Avoid a trip to the hospital by using these tricks to safely dislodge a stuck ring.
Step 1: Don't force it
Avoid pulling and tugging too hard, which could cause your finger to swell and make it more difficult to remove the ring.
Step 2: Lubricate your finger
Lubricate your finger and the ring liberally with hand lotion, petroleum jelly, cooking oil, or soap.
Step 3: Work the ring off
Turn the ring around your finger to get the lubricant underneath. Gently work the ring off the finger, turning it as you go.
Tip
Cover the drain if you are working over a sink so that the ring doesn't disappear down the pipe.
Step 4: Bring down swelling
Dip your hand in cool water for a few minutes to help reduce swelling if the lubricants don't work. Elevating your arm can also help reduce swelling.
Step 5: Try dental floss
Wrap dental floss tightly around your finger starting just above the ring. Lubricate the floss and then slip the ring off over the compressed knuckle.

In 1477, the Archduke Maximillian of Austria gave Mary of Burgundy the first diamond engagement ring recorded in history.
So what happens if my ring is actually stuck unlike the tutorial
I have just tried getting off a stuck ring for ages.then I watched the video and had another go tonight while I was having a bath.i poured on baby oil on my finger and followed what the video said it was very painful when I was twisting the ring around but I got there in the end.So it's a big thank you to the lady in the video. My finger is a bit sore but it will be ok in a few days time.I had the ring on for 15 years.
lies that ring was not even tight on her finger
The ring wasnt stuck but she telling us what to do if it got stuck -_-
Great Advice, mine was really tight... So, Had to cut off my ring after trying everything but kept calm as we tried advice.
Hahahaha love how there's a huge pause in the list for "lubricant"
THANK U SO MUCH UR A LIFE SAVER, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO THE HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!
yes!! the lotion worked well on my swollen finger!
Mine came off with very tight dental floss, first time in 12 years. Thanks
this actually works. I use soap as a lubricant all the time. The ice is kind of a no-brainer, and i used the raising your arm thing when my hand got swollen in an injury
Use the floss trick! Worked like a charm after an hour of fighting. You need the swelling to reduce, just relax your finger as much as possible.
i had one soo tight.. i just went on a diet... (because the ring was too tooo tight and tooooo freaking expensive...) had it on for 20 yrs and though the ridge it cut into my digit was a good fit, the rest of my finger went onto it's own biz and got fat on me. :D
THIS DOESNT WORK AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
You have to put it into water for a long time and lubricate it. Patience is everything
@@mishabell1098 water is not a lubricant water is not a lubricant water is not a lubricant
F
Ten years ago are u 50 years old
@@leahgonzales288 30 ahahaha
lotion with dental floss did the trick for me...you just saved me a trip to local ER!!!! Thank you!!!
That does not work for rheumatoid arthritis. had to go to Urgent Ca, it had dug into my skin and blow up so bad, had to have it cut off. And that hurt like hell.
for some reason I laughed my ass off when the lady said patience
Video one works great with the soap!
thank you so much i just had a ring stuck on my finger now i am just waiting for the swelling and pain 2 go away
oH GOD IM FUCKED
Lotion idea is best
Thanks for giving this idea.
Vaseline works pretty well. What I do now is put lotion on my finger before trying on any ring lol. That was too close of a call
i just tried all those tricks....but none of them worked....so just took one small scissor and started cutting the ring slowly....and it worked!!!
Yep its official I'm going to have to get my finger cut off.
Below Zero same
Below Zero same😭
Update?
I put my ring on backwards
Same
But by putting metal in cold water, doesn"t that make it contract?
What if the ring is stuck on with a watchful eye, and false commitment?
Thank you
lol i KNEW there would be a howcast video on this :p
All this time I spent a long time trying to get a ring off my finger and there's a video about it! wow now I wont ever wear rings I get from magazine's.
It worked!!
...and my ring was stuck on tighter then the lady’s in the video. It sure did hurt though
Lotion soap jelly oil?
@jespersschmidt
You used a translator.
Thanks for telling us about covering the drain AFTER you tell us how to get the ring off.
Step 1: Smash the ring with a hammer (which will cost a finger)
Did you know: Cats say meow.
I find that windex works better than lotion or oils. I got the idea from my custom toe ring lady who only uses Windex to fit toe rings over, what she calls "The lolly pop" of the toe. Ive suggested it to others and they all seem to dig it after they try it.
it works finally thank you ❤
thanks.
Thank God! Hand lotion trick worked..... Thanks a lot
omg thank god it worked i had to rings stuck on my middle finger for like a month and it wouldnt come off but i did the lotion one and it worked
Well ten years later and now I got mine stuck in the middle finger 😂 it’s not tight, just can’t get it over the knuckle 😅
Lotion worked best for me. My husband started with the floss and I couldn't take it, it was too painful. Then Windex but decided to switch to lotion. It took a few minutes but gently pulled side to side and pop, it came off...
'
how about a STP oil treatment,,,
only one drop on a finger then slow massage until ring take off,,,

man thanks allot my finger swelled and got worst while i'm sleeping it's so hard to remove
i think it would be a more helpful video, if the ring was actually stuck on her finger.
@Bloxcookies but then again...they did say AVOID a trip to the hospital...!
I LOVE HOWCAST they are the best
yes!!! vaseline worked. whew. thought i was going to have to chop my finger off.
always. and what does that have to do with anything?
Thank you very much. Applied ice water & lubricant & finally get rid of the same. God bless
Sweat under the ring helps too
hi im from asia.....my ring was stuck in my finger...then..when i watch your video......i did the step two....and it works!!!! thanks a lot hahahahahahahahahahahahah god bless you..... :)
of course the ring is on. they said if the lubricants DON'T work you can reduce the swelling of your finger to make the ring come off easier
Heeelp someone answer me my finger is swalling and the ring is like a little ring but its a real ring i dont want it to get destroyed plz helpppp meeee
please don't stick your hand in ice water, it may reduce swelling but it will also cause the ring to temporally shrink as the metal cools.
what if your ring is
...
a wooden ring????
John Kiser I know I'm a little late but is that true
Umm, what? Smh
actually this is handy, since it's really embarrassing if you have a ring stuck and can't get it off....especially if that ring belongs to someone else

I was trying on a mood ring at an Egyptian merchant selling sculptures and souveniers from Egypt, and it got stuck on my finger so the person got it off with some AMAZING smelling oil,so atleast my hand smelled great after words...
@dunebuggy4000 Actually the capital, with an "A", of Australia is not Sydney but Canberra.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@BloodudeXD it contracts your finger tissue faster though. And acts like the vaseline too help it slip off :)
Honestly, you really shouldn't use lubricant of any kind, unless it is a last resort. The oils and chemicals in lubricants can damage the ring or discolor the metal. You can easily remove the ring from your finger with just dental floss or string, as long as your finger isn't to swollen .
omg.... thank you!!! this video tutorial really worked for me!!! :D just got my ring off .
I used baby lotion.
ITS NOT WORKING HELP ME IM SO SCARED
Waffles&Bubbles Gaming! Hey did u end up removing that thing?
@@Flat_s0da He didn't, he lost his hand. Unrelated to the ring.
What you'll need: A sharp knife...Balls...a TV a PS3 (Spoilers)
Step 1:Play heavy rain and then have the character cut his finger off to give you the idea of how it's done
Step 2:Using the sharp knife, place it on top of your finger then raise it high
Step 3:Slam the knife down and your finger should bleed
Step 4:Use a paper towel and bandages to stop the bleeding
Step 5:Celebrate your victory
Did you know: this way hurts more
HOW HAVE I NOW GOT AN EXTRA FINGER

Well, I'm Polish so you try to spell something in Polish, we'll see how good you are.

My stupid fucking uncle tried to use a circular saw on his son's swollen finger ring. I kid you not. Fortunately, he didn't lose anything.
You will need:
Toothed Knife
Lighter
Optional: Large amounts of liquor
