Developers are pushing the land prices and real estate companies are also inflating the value of homes. The market is artificially bolstered to keep a glut like 2008 -2009 when consumer confidence in Obama was low and the stock market dropped and real estate market took a dive because there wasn't money behind it. It's going to crash and when it does. A half million people will have houses they cannot afford because the market is upside down. Possibly a million homes will be lost and the banks will foreclose on those homes, and many banks will close their doors.
I live in NC, & last night stepped onto grass near steps, and I jumped back onto the porch from the crazy noise. A pained screech. I got the flashlight, and it was a Cicada I stepped on. Who knew they could make any other crazy sound??
I gotta tell you, though, I love the sound of cicadas. It's the very first nature sound I remember after we moved here in 1977. So, for me, it's the quintessential Florida that I love!
Feds won’t approve my permit for a flame-thrower to take out the Cicadas… love it when they do that background chirping and then all of a sudden, the Cicada Maestro goes into the finale and they just belt it out LOUD and then quiet… I mean WTF? Do they want applause or some shit? 🤪✌️
The small and rural part of Florida we moved to some years back is, now, being taken over, more and more, by urban sprawl and housing developments where the houses are squeezed together so closely the air barely has enough room to circulate!

However nobody cares. Politician's and developers are too busy with their hidden lives and multiple estates to care.
Female panthers sometimes sound like a screaming woman. That sounds will send chills up your spine until you realize it's just a panther and not a woman lost in the woods screaming in distress.

Back in college I'd walk by a canal each day and the only time I was concerned about the gators was during mating season Speaking of gators at college, the families visiting from out of state were so hilarious. They'd take photos of the gators. Thought we imported them because they were our mascot

I’m not physically able to start over somewhere else, and couldn’t afford it even if I wanted to, and there’s a lot of people like me that worked all our lives to retire here. Now all the people that ruined their states because of the way they voted, are now pushing us out. The wildlife is also being decimated by all the building. The animals have no where to go. Their habitats are being wiped out. People don’t seem to care or understand that there has to be a balance and the balance is being destroyed daily. If we destroy the ecosystem we’re doomed.

I was cutting some lumber with a circular saw one afternoon... and was accosted by a cicada looking for a... uh... girlfriend. Same kinda sound made by the saw. Actually didn’t hear them in the video because the ones in my yard are so loud tonight.

I thought the panther was only a myth the parents told us Floridian children to keep us from playing outside after dark, but I actually saw one in my back yard once. It was the only time I've ever seen one outside of a Florida zoo. They must be very illusive
