The idea of people thinking that red was evil in the first one was very good planning because in this new one we see that he seems more experienced and wiser (or older/same thing) which is why he had the advantage. Even though yellow was actually able to be a worthy opponent he was still reckless and gave it his all without thought or strategy.
I always hated the "he wears black and red he must be evil" thing, I love the anti-hero. Hate that phrase tho, wouldn't an anti-hero be the opposite of a hero and not just a hero who kills a*sholes?
There isn't an Evil character in this story. Neither of them went into the fight with any ill will towards the other. Though, that did change over the course of the battle, as Shinji started to succumb to Pride in part 2.
There is no good vs Evil because it's been confirmed that they both where really only fighting for a wish by the creator Yellow wanted to revive his village and Red..well I dont remember what red wanted.
@@kingjames6948 you actually got that backwards. Jun(red) wants to revive his destroyed, forgotten clan. Shinji(yellow) wanted to revive his brother. That's the wishes they were fighting for.
Yeah the reason it took him so long to get this out, was because a. it's hard to animate and b. he was receiving a lot of backlash for overdrawing on a bunch of pre-made animations from various TV shows and the like...
it's interesting that even earlier in their fight when Yellow gets back up and comes in with that charged punch. You can see that Red is fighting more in defensive style, as when Yellow goes in for an Punch with his fisgt tightly clutched, Red is using his palm to catch Yellow's Fist in his hand, which is a bit more of an defensive why to use your hands in fights. So even then you can notice that Red is not going for the kill or anything like that, He is going to protect. Really nice detail that is easy to miss.
Jun in the entire first round was just scoping out shinji. You can see that in both versions jun was able to read shinji's movements its just that in the second round, Jun can now effectively counter attack. The scene when shining was running in circles around Jun. In both versions you could see that red was able to keep his defence up throughout but it was more effective for counter attacks in the second one. Jun essentially had a download complete when he woke up from the finishing blow.
What i find so funny is that in BOTH videos Jun isn't going for the kill. Shinji was going for the kill the entire time, which is why he was so overwhelming for Jun in the first video. The thing that got me interested in that back when i saw the first one was that, the viewer isn't even told why they're fighting and what their goal is. The fact that the prize they were after wasn't revealed until the last 10-30 seconds of the SECOND installment is just masterful in my opinion. It sets Combat Gods apart from popular anime, which gives you the ins and outs of the character(s) and sometimes even their inner monolog. With Combat Gods, you literally have as much information as someone watching from the side lines, and that works so well for this animation because, like the relic they're fighting for, you don't really care about their motivation or what they want. You just want to see which warrior will come out on top and if that warrior is strong enough for what you desire. For the view, you desire entertainment. For the relic, we don't know what it wants from this, but there can be no Doubt it DOES want something from Jun. No matter what world, mythology, anime, or story you come across, Power Always has a price. The Greater the Power, The Greater the Cost. -typed the original comment while i was still watching from my phone and landscape mode's keyboard is hard for me to use ^^;
1) He's trying to kill him with a knife and sword for a significant part of the major beats of the video. Jun is most certainly trying to end his life. 2) It does have an intro with background about why at the start of the first trailer. The field where warriors come to fight and get their free wish. If I'm remembering it's just text at the beginning. Still short and sweet explanation regardless, much better than most.
@@dusky6280 be honest with me. After seeing the second installment, do you really think Jun was going all out. The fact that he WAS using weapons in the first one and how badly he pulverized Shinji with his BARE HANDS in the second should tell you that he was holding back the first video. It may not have been the original plan for the story, but the way the second part was done makes it very easy to see that the weapons Jun used were more or less shackles. Regarding the Teaser with the lore drop, yes. It does explain what they're after. that said, it is not necessary to watch it, as it doesn't give you anything you can't do without and still enjoy the story. Honestly, it's better to watch it after part 2 because doing so, in my opinion, makes the reality of the story impact the viewer more.
@@virilliquent6171 My point is that Jun absolutely went all out. The point is that he has MUCH more experience/is older/is wiser than Shinji. He has, hypothetically, decades more Kung Fu knowledge than Shinji does and THAT is why he won with such ease. He never "let him win" or "held back". He simply decided to not showcase his full abilities at the beginning of the battle- opting for defensive techniques and weaker weapon attacks thrown to test what Shinji was capable of (and he paid the price for it by getting smashed in the face). Extremely common practice in Kung Fu. An extremely wise play as well, whereas Shinji almost immediately used all his abilities throughout the first fight in an attempt to overwhelm, using all of his stamina and much worse for wear after than Jun was- which is not the way of Kung Fu according to Jun and it allowed Jun to not only anticipate the same attacks, but completely catch, counter, and deflect them with 10x as much force in the second fight. Power-wise they're nearly even and them being nearly even is entirely how the two of them came to fight each other in the first place lore-wise. Jun fought at max capacity, just like Shinji, but he won because his philosophy and experience was stronger and more extensive.
Yeah I wish more people checked out the Combat Gods II Trailer. Not knowing the reason they are fighting for or what the artifact at the end leaves the story very open. Which isn’t bad but I’m this short piece I feel it’s needed.
@@yungchapalot2655 honestly im more disappointed Jhanzou didn't just leave the story element from the trailer at the beginning of combat gods 2. Because not alot of people really cared about the trailer or didnt even know it existed
I love how people think Red was evil in the first one cause in the new one, it's shown that Red is wiser and more experienced which is why he had so much of an advantage. Yellow was reckless and fought without any real strategy.
I’ll give you a brief summary based on the lore the creator gave. So the area they are fighting in is a war torn civilization. Every warrior in this region has 1 goal. Too reach that Purple thing at the end, the thing Red touched. That purple thing has the power too grant any wish that a person wants. But the person must win the right too grant the wish in combat. The reason Yellow and Red are the only 2 we see, is because the battlefield is covered in a thick fog. And most people who walk into the fog are driven insane and end up killing themselves. Which shows how strong Yellow and Red both are mentally. You can actually see the huge fog clouds in the background of there fight. Yellow wants his clan back, as shown in his flashback. His clan, village whatever you wanna call it. Was massacred by an unknown evil. Red wants his brother back, we never see what happened too his brother and we are never told what happened too his brother. Red and Yellow are not actual Gods. But they are both so skilled and powerful that other people think they are gods. Which is why they are called Combat Gods. Red and Yellow meet each other for the first time in the first video. And the rest is history. Neither one is good or Evil, they’re both fighting too get there loved ones back. Obviously Yellow had a more “Corrupted” mentality and Red is more Wise. But they both have the same end goal for the exact same reason.
I'll admit, that I often think you talk a little too much, pause too much... But the fact that you are the *ONLY* reactor that has noted the One Inch Punch being Bruce Lee... So much respect to you mate. 👍🤘
