Full replay coverage from Eton Dorney as New Zealand's Lisa Carrington wins the gold medal in the women's 200m Canoe Sprint Kayak at the London 2012 Olympic Games with Ukraine's Inna Osypenko-Radomska and Hungary's Natasa Douchev-Janics complete the medal line-up.
In 1924 in Paris, flatwater canoeing featured at the Games as a demonstration sport. Canoe and kayak racing became full medal sports at the 1936 Berlin Games. However events were initially limited to canoe sprint until canoe slalom made its debut at the 1972 Munich Games. Slalom racing was not competed again in the Olympic Games until the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Lisa was just quicker than the B final winner but overall the A final was slower than the B final!

Poland started strong but absolutely detonated down the stretch.

Great to hear the distinctive voice of announcer Andrew Cotter (he of Olive and Mabel fame). Really has a knack for announcing, knows the athletes, history, is attentive, and smooth. Carrington is so strong, technically efficient, and just plain fast. 😊

How would I get into doing kayak sprint races (like the one that Lisa did). Im a former female bodybuilder so I think Id do well in these types of races and I love kayaking...

I hear that there was a head wind in the A final so I presume that made a difference!

Closest race of hers I've seen, normally she's ahead early and the whole way.
