Remove A Ring Stuck On A Sore Swollen Finger With Dental Floss

- Video tutorial on how to remove a ring that is badly stuck on a swollen or arthritic finger, with dental floss or thread when its jammed and starting to cut off circulation. Don't get out your pliers and ruin your engagement ring or wedding ring. Save yourself a trip to the hospital emergency department and use the dental floss string trick. Should also work on a toe ring.

The hardest part is getting it over the swollen knuckle If your finger is turning blue and it still will not come off you can lubricate your finger with vegetable oil, windex, dish washing detergent, soap or some other non dangerous lubricant.
Will not work for nose ring, ear ring, belly button ring or other types of piercing.

this really works, my finger was so swollen it was turning blue it hurt like mad whilst doing but very pleased I didn't have to have my wedding ring cut off.

Liar
Literally, if I haven't tried this method at least 15 times than not at all... it never worked. My wedding ring was stuck for 5 years. I tried this method based on other videos about it, didn't work, even with using soap.
Then today I read an arcticle with some additional tips and this video, which was the first one really clearly explaining how you really should do this! And it WORKED!
If you were curious, these are additional things that could help:
1. Lift your hand up for a few minutes, let the blood flow down to the shoulder from the finger.
2. Put your hand in cold water for a few minutes. (Not ice cold, don't hurt yourself!)
3. Then oil on the finger.
4. Then this trick with the thread in the video. Really, guys, it is important to keep rolling the thread really close to each other. You may add oil before and after this trick.
Thanks for this video!
thanks for the tips ❤
I was genuinely relieved to get that ring off. That sucker was on tight.
WhyKnot thanks mate. I woke up in the middle of the night with a swollen finger and much pain. The first thing i did i put on youtube how to take out the wedding ring in the swollen finger. Your video did magic. Where did you learn this? It really saves lifes.
This literally saved my finger! I tried EVERYTHING and this was a last resort before heading to the ER. #grateful
I guess I have to go to ER then because it did not work for me.

Didn't work the first time my wife tried it, BUT we waited a day for the swelling to lessen. We also used a shoelace instead of dental floss (it dug into her skin less). Removed all 3 bands of her wedding ring with no problem. Thank you for the video.
It works with thread and yarn too (at least for me and my friends it did)
You can also add lotion, butter, foam soap, oil, ice if it hurts really bad after/before/during.

not gonna wear one ever.
Oh boy wait till you hear about degloving. Nsfl if you Google that btw
Skeptycx please tell me what that is.. I’m afraid of googling it
@@foretell6819 Basically it's when your skin gets torn away from the rest of your tissue. It can happen if your ring gets caught on something. Ripping the skin from your hand (or just finger) like removing a glove. I refuse to wear rings especially at work.
@@foretell6819 if you look up Jimmy Kimmel ring accident he had something similar happen. I'm not sure it was technically degloving, as it was more 'defingering'. Dude caught his ring finger on the edge of a counter and broke his finger.
Skeptycx what do you work as and how do you get it stuck?? The ring gets stuck on you or you get your finger stuck?
Was just in the ER waiting room and found this video. Thank you so much because it saved me hours in the hospital and also saved my engagement ring 🙏🙏🙏 it really worked!!! Hurt like hell, but it worked!
Congratulations 🥰
I just used this technique on one of my patient and got the ring out from really swollen finger within a minute .They were going to cut the ring .Thanks
This worked perfectly and saved me from a lot of aggravation and more pain! Thank you so much and I would be happy to buy you all the dental floss you need!!!!!! 🤗
This saved me this morning, you’re a magician!
Thank you so much, this worked for me. My finger was swollen with eczema - and I was about to head to a jeweller to get it cut off, this saved me a trip !!! Elated!
It works !!!! Omg !! I help my 91 y.o. grandma get the ring off her swollen finger! Thank you so much . You are amazing !
The fact that this man actually didn’t fake his ring getting stuck like all the other videos 💯
This worked like a charm! I am so grateful for your video. My fingers were so swollen this morning that I was certain that I would have to have both rings cut off…and then I found your video. Thank you!!!
This no longer work as patch of 2019

Shit
Thank you for explaining this!! I was aware that dental floss could help get rings off, but I had never seen the unwinding from the other side, I thought you just wound it until your finger was skinny, but I just couldn't get it. So I searched for videos and yours came up first, and the unwinding was budging the ring bit by bit, whilst moving the bulge from one side of the ring to the other! I had a purple finger for a wee bit,but moved along quickly, adjusting the wind here and there, but my ring moving forward the whole time, and now it's off! Yay! Thanks!!
Jammed my finger in a fall on concrete. The knuckle was starting to swell. Thanks for helping me get the ring off.
You are a savior from heaven! Thank you so much! It helps to have a friend or someone else pull the floss off of your finger. Make sure to tell the person you are with to go slowly and to pull away from the finger!!!
I just did this. Finger started turning blue halfway through!! Was super scared!!. But kept at it, and the ring came off fine in the end. Just had to keep winding more floss on. This works.
i’m so grateful for you and this video!! i was in so much pain and my finger was turning blue, all the worst-case scenarios were popping through my head and i quickly said youtube this!! the process you show really hurt, but i kept telling myself “it’ll hurt more to lose your finger!”
Wowzaa! Thank you! This absolutely worked incredibly great for me. I had a ring on my pinky finger for at least 20 years. My left pinky was getting swollen and I really wanted the ring off. It only took me 3 tries with adding longer floss to wrap my finger...Done! Ring off! Great!
Thank you very much - My wife's wedding ring is stuck on her finger so I'm going to try that - Already tried Vaseline and soap but that didn't work
Ok it did work after 3 tries - Thank you very much - God Bless
I've known about this trick forever but I always come back and watch videos of it in action every once in a while because it's kind of soothing. Haha i have never actually done it myself but I have had a few scares where I thought the ring was stuck. I panic every single time and I don't think I would be able to pull the trick off hahaha
This worked so well! It was a little painful and hard but I got the ring off my finger in under 2 minutes :)
THANK YOU!! My finger was getting more & more swollen the more I tried to pull the ring off. Nothing else worked until I tried your floss method. Thank you for sharing and posting!! You saved me a trip to the ER!
Yay it works. The last time I had a stuck ring. My brother had to cut the ring off. You only have 5 minutes once your finger goes dark purple/blue. Thank you so very much for sharing this video.
It worked! Not sure how the science of it worked, but glad I was able to save my wedding rings. (Had to remove all jewelry for an upcoming medical procedure)
my knuckle was extremely swollen, and no amount of baby oil or ice (to reduce the swelling) helped. I was really scared. I am thankful for this video and UA-cam. The house common objects were key! It took me like 10 times, but that ring came right off! If the dental floss isn't going through, try turning your file slightly to the side! Hopefully that will be the last time I put on an old ring before going to bed!
It WORKED! Took me a while to get it right, but it really does work 😭 thank you sooo much!!!!!!
Omggg it hurt so bad and turned blue, but IT WORKED!!! My hands have been so swollen and painful from eczema. It’s been a nightmare.
Thank you worked a treat on my wife’s wedding ring that had been on there 35 years 😁
Wow, we were prepared to call a Jewlers to cut off wife’s wedding band/engagement ring. Took two tries with floss technique and it worked perfectly. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TEACHING THUS RING REMOVAL TECHNIQUE!!!
This really does work. I’m on holiday and the heat swelled my fingers to the point my wedding band wouldn’t budge. It may not work at the first attempt. Try keeping your arm elevated for a little bit and cool finger with cold water if it doesn’t work first time. Give yourself quite a lot of dental floss to work with and try again after letting it rest a while. I really didn’t fancy going to an emergency room on holiday, so can’t thank this video enough 👍
ANOTHER HELPFUL TIP: if you are like me and couldn’t get the dental floss under the ring, use a slightly watered- down soap and rub it around the ring and surrounding skin. It allows the ring to twist so you can slide it off.
This help me ty so much
I just want everyone to how great this method is … I just had a ring stuck in my middle finger and I couldn’t get it off for nothing but thanks to this helpful video I was able to get the stuck ring off !
My ring size went from a 7 to a 13 so for medical reasons I had to find a way to remove my ring that was on my finger for over 30 year. With the advice from this video, some dental floss, within five minutes it was off. If I decide to put it back on, I will just use the reverse. Thanks!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! IT HURT ALOT BUT SO WORTH IT. THE RING WAS CUTTING OFF MY CIRCULATION SO IM REALLY RELIEVED NOW
It took 20min, my finger turned blue and it hurt like hell but the ring came off!!! I thought it couldn’t go over the bone but it did. I used sewing thread and added lotion when my finger went completely numb. I’m so grateful
Thanks for your video. I broke my middle finger 2 weeks ago & the doctors wanted to cut off my wedding ring yesterday. I tried your trick, with string & some olive oil for lubricant, as my finger was really swollen. my finger nearly dropped off, but so did the ring! thanks again 😁
Thank you so much! This very helpful to me. I just removed the stucked ring on my finger. I used thread because i dont have dental floss. It feels a liitle bit painful to my skin that is why i dropped hair oil on it and pulled it slowly with the thread and hand until it removed.

Thankyou so much! My mum had that ring on for 40 years and was stuck. That worked perfectly! Thankyou!
Thank you for this info !! My finger is so swollen and my ring was so stuck. I thought I was going to have to cut the ring off. I followed what you did and I got it off. My finger is killing me. But at least the ring is off. 😀.
Thank you so much! Other videos don't show the technique as clearly! I'm pregnant and thought I'd have to cut off my ring, I had tried everything else already. This looked scary, because my finger was turning black, not sure how safe that is, but it wasn't like I could go back at that point, anyway it worked! Saved my wedding band and my finger! Thanks!
You just saved my wifes wedding ring!! Thank you sooo much for making this video
OMG THANK YOU!! IT WORKED! I woke up this morning with a ring stuck on my pinkey finger just like in the video. I was losing circulation and in pain! You saved my finger! Thank you
Thanks for this video!! I am pregnant and could not get my wedding ring off! But!! It worked with this trick!! Thanks!!
Thank you!!! This worked!!! Tried everything!!! . Finger was so terribly swollen!! We where about to go to the ER
So happy!!! Thank you, thank you Thank you!!
Thank you for this video. I am having surgery in a few hours and I got two really tight rings off both hands using this method. God bless you!
thank you this worked a treat, just need to wait for my finger to stop throbbing and the soreness to go away now but my rings are tucked safely away 😉
That’s a shame about the dental floss being ruined. I hope you hadn’t planned on reusing it.
Bro acting like dental floss is a rare find

This Absolutely Works!!! I hv rheumatoid arthritis & my rings were stuck on my little finger. I thought I was going 2 hv to hv them cut off. Excess lotion or soap didn't work but this method did!👌👍👍👍
I used a hair pin and got the floss under the ring quite easily. I then added some soap, pull the floss and the ring was off! Thank you very much for sharing.
Or you could use butter. A lot quicker and less painful.
Yikes, this method hurt! 😳 good news is i got my ring off without desperate measures. Thank you.
Start wrapping closer to the end of your finger, like 6 or 7mm (1/4") up from the ring. Wrap the string Towards the ring, not towards the end of your finger. You don't need anything to push the string under the ring, it will slide over the string by itself. If you wrap the string towards the tip of your finger as shown, you are trapping blood and compressing it in the tip of your finger, which is not good. Try to find something thicker than dental floss if possible, thinner string will be more likely to cut the skin. To prevent re-occourance, get a divorce.
Marty Spargur LOL
OMG I was in disbelief. But it worked. I successfully took off my husband's ring. He was panicking quite a bit
I accidentally fell asleep with the ring on and I couldn’t get it off. I immediately thought of this video. It helped me to use a long piece of string and I had to keep wrapping it around after I got to a certain point but it works!
Omg it worked . It hurt as I was unwinding the dental floss at the knuckle. My finger started turning a deep purple . But the ring is off feels good too. Thank you for the method. My circulation is now back to normal.
thank you so much! We were like 'NO TIME FOR ADS!' heh, but your instruction was very clear and we got a ring off of my son's finger. thank you!!!!
Just tried this and it worked! Thank you so much - used washing up liquid as a lubricant..
Was having a panic attack and my finger was swelling and turning purple so I jammed jewelry pliers under the ring and snipped it off.
That's what I'm seriously considering.
Worked like magic…. slightly painful but persevered n got it off! Thank you
This works.
If possible wait for a cold day and let your finger shrink a bit. While unwinding ensure that someone pulls the thread away from the finger.
Dude!!! thank God I watched your video, my frickin finger was getting red to purplish. When I put the ring on last night it was tight but not bad but woke up and it was uncomfortable so I tried to get it off, it wasn't happening, then my finger really started to get swelled.
That's exactly what I'm going thru right now.. Slid on with no issues.. Woke up swollen and DAMNIT! glad I found this..
Woke up to swollen hands this morning and this saved my finger is was turning blue ! Thanks
wow thank you so much my wedding band was stuck on my finger cause it was swollen and I didn't want them to cut it off so thank you so much that worked out really good
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO VERY MUCH. I tried everything and my finger is so swollen I was scared I was going to have to go to the ER. I tried this twice and finally was able to get it off. Thank you.
Thank you so much, my secretary was waiting like 30 mins while I tried to get my ring off
Thank you for this. I used yarn which covered my knuckle better. I went off to the jewelers to get my wedding ring enlarged and told them what I'd done and they didn't know as they always cut rings off. They also told me to leave having it stretched for a couple of weeks to let my finger settle.
It worked but little bit of pain involved, still, saved taking my pregnant wife to A&E during Coronavirus so thank you so much
you just saved my mom a trip to the emergency room! she says thank you kind Sir......
Wow! I can't believe this worked and how much better my finger feels in less than two minutes.
It's currently 3am in the morng and woke up and realised I have swollen fingers my ring tight and was friking out. Looked for this video and has really helped the ring is out
Thank you soooo much. I had a ring stuck on my fingers for over 2 months. Now I'm so happy it's off!
I skeptical but your video helped me take my ring off. Thank you so much.
Oh, Thank you so much for this idea, pregnant and my swollen finger my finger was turning blue, you saved my finger. It does work. Thank you heaps.
Thankyou. Had a ring 💍 stuck on my swollen middle finger. It works! The ring came off. Thanks again. Su.xx
I got a ring stuck and not even joking my finger had swelled twice the size and was going blue. I was really nervous and tried this method, it was so painful and took around half an hour to do but it worked ! I had to keep wrapping the string Round 15 times , yeah I counted 😂
My bell shaped knuckles wouldn't let anything work, but this got the ring off really easily. Thank you!
Bro - this works!!! in 2 minutes got it off - I've had my ring on for at least 10 years + - did not think anything of it until I saw on TV some lady that her ring got stuck and they had to cut if off - then I tried to get mine off - and sh*t - I could not get it off then I started to worry - pulled up your video - it has 2.7 million views - then I tried it 2 times - on the second time it came right off - NICE!!!
When you wrap dental floss around put soap around your finger and it will be alot easier and it wont cut your skin
good advice!
That's what I did cause it was really hurting without lubricant
this really works and helped me save my finger and ring ! it helps if you have someone to help you i used cooking oil and when it got to the knuckle it wouldn’t budge over the bulge so we used a little stick to push the bulge under the ring and pulled slowly at the same time and it came right off
This was a last resort before the ER! You saved me, thank you!!
Sometimes fingers are much more swollen than in this great video. A nurse can cut off the ring with ring-cutters. We cut off the ring, not the finger.
It works, if it still gives an issue at the knuckles then add a little liquid soap and use your teeth to pull it off.
THANK YOU SO MUSH MY FINGER WAS TURNING BLACK!!!!
Thanks for the video! I had to grease my finger with coconut oil in addition to the trick with the string but this really worked.
OMGGGGGG!! This works. I had to try it 3 times and my thumb was so swollen I thought it was gonna fall off.
THANK YOU! I remember hearing about this when I was a kid, but could not remember the process with the dental floss, ring and finger!
I am amazed that it worked, it was painful but it came off finally thank you 🙏
Very painful, but works! Even on a VERY swollen finger. I also used load of olive oil for lubrication. Thanks. 🙏
Awesome advice! Thank you! Saved us a lot of money at the doctor or ER or even buying a ring cutter.
Really works! Helped my pregnant wife get hers off
Saved my ring thanks for the video however the pain was close to childbirth with some trauma however so glad to have it off in one piece
