gotta love A.R.S.!!
I kinda hope that Barry Bailey does a few surprise shows in the future with these guys again. His guitar with Dean Daughtry's keyboard just sounds so magical to me in "Imaginary Lover!"
Top...
Badass!
Steve Stone fucking rocks
Yep! Just not ARS stuff…..
Wow
Any original members in this line up?
Sounding tight in the pocket!!! Cheers!!!
Better lay off that K-2
❤️
I'm so into you ❤
Alright!!! Hey, you guys sound better now than back in the late 80's at the Jacksonville Landing in FLA.
justo isn't doing you guys any favors

no Ronnie, barry, paul.........no ARS
Sounds great still! Ya'll still rockin hard! Much love to all y'all!
Thanks for carrying on the legacy! Dig the rips!
no Ronnie, barry, and no paul, no ARS !!!!!!!
Bands get older, grow apart and change members all the time.... Look at other bands like The Eagles, Foreigner and Queen.
Thank you very much for that comment, not the ARS I know of and listened to for years,SORRY DUDES keep practicing at the house, before you wanna cover some elses material

Georgia funky southern rock pop blues at it's finest. Pick a label if you can.

We missed ronnie hammond.
looks like maybe the keyboard player is the only original?
