The best horror anthology of all time. Given the guys behind it, no surprises there. Saw it at the theatres when it came out, as a kid - scared hell out of me. Simply a brilliant production.
I know the segment “The Lonesome Death Of Jordy Verrill” is adapted by King from his own story “Weeds”, but am I the only one who thinks it owes a lot to Lovecraft’s “The Colour Out Of Space”? Farmer finds oddly glowing meteorite in his field, that contaminates the land and eventually the farmer?
I remember seeing this in 1982. The entire theater jumped during "The Crate" when the janitor dropped the flashlight. I will never forget that tension that scene brought. :)
I think King missed his calling as a comedic actor. He was brilliant in this! This was the first “R” rated movie my parents let me watch. My mom thought I’d get a kick out of it and she was right. She taped it for me but the tape ran out just as the crate hit the water. So that was the version I had growing up. I never even saw the last segment until I was in my twenties! Creepshow 2 was the first “R” rated movie my parents let me see in theaters. I think I was twelve or thirteen. The next one was Elm St 4 and I wanted to see The Blob but for some odd reason my mom said no to that one.
Fuckin LOVE Creepshow! Definitely my earliest Horror memory…Zombie Nathan Grantham and Fluffy used to scare the hell out of me when I first saw the film around the age of 2 or 3 (whenever it debuted on premium cable). Years later, I’d get to meet Fluffy (well, a Greg Nicotero-made reproduction of the attack head puppet) and sit in the actual Crate itself….before my Dad and I built a replica that now sits in my living room!
This is my go to horror film every Halloween. Although I didn't watch it during Halloween this year, I did watch several reactions and retrospectives like this one to keep the tradition alive. Romero and King were a winning combination. Although I like the Mick Garris The Stand adaptation, I can only wonder what Romero could have brought to the story. At least we have this, part 2, and Tales from the Darkside as compensation.
The video says Penn Hall Academy-- which is near Pittsburgh, but the picture is from Penn Hall School-- which, as noted in the picture, is in Chambersburg. The two locations are nowhere close to each other.

Always be one of my top carpenter films. Wasn’t till a couple years ago that I really sat down and realized that Carpenter was about on of my favorite directors based on my favorite movies. Kubrick and Tarantino are tied for second. Let’s see The Thing, The Fog, Escape New York, mouth of madness, Halloween films from him 1-3 (Friday 13th still favorite slasher series followed by Freddy), Christine, Big Trouble and They Live. Thing sits top always but I can’t pick a solid second after that from that list. Man does he make movies I can watch over and over.
I don’t know about you guys but I really wanna see that 3 hour cut, I usually end up preferring directors cuts even if most people say they’re too long, long ass masterpiece is still a masterpiece, you can watch Netflix or Disney + for 13 hours straight or whatever, you can definitely sit through a 3 hour movie, most of y’all did that for endgame and didn’t even blink 🤷♂️

Im kinda surprised there hasn't been more of these. I feel like they are an open enough concept where they could release a new one every year and it do well. Since they're short stories they could be easy and cheap to make. And the name creeps how is very well known to today's horror fans.

Thanks for the ride lady
Man. Takes me back to Halloween 1988. Back then it was on TV. Now, you'll probably pay big bucks to watch it just once.
@@chestercopperpot777 I’d like to be optimistic and hope the original footage could be recovered and a directors cut restored but it’s pretty unlikely, then again who knows? I’m sitting here looking at a blue ray copy of The Amusement Park so who knows what’s sitting in some Hollywood storage facility waiting to be rereleased? 🤷♂️
@@chestercopperpot777 yeah you’re not wrong, plus I live in Aus so the dvd/blue ray distribution is a joke, had to spend $60 to import a copy of Kong: Skull Island on blue ray from Britain because 2 years after it came out no major outlet in Australia had it on blue ray and only one had it on DVD, still waiting on Pearl to get any kind of release here and it’s been out on physical in the US for like 3 months 😕 so even if a movie gets released odds are I’ll have to import a copy, it’s so bad I spent $130 on a region free blue ray player just cause I was buying American region movies at Australian stores just to get some of the movies for my collection, utterly ridiculous
@@chestercopperpot777 firstly that your ex is a dickhead for selling all your movies and secondly wondering what you were in prison for? 😅😅 it’s cool if you don’t wanna say, if I was in your position I’d probably start collecting again and just avoid more prison and shitty ex’s if I could help it 😕 as for the tv thing I had something similar happen to me, 3D TV just stopped working one day, issue with the connection to the power supply, used to get super fried and watch 3D movies or play Xbox in 3D and now I just fkn can’t, agreed though, really hope they bring out some 4K or 8K 3D TVs soon, miss getting blazed and really experiencing movies like Avatar, Dredd and Dr Strange the way they were meant to be experienced 😕😕
@@chestercopperpot777 oh gees, I’m so sorry you had to go through that, at least you’re in a better position now 😕😬 also yeah sounds weird, kinda like a big ninetendo 3DS I guess, I have blackout curtains in my lounge room too so I was mainlining 3D 24/7 😅 highly recommend if you’re looking to improve your overall home cinema experience ✌️✌️
I think I was around 9 at the time and watched creepshow at the cinema with my mum . I remember covering my face with her handbag LOL as it scared the shite out of me . I think I've watched it 100 times since then . Love it.
I didn't know who Stephen King is when I first watched this movie as a kid (turned 16 in 1982). I thought his acting was lousy ("over the top" went over my head back then), but still found that Jody character enjoyable to watch. I felt "sorry" for Stephen King thinking this guy was never going to get another acting job. LMAO when I think of that now. 🤣
Since we have a creepshow tv series already i think its time to bring back another one of George Romero classic tales from the darkside and tales from the crypt
“The immortal Tom Atkins ”……in my head when he said that Hulk Hogan’s theme music Real American hit and I pictured Tom ripping his shirt off 😂.
Im kinda surprised there hasn't been more of these. I feel like they are an open enough concept where they could release a new one every year and it do well. Since they're short stories they could be easy and cheap to make. And the name creeps how is very well known to today's horror fans.
Meteor Shit!!
This movie came out on my 4th birthday. Lol! I remember it very well and I might have been just a little too young to be watching it. Horror movies were my favorite as a kid and fortunately my uncle's would let me watch anything I wanted to. Good times.
I was just quoting this movie the other day,"What's the matter Mister Pratt? Bugs got your tongue?"
I loved this movie from the beginning . I am so glad to see it finalky getting the love it deserves lately . Nothing has happened to Creepshow other than that .
Not really a fart machine that Nielson used....it's called a pooter. 😁
@@chestercopperpot777 no, you can buy them on amazon. but they're very difficult to use. takes a lot of practice. its a tiny barrell but you have to position it in your hand just the right way and squeeze and the air provides a raunchy fart noise. much like an armpit fart. its actually much easier to get a small tube from a hardware store and run it up to your armpit, and then just blow into the other end with your mouth. makes an incredibly disgusting "shart" sound if you put some kind of lotion or wet deodorant in your armpit first. :D
@@chestercopperpot777 I looked it up years and years ago cause I had to know what he was using but it was just too difficult to use
1 of my all time favorite movies. All 6 stories including the cartoon. Since I was like 5. WHERES MY CAKE AND HOLY OL JESUS. My older sister and I taped on our tape recorder when Stephen King yells THATS A METEOR. ID BE WIPPED AS SHIT IF THAT AINT A METEOR, THEN METEOR SHIT. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. At 4 and 9 we replayed it over and over and laughed out asses off
Still in my top 5 favorite horror films ever made. Lightning in a bottle, this one.
METEOR SHIT!!!
Heeeeyy just watched this last night. Classic.
I love Creepshow and especially the second one, I usually watch them both back to back almost every Halloween.
1. Ed Harris disco dancing is scary.
2. "This is the bad place."
What happened was that it became, and still is, the best horror anthology movie ever!!!
The Awesomeness that Is Continues! 👊😎✊🍁
This is one of my favorite films ever!!!
Adrienne Barbeau knocked the part of Billie out of the park . Had she plyed it tamer you would not have liked seeing the character get hers so much . I literally cheered .
EG Marshall as Upton Pratt is a close 2nd
Fluffy snack...
I watched The Exorcist 3 last night and recognized Viveca Linfors as one of the mental patients possessed by The Gemini Killer .
I love this movie!!
Leslie Nielsen carried a small fart machine around with him wherever he went. It was a Boston Terrier.
I love CreepShow ...... part 2 is good as well.. I loved The Native Indian story..... mannnnnnn...
For those that are interested: "Just Desserts: The Making of 'Creepshow' " [2007]; well worth a look...
Leslie Neilson played a great Villain, truly memorable!
Loved the Creepshow movies and i am a horror movie fan and a Stephen King fan!❤
Yes this is awsome I love it, very nostalgic for me and my closest family as we all love this horror classics
The Crate is an fantastic story. 😀👍
Would make a great prequel of itself? The entrapment and capture of a rampant Fluffy in Africa, by an expedition many decades prior? Here's my money - take it...
@@thedys70 I agree it's an great idea 💡. 😀👍
3 hours....is a copy of this cut available? If so where
Used to be a big fan of King until he turned into a LWNJ
What’s LWNJ mean??
@@DonovanWert Left-wing nutjob. He really is.
Left Wing Nut Job
YES this is about the only ' horror' movie I look for.
I love the shudder series, but I really think it's time for a brand new creepshow movie! Hell, shudder could make and release it! The official creep show 3! Because we all know that straight to video abomination in name only was not an official creep show movie. Look, I may completionist. If I like a franchise or a series, I get every bit of it. And I am one of the biggest creepshow lovers you will ever meet. It's a groundbreaking film for tons of reasons and a classic for tons more. But creepshow 3 does not exist to me. I refuse. So, Shudder, will you give us a proper creepshow 3? Like I said, the series is stellar, but we need one more movie!
I love that movie! Except the last one freaks me out because I lived in a trailer that was infested with cockroaches
Obviously the roaches thought they owned the trailer, and you were the pest!
