- Having attended my first ever race at Fremont Speedway when I was just 4 years young, going back last Saturday night was, not only returning to my roots, but pure magic. It didn't hurt that NASCAR Cup Series driver Alex Bowman was in the house with his No. 55 Alex Bowman Racing (ABR) Ally-sponsored sprint car, the same company that sponsors his NASCAR ride at Hendrick Motorsports. Since 1951, Fremont Speedway at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds has been putting out quality dirt track racing to the delight of all...enjoy some grassroots racing Fremont Speedway style!

Keep up the good work, a joy to watch
Always appreciated, Wayne...thanks! HMM
Thanks for the 27min. mental holiday. This was wonderful viewing HMM.
You're welcome; thanks for your support...I appreciate you!
I like your interview style! I enjoyed this, thank you!
Thanks Herman B; I appreciate you!
Wow that's so cool grew up at atomic in the same era
I sure appreciate the fact that you know your history of sprint car drivers. Names like; Jan Opperman, Rick Ferkle, King Kinser, Sammy Swindell all Sprint Car Hall of Fame members indicates that you have been around sprints for a while now. I am 75 and saw my first midget race at age 13 at a county fair in Ohio. I have been to many tracks from coast to coast over the years. I have seen A.J. Foyt in a midget, big car, sprint car, NASCAR and Indy car. Something that I am very proud of.
I'd be proud of that too. What an interesting history of auto racing that you got to see! I've been around sprint car racing most of my life, from 8 years young on up. I got away from it for a while when I served as ARCA's PR Director for 22 years; but with that out of the way, I'm reconnecting my love of open-wheel racing. My step-dad's sprint car won the 1973 USAC National Sprint Car championship in 1973 with Rollie Beale driving. Thanks for your support Mike...please drop by anytime!
Not as familiar with racing as most folks commenting but enjoy the genuine passion articulated by you & the interviewees, HMM. Thanks again for your knowledge of such history 🤗
You're welcome Ave! I sooo appreciate your support...
@@HistoryMysteryMan you deserve it 👏♥
@@HistoryMysteryMan all your hard work & persistence paid off 👏
Another great video have seen many great races and great drivers in the last 50 years of Fremont
Thanks again, Alan...
Great stuff Don!!
Thanks, sir!
I’m so excited to see this video highlighting one of my favorite tracks. The interviews are awesome! Fred Linder, flashback to my youth! I’m so glad to watch this video. I grew up watching Mark Keegan race, and to get to watch his son, is so cool! Thank you!
You're welcome Tanya; I really appreciate you. Given the hundreds and hundreds of hours I spend doing this, it's so gratifying to hear from folks like yourself who appreciate what I'm doing...thanks! Please stop by anytime...
As always. Very nicely done.
Thanks again, Gary...always so appreciated!
Great video Don 👍
Thanks again ole friend!
Thank You. Great Americana.. and that jacket in the slideshow opener, wow.
Thanks Mr. West. So glad someone saved that jacket!
Jim Linder is always thinking, why he stays young.....😁
Now that's the smartest thing I've heard in a while. Now that I think about it, you're right. People get lazy and stop thinking because thinking is hard. But the people who do keep thinking sure seem to do the best over the long haul. Thanks for contributing!
Hey this is my hometown
Awesome hometown you have...love it! Thanks...
There is nothing quite like going back to the first track one ever went to, and seeing all of the faces that one gets lucky enough to meet over the years. Great job Don, looking forward to the next.
Thanks Don...always appreciated. The Fremont/Bowman thing really blew up my numbers...so grateful.
@@HistoryMysteryMan That is good to hear 👍
It's so awsome as a sprint cat fan seeing guys like larson, bell , bowman, and even chase elliot getting into dirt . I know larson has brought a big new fan base to sprint cars
No doubt...Larson is blazing his own path, and many are following. Thanks for watching!
I remember that race where the X car passed The King of the Outlaws on the last corner of the race ,Attica fans cheered for him that night for once. Kinser wouldn’t even shake Marks hand. He was surely surprised.
I wasn't there that night, but I always wished I was to see that history unfold. Thanks John...HMM
One of the fastest nights of racing I've ever been a part of started 7pm out of there by 930 6 cautions all night
I know! I wish I would have said something about that. Fremont ran an amazing program...thanks!
Might I suggest Rusty McClure as a future subject. There are many more I know and could mention, but one at a time. If you are wondering, I am in North Central Ohio and memories go back over 60 years. Keep up the good content...
That's a great idea...wonder where he lives? Thanks...
@@HistoryMysteryMan I believe Ashland, Ohio.
We went to Circle City Raceway for the 1st time and saw Alex Bowman in his 1st winged sprint car race and didn't even realize it was the Nascar Alex Bowman until I watched this video... Great video with good camera work and good content.
Thanks Mike; I really appreciate it. Please stop by anytime to share your thoughts and ideas...
@History Mystery Man Just keep doing what you’re doing it’s some great content! I’m surprised you don’t have more subscribers. They’ll come I’m sure.
Another great vid
Thanks Shawn...much appreciated.
great video
Many thanks!
He raced at tri city speedway. Our home track
Yeah...Alex was talking about that. Where is Tri City?
@@HistoryMysteryMan do you know where Franklin and oil city pa is. It’s like 20 minutes to the track.
Yes oil city pa
Awesome video, cant wait to go to the USA when covid is gone
And we can't wait for you to get here! Thanks for your support!
I was born in Fremont Ohio I to fall asleep ander those bleachers to at the age of 4 when my mother take as kids to the racetrack back in 1974 my last to going to Fremont speedway n Attica raceway Park was in 2016 I miss going there in live in Houston Texas now
You need to come back and visit! Thanks for taking the time to check out the video; I appreciate you, Danny!
I will make it back
The first car you see in the video is Ryan Ruhl in the background. He is a cool guy and I hang out with him sometimes.
Had I known that, I would have talked with Ryan. Thanks Manix!
@@HistoryMysteryMan Thanks for acknowledging my comment!
I think a lot of nascar drivers are starting to get more interested in this kind of racing because how Larson is doing in cup and thinking this may help them become better
I couldn't agree more. Larson is kicking butt and the world is watching. As much racing as Larson does helps keep him sharper in the seat no matter where or what. Thanks for contributing John; I appreciate you!
hey, I was there Sat. night also. Wish I clda talked to ya
I would have been happy to chat...thanks again, Jared.
@@HistoryMysteryMan would love to see bowman run on the pa tracks such as Williams grove speedway built in 1908 and Lincoln speedway built in the 40s the speedway palace port royal speedway
@@nightrun17vr23 Once Alex gets more comfortable/familiar with winged sprinters, I've got a feeling he'll be headed to PA. The Grove is way too iconic to pass by. Thanks Greg!
Was Mark Keegan’s grandpa named Gug?
I think Gug was his uncle; but I'm not 100% sure. Kinda like the Kinsers; there are a go-zillion of them. Thanks Gary...
Gug is his uncle. Roland keegan is his father. There was mervin, Gug, Roland that I can think of right now they are all brothers. Their families growing up in racing are trying to keep it going. 3 of my kids are Keegan’s. Keegan’s in this area are very prominent with BIG families. Keegan’s either own, wrench, or something at Fremont speedway. Gug raced also his number was p51. That reasoning was he dealt with p51’s in the military.
hay do you remember me
Do we go back to my Limaland, Millstream, Fremont days?
Alex, I learned years back, I call a women, Miss. I get complemented for it. Lol
As always over the top. you was lucky to have grown up in the time you did to see the greats in action.keep up the good work cant wait to see the next, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for all your support Greg; I'm so grateful!
