Helpful video! I’m using this in one of my songs.
Thank you very much! BitQuest is too awesome! \ʕ 。>ᴥᴥ
Man thanks for the reviews. May I have a question here? I got a jam fuzz phrase and a KTR. The idea is to make the fuzz sounds fuzzy and make it on the edge of MAXIMUM available dirty(in a good way). What is the order that you prefer? I'm now stacking it as OD to Fuzz. But my friend says fuzz should always goes the first. Would you please share your thought?
Thank you so much:)
Greetings and thank you very much for your support! First of all, "fuzz always first" is just another unfortunate stereotype, we always advise people to experiment and find their own unique tone, there is no such thing as "right" or "wrong" in tone, unless you just want to copy someone else. The JAM Fuzz Phrase is essentially a fuzz face, something with which we have done several tone guides on how to get all possible shades of gain, from clean to wall of fuzz! Definitely check out these videos for guidance:
Gain pedals (TC Spark, Maxon VOP9, Boss DS-1) before Fuzz Face:

Ananashead Effects Bolt before and after Fuzz Face:

Stacking OD in front of a Fuzz Face is one of the best kept secrets out there! Set your KTR and Fuzz Phraze as in the first video and try replicating the settings there! The only thing to keep in mind when stacking OD in front of fuzz is that you might have to set you OD volume lower than unity for your fuzz face not to clip too hard. In this case, your OD might have to be used only in tandem with your fuzz, because disengaging the fuzz will mean very little volume left. But it all depends on your KTR, a pedal which we don't have at the moment, so we will need you to experiment and provide some extra info:
What settings do you have on your KTR when stacking in front of the Fuzz Phrase? And is the Fuzz sputtering or clipping too heavily if you set the KTR at unity gain? Unity gain means for the guitar to be as loud with the KTR on as with it off. Let us know and we shall see from there!
And be sure to like and subscribe for more fuzzy madness and reviews to come! dʕ◉ᴥ◠ʔʕ◠ᴥ◉ʔb

Really appreciate your detailed reply and guide. I have done some test during the weekends. Here is what i got.
I'm using a Fender 60s CS roasted Strat with Poblano Pickup(a little more hot and the clean is more OD-edge feeling than normal ST)
when OD is before fuzz, for me it is slightly too harsh(bridge pickup). I can turn the klon tone down to keep the balance but I think that is a waste of the klon as it has the air feeling high freq... Plus the klon will not be usable as an OD by it self.
My final setup is as below(begin to end),
BJFE compressor
JAM retro vibe (uni-vibe clone)
JAM fuzz phrase ltd
KLON KTR
Analogman King of Tone
JAM Llama Xtreme
For the end of the chain, I previously using the Strymon Flint. But I recently got a hype of analog(unnecessary hype, I know) so I purchased the Crazy Tube Circuits White Whale Reverb, and still waiting for shipping

I forgot to mention the amp in my reply.
I'm using Hughes & Kettner black spirit 200 floor clean channel as my platform.
The reason is I can't drive the real tube to sagging. Too loud for my family... The black spirit is actually really good. Better than any DI kind of stuff I have ever used. When I play with my band it is a fender blues junior IV. I usually set it more clean. I mean, less od in the preamp(edge on clean and start to break), more volume from poweramp.
And in my chain, when I need a normal fuzz then just fuzz, when I need it to by more bright then go with KLON. When I just need more FUZZZZZZy rhythm then go with KOT right side to boost the FUZZZZZZZ.
When solo, the left side KOT mid range boost bring the FUZZ to a heaven FUZZZZ. Very aggressive, in a good way, I can get the Eric Johnson tone if I turn up all the wet stuff.
I'm happy with the tone now. Really appreciate for your video and help.
Please let me know if you need more detail of my setup! :)
@@PairofPandas OH, the other thing I want to mention is, when fuzz first, the clean sound with OD on and guitar volume down to 7-8 works more nature for me than OD first.
@@RuGuan Wow, that is an amazing setup you have there! We are very happy to know that we helped you find the tone you desired! So the Klon, like most OD's (with the exception of the Ananashead Bolt), will sputter the Fuzz Face (Fuzz Phraze) heavily at unity gain. So it's good that you placed it after the fuzz so as not to sacrifice the Klon's individual tone.
But that's interesting: how does the Fuzz Phraze play with that BJFE Compressor activated before it? Does this compressor work at unity gain with the fuzz without sputtering it? Not that sputter should be avoided, it can be super awesome too! Really curious as to how the compressor might stack in front of a Fuzz Face, we shall feature a video with them in the future!
Let us know if you have any more questions, and thank you so much for watching! And good luck on the Whale Reverb, spring reverb is very awesome indeed! ʕ◉ᴥ◉ʔʕ◉ᴥ◉ʔb
