When Fangoria magazine did an article about this movie prior to it's release, they explained that Don Post Studios was used for the interior of the Silver Shamrock Novelties, and that they would be using their masks for the three. The Jack O Lantern mask was created for this film, with the skull and witch being masks that Don Post already sold. Since I already had a Don Post skull mask, I wore it to the opening day, and saw it in a Hollywood movie theater. It has been one of my favorite movies to watch during Halloween.

I never knew people hated this movie. I watched it back in the 80s as a kid and I loved it. Edit: Forgot to mention that Tom Atkins is probably the most underrated "horror actor." He was in this movie, Night of the Creeps, Maniac Cop, The Fog, and let's not forget Creepshow. He's definitely underrated. The quality of all those movies increases by a lot from his work in them.
all of the neighborhood boys went to see halloween 3 and we were piiiiiiiissssssed that it wasn't about michael meyers. we thought it was incredibly boring. i don't even remember anything about it, though.
I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid. I have it on VHS and DVD. I project the flashing pumpkin on the front of my house every Halloween with a digital projector. The kids love it. Ironic that they don’t realize what happens to the kids in the movie.
When our kids were in their teens we'd do double features of HSotW and Prince of Darkness or the '78 Invasion of the Body Snatchers for them and their friends. All those tough teens totally creeped out by a bit of art, it was magnificent.
Thanks for the video. Excellent job as always. Funny thing about this movie that I have come to find is almost every person that says it sucks, has never actually seen it.
I watched it the first time on some Saturday afternoon matinee on some lower broadcasting network in KC in the later 80s. Loved it ever since. Thanks for the video
Glad to not be alone in my love for this movie. I think the reason I liked it so much was the ending. I always had the distinct impression that Dan was too late. Talk about creepy.
I wasn't a huge fan but my brother loved it from the day we saw it in the early 80s. About 1990 or 91 we rented a copy and he made me rewatch and it's ben my favorite Halloween movie ever since then. lol People used to call me an idiot for liking saying how dumb it was and of course not having MM in it. My brother passed away of cancer in '95 and I can't tell you how many times he and I watched this during his last 2 years he was alive. Probably a good 50 if not far more. I'm sure he would be calling out everyone saying he was right all the time. He always said Colonel Cochran was his favorite villain of all time and I can't disagree. Dude was just pure evil.
A movie that people hated it when it first came out but now thanks to video sales and rentals over the years as well as social media has gotten a reappraisal.
Halloween ended in 1981 with Halloween II in my opinion. I really wish Carpenter would have gone with the anthology idea. Halloween III was universally hated when it came out. Honestly, I didn't know what to make of it when it came out in 1982. Over the years it became one of my favorite horror movies. Halloween III has an incredible creepy atmosphere.
Everyone I talked to about part 3 hated it so much! I was called "stupid" for saying this movie was incredible. Now they all say its great. The soundtrack is awesome too.
When I was a child, and watched this, I couldn’t figure out why Michael wasn’t in it. By the end, I felt ripped off. Now, however, knowing there were only 2 good Halloween movies… And this gem, I’m cool with it. Not on the same level as The Thing though.
Halloween 1978 and 1981 were the best with Myers. H20 was my favorite reboot. Halloween III was better than Halloween kills or ends. Just my opinion. 🎃
We saw this when hit the video stores in either '82 or '83, back then movies didn't immediately hit the shelves once it was out of the theater, it could take months, anyway... I still remember seeing the preview for this, along with some friends, and we thought for sure it would have been a sequel to part 2, nope. Like some, we didn't enjoy the movie at first, but it can grow on you after awhile. Its effects are dated, but its concept is unique for its time. If people go into H3 and completely remove any notion that it's related to the first two movies, you'll enjoy it, similar to Halloween Ends... lol Remove any expectations, and you'll have a good time.
Yay!!!!!!!! FINALLY! After years of catching hell from peeps it's finally acknowledged that Halloween 3 (and Pet Semetary 2...all I need now is for Hellraiser 3 to get proper appreciation) is a good movie. And I love it even more now because it's a time-capsule to the 80's, when kids would be satisfied with one of the three Silver Shamrock masks, skeleton, witch, pumpkin....when lead characters were allowed to have flaws...and every car blows up if tapped. Halloween 3, Tom Atkins you RULE!!!!!
After seeing a review of Halloween III on Cinemassacre, I bought the DVD from a local 7-Eleven for 5 bucks. To be honest, I actually enjoyed it more than the Michael Myers movies. The concept is creepy in more ways than one, the plot is inventive and way out of the ordinary for a Halloween movie, and it just stays with you even after that final scene. Whenever Halloween comes around, the week before the holiday, I tease my friends who are die-hard Michael Myers fans by singing the Silver Shamrock jingle, from 6 down to 1, finishing with "Happy Happy Halloween! Silver Shamrock!" It drives them nuts, especially with it being their "least favorite Halloween movie". 😄
I remember when I was just getting into to horror at about 12 or 13 and hearing about Michael not being in it I avoided it. About a year after I noticed it came on amc and I had it on as background noise. I didn’t pay attention at first but as the movie went on I stopped whatever I was doing because the plot and the cinematography pulled me in for some reason. After I watched it again and again and again and it got to a point where I was like I think this might even be better than Halloween 1978. To this day I still watch it every Halloween night and it’s in my top 5 horror movies of all time.
rewatched this recently and can say this movie is awesome! would've been cool if they continued this format. We could've ended up with some awesome stories. Halloween 1 and 2 still rock though!
When I realized that silver shamrock was a real toy company I freaked out in excitement at my first meta art imitating life experience! I was like 10 years old and got sent to bed without dinner cause I screamed "that shit is real!" 10 years later when NEO screamed that in the Matrix, I laughed twice as hard as anyone in the theater that night! Still to this day I have my silver shamrock Halloween candy bucket! I'll never let it go as Halloween 3 is my favorite in the series.
Halloween III was my favorite movie of all time. I could see it every week with a decorative jack'o'lantern with a candle in on my tv. Wishing it was almost time for Halloween. It's so sinister, creative, halloween is just everywhere and the stakes are so much higher than with the first two Halloween movies. The music adds so much more to it, and the villain and hero's and what might be seen as the mother of endings where the hero's loose, makes this for me THE Halloween classic. But what do you know it... many disagree and perfer to see a messy Michael Myers like we got instead like Halloween 5 or Resurrection. And I'm so glad it had the title of Halloween III and not just 'season of the witch', or else it would have become an unknown movie that didn't even reached my place here in Europe. And to me, this movie deserves the title of the holiday even more than the first two movies as this is a story about Halloween, while Halloween en Halloween II is an event happening on Halloween.
This movie had more suspense and chills then many of the later films. Cohen's wicked plan is not revealed until the last half of the movie. 1 man tries to prevent a crazy old coot from killing kids with his deadly Halloween masks! Great Movie....1 of my favorites! The Silver Shamrock commercial is just so catchy
I love this movie it's atmosphere is amazing and the soundtrack is legend. I watch it happily every year. The weirdness of the story is great to me. The town they filmed it in is truly a creepy little burg in Northern California and even it's name Loleta is creepy.
I didn’t see this movie for the first time until a couple years ago. When I was going through the Halloween series as a youth, I saw the Halloween three tape and I looked at it and I thought ‘well it doesn’t appear to have anything to do with Halloween, there’s no Michael Myers anywhere on the box but it’s called Halloween three so it has to connect somehow’. So I brought the box up to the counter and the clerk told me if I wanted to keep up with the Michael Myers storyline this movie had nothing to do with it and she didn’t know why they called it Halloween three. So I put it back and I went straight to Halloween four. But I like Tom Atkins in it. He does a great job, all the acting is really good actually. I like the part where the woman gets her face destroyed in the motel room. And I like the music a lot. I could do without organic matter being generated from the masks. I don’t find snakes and bugs scary or logical. But if It just shot out lasers or something that destroyed peoples faces and killed them, then that would’ve been cool. That’s why I like the motel scene so much where her face gets destroyed as there’s not much of the bugs. The focus is more on the damage from the beam. But I enjoy the movie and watched it again on Peacock recently.
Glad to hear you came around to this film. I was a little put off the first time I saw it as a kid (no Michael, of course), but it was brutal and. After a few more watches, it became a favorite of mine to watch. I love filmmakers who dare to do bleak endings and outcomes.
Honestly, I would have liked to have seen a Holloween Anthology. I know JC didn't want a second movie and would have rathered an Anthology from the beginning. But after the second movie....Michael became this entity all by himself, which made people want to keep going with his story. It was just like Freddy, Jason, and Chucky. Even though (or if) the sequels didn't stand up to the first movie or two, people were still going to the theater to watch. So like them, Michael was too big. I'm sure an Anthology would have or could have been amazing and it would have been nice if Carpenter brought in some of the other legends down the line to write a script of their own to add in. Of course, this was done years later for a whole different Anthology. But I'm afraid that just like how people didn't like H3 (at first) because it had nothing to do with Michael, it would have been the same for the other installments had it been turned into an Anthology.
I keep hearing mixed things from people. A lot of folks told me he didn't even wanna do an anthology and just wanted to end on 1. I know the part where he wanted to make 1 is true. So I've been told that the anthology was just him trying to make the best of a situation not that he really wanted to make them.
Thank you!! It wasn't a great film, but I've been watching it nearly every year since it came out. My best friends and I would don the masks every Halloween, and I still wear a skull mask.
I was looking at some Halloween 🎃 3 merchandise I think you can buy the masks☘️🎃💀along with tee shirts ☘️key rings 🎃cups💀posters👨🦰🥼even duvet bed coverings🎃
I'm from the 1978 Era. Halloween was the first slasher I saw on the big screen. I remember the hype for Halloween 2. I watched that in the theater, too. I don't recall seeing Halloween 3 in the theaters. But I do recall what people were saying at the time: "I wanted to see Michael. I went to see Michael. " Of course, Myers wasn't shown in the trailers, so...odd statement? Anyhow, from what I remember, people were just oddly disappointed by the absence of a character that was never advertised.
I'll always love the original Halloween, and I think that Halloween 2(and H20) are pretty decent as well. But Halloween 3 is an idea as an anthology series that I wish they had stuck with. It's such an underrated movie, and that Silver Shamrock jingle has stuck with me since the first time I watched it.
I saw this in theaters when I was 17. God I feel old. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it has become my night in watching my favorites during Halloween. I don't party and definitely don't trick or treat at 57. I watch Silver Bullet, Armies Of Darkness amongst others.
I didn’t like Halloween 3 when I was younger, but the older in get the more I love it since I’m able to separate it from the Myers stories. I also think the constant airplay on AMC has helped rebuild its status as a cult classic
Hell, Nigel Kneale gave us the horrifying Quatermass series so I dug the elements in Halloween III that were still his. This movie rocks... except I'll never hear "London Bridge is Falling Down" the same way again.
Ive always loved this film, i dont class it in my halloween ranking purely because MM is not in it, but its still an absolute gem of a movie and one of my favourites in the "halloween universe"
I literally remember when my little brother and I had first seen it there was obvious disappointment to not see Mike. But the actual premise of the movie worked for the time, well for us it did haha. Being born on Halloween 🎃 I've always been a massive fan of the entire franchise, biased heavily of course 😆
I remember renting this as a young kid and wondering what the hell I just sat through. I’ve since learned to appreciate it, but with limited promotion and no one telling me in advance what the idea behind it was, it was quite baffling at the time.
Unfortunately, and this is coming from someone who loved Halloween ends, but after the bad reviews from ends the studio’s wouldn’t dare go that route for any future movies because Mikey makes the big bucks and the lack of him in ends scared people off from that idea.
Yes like probably most folks out there because this one is not about Michael Myers. Some were probably hoping for Michael to turn hero on this one kikking the cyborgs and indirectly helping the protagonist. However, as an adult and once you get into government conspiracy theories kind of stories. This one is a must watch, with brilliant acting from the sinister villan. Kind of a reminds me of Westworld.
Halloween 3 is great. The Happy Halloween song is great. Tom Atkins was great. It's such a cool concept, really ahead of it's time. Magic masks triggered by a television broadcast? That was trailblazing. It was only reviled because it had the "Halloween" name. That's it. That's the only reason people hated it.
A fantastic movie. Dan O'Herlihy's monologue is one of the greatest in movie history, the venom he injects into the dialogue - "...begging for candy..." is paralytic.

I heard about The Shed on Hack the Movies. I look forward to watching it.
Love that line: "I do love a good joke and this is the best ever, a joke on the children." Sinister. Sums up the whole movie for me.
Tom Atkins is an underrated actor.
Not gonna lie. "Season of the Witch" freaked me out more than the Michael Myers films.
Halloween 3 Season of Witch still creeps me out to this day as an adult 😩😵!!!
I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid. I have it on VHS and DVD. I project the flashing pumpkin on the front of my house every Halloween with a digital projector. The kids love it. Ironic that they don’t realize what happens to the kids in the movie.
We got to see this at the Drive In at my old hometown and we knew it wasn't a sequel to the original and we just accepted that and loved it.
Season of the Witch is a favorite of mine and of my better half. It was inspired and you nailed it with "bleak." Just our thing.
When our kids were in their teens we'd do double features of HSotW and Prince of Darkness or the '78 Invasion of the Body Snatchers for them and their friends. All those tough teens totally creeped out by a bit of art, it was magnificent.
The end credits for this video slap so hard.
Thanks for the video. Excellent job as always. Funny thing about this movie that I have come to find is almost every person that says it sucks, has never actually seen it.
I've been a fan of this film since its original release and always accepted it as the anthology it was intended to be.
I watched it the first time on some Saturday afternoon matinee on some lower broadcasting network in KC in the later 80s. Loved it ever since. Thanks for the video
This is one of those movies that I will defend anytime, anyplace.
Yes!
Watched this movie with my little brother and told him that Cochran was Michael Myers. This is now his favorite Halloween movie 🤣
This movie is great. We all know why the reception was/is bad. This is a must watch every October
I’m sorry for your loss 😢. He was a true man of taste.
BRAVO!!! this has always been my favorite Halloween movie in the franchise
I love that (according to a documentary on the movie) Tom Adkins feels that he did get manage to save the kids.
Yay!!!!!!!!
Ahhh, my favorite Halloween film. Would have loved to have seen this when it came out.
This movie is in my yearly Halloween watch list.
I frickin love Halloween 3! To me it's like a scary James Bond
rewatched this recently and can say this movie is awesome! would've been cool if they continued this format.
I was never a fan of the movies featuring Micheal Myers, so this was always my favorite Halloween.
I love Joe Bob! I met him in 87. He's a nice guy.
I hated this movie as a kid but it has grown on me. Tom Atkins is a treasure.
Definitely my favorite of the series. A perfect double feature with Trick R Treat.
The story in Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, is far more terrifying than some guy with a knife that really just wants to kill his sister.
Story literally makes no sense
@@tysanders6497 it made perfect sense to me. You probably weren't paying attention.
Bro this is the worst movie in the world
@@dontrah1838 Bro, you're wrong, bro. Bro, it's a great movie, bro
I love this movie it's atmosphere is amazing and the soundtrack is legend. I watch it happily every year. The weirdness of the story is great to me. The town they filmed it in is truly a creepy little burg in Northern California and even it's name Loleta is creepy.
The last part of the movie is basically the same structure to the last part of Dr. No; except with a dark twist.
One of my favorite Halloween movies. This movie would be known as a classic if they dropped the Halloween 3 from the title
8 more days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, 8 more days till Halloween Silver Shamrock
i was never the biggest Halloween series fan but Season of the witch i had to have on DvD!
Awesome movie, great story and great performances.
The beginning intro sequence is so eerie
That creepy music and the flashing pumpkin...creepy as hell!
Thank you!!
It wasn't a great film, but I've been watching it nearly every year since it came out.
My best friends and I would don the masks every Halloween, and I still wear a skull mask.
This one gave me more nightmares as a child than any of the other Halloween movies.
I'm not even that big of horror movie fan but this is just really good movie. One the best endings to a movie ever as well.
Has any company actually released copies of the masks from the movie for actual Halloween costumes cuz that would be cool
But I do recall what people were saying at the time:
"I wanted to see Michael. I went to see Michael. "
Of course, Myers wasn't shown in the trailers, so...odd statement?
Anyhow, from what I remember, people were just oddly disappointed by the absence of a character that was never advertised.
Unique, original, and underrated.
Halloween 3 has always been one of my all-time favorite scary movies!
Went from not liking the first watch, to it being a tradition every yr. A good, creepy little film with some nice performances
i dont know if taste is a cultural thing but people in the U.S appreciate this movie more than where im from, i personally love it
This is my second favorite movie of all time, behind Night of the Creeps!
A second chance? This is the only Halloween film worth watching. It's a Halloween tradition in our house.
Love this movie, nice to see some one giving it the crtedit it deserves, great upload.
Thank you kindly!
I remember renting this as a young kid and wondering what the hell I just sat through. I’ve since learned to appreciate it, but with limited promotion and no one telling me in advance what the idea behind it was, it was quite baffling at the time.
Halloween Ends will someday have a similar retrospective I bet. I found it fascinating just like Halloween 3.
I was one of the few who loved this movie when it came out. I hope they go the anthology route with the Halloween franchise going forward.
