My wife & I visited Lisbon about 7 years ago and I absolutely fell in love. At the time, nobody was really talking about Portugal in general. But then, BAM, about 5 years ago it seemed like everyone was moving there. It's where I'd love to move, but I think we missed the boat on that, as prices are already getting out of our budget in areas we'd want to live (we'd only be interested in larger cities like Lisbon or Porto, as we're both major public transit/cycling/walking people and don't want to live anywhere where cars are needed). It's a beautiful country, though, and I hope to visit again sooner than later.
Unlucky my man,...But if prices are high foramericans imagine for young portuguese people with no wealth. Ilike Lisbon being multicultural, as it always was, but prices are simply ridicoulous at this point
@@joaocastro2416 The area of the US that I am originally from is like that. Now, a lot of wealthy folks have retired there and driven the prices up so far, nobody who's from there can afford to live there. Apartments in the tiny rural town I'm from now cost as much as apartments in the large city I live near, even though the population and job market is a fraction of the size. Those folks have brought in a lot of money to the region which has improved a lot of stuff, but a lot of locals have been left behind. I know the same thing happens to places outside of the US when a lot of people from the US move there and I'd prefer not to be guilty of that if I can help it. Everything is just too expensive here, especially health care. So, we'll see what the future brings.
Hi, you have to discover Aveiro, on the central coast of Portugal. Small but the most romantic and welcoming city in the country. 30 minutes from Porto and 2 hours from Lisbon, it's just perfect... And the food❤❤❤

Hey, I'm Portuguese. I'm 23 yo and I really love your videos, however, I just want to suggest some other places, that people usually don't talk about, just because they are smaller. I suggest 3 other places Like city of Coimbra, that have one of the oldest universitys in the world, and that inspired the hogwarts uniforms in Harry Potter. In this city runs a river and the old buildings creat this amazing views of a mountain full of history and amazing nature. You have also the city of Aveiro, is one of the most beautifull places to visit, and also called the "portuguese Veneze" because of the river near the houses and the boats that you can take and go down the river until almost the sea... And one more place I suggest is my home, the city of Covilhã, the gate to the highest mountain in Portugal "serra da estrela" that means mountain star, is the most beautiful mountain in Portugal, field with amazing small villages to visit with the most incredible views. We actually have our own sea, even thought we are clost to spain, we are so high up that in the morning the clouds creats this amazing illusion of a sea... In this area, where I leave you can find the most amazing cheeses, meats and that cosy feeling that only Portugal can give you.

Thanks, Dave. We have been over-wintering in Portugal in rented accommodation for a few years now and, while it has many attractions, we basically believe Portugal is a country of contradictions. On the one hand it offers inducements to ex-pats to live in Portugal e.g. non-habitual residency, weather, cost of living, laid-back lifestyle etc buyt on the other hand, it had many disincentives e.g. property prices (at least in the Algarve), golf prices, car prices, exhorbitant bank fees, energy prices etc. Surely it's long overdue that the Portuguese government designate a ministry purely for ex-pats to streamline the facilities it offers ex-pats. For example, importing or buying a car in Portugal is a prolonged nightmare. Look at the "quicksand" surrounding property purchase e.g. bureaucracy, regulations, additional costs and fees add-ons etc.
Just take a vacation to Portugal. One month, minimum, if you want to get to know the country North to South, which I strongly recommend, all the regions are different. Then back the following year for another month. You can focus on a region each year, this will allow you to not rush too much, and have some time to relax, enjoy the slow pace, sunsets, landscapes, a sunset dinner. Spring is beautiful.

I feel for all the Portuguese people complaining off all the California people moving into there cities driving up prices and bringing there crazy ideology. I can feel your pain as they are doing the same here in Texas driving up housing prices and still adhering to there crazy ideology which makes me wonder why they don't understand that they ruined California which is why they are moving why would the want to do the same to the place they are moving to?
C'mon...stop doing that. An increase number of Portuguese are being pushed away from their towns, cities and villages, being stoped to enter Regions where their ancesters use to go... this Tourism needs to be under strict Rules.
Portugal naming its reagions be like: "north", "central", "beyond the Tagus", "above the Tagus", "Lisbon and Tagus Valley"

Bigger soccer team Benfica 🤣🤣🤣🤣 No it is not! Biggest is in Porto
É mentira, Benfica é maior em tudo: Sócios, adeptos, estádio, títulos de campeão nacional, taças de Portugal e taça da liga 😌
Guimarães puts braga in apocket. And Viana do Castelo too. You really need to dive in the real stuff of Portugal. Such a bad selection.
benfica is not the biggest team
Never lisboa or porto , noise and people 🤮
I'm from porto and i hate Lisbon.
I was born in porto .. Lisbon is just garbage .. every portuguese agrees with me.
💪
Typical...
Olhe que não! Olhe que não! 🤣Sorry but i believe that's just based on stupid and baseless stereotypes. The truth is that there are all kinds of people everywhere around the world and me, being from Aveiro, i can assure you that those kinds of people also exist everywhere in Portugal (including Porto and Lisboa)... but not in Aveiro 😁🤣 (Great profile picture btw! Did you do it?)
Coisa parva de se dizer... Eu sou de Lisboa e gosto de todo o país, cada local tem os seus encantos. Esse tipo de comentário é redutor, ignorante e cheira mais a inveja infundada do que a ódio.
