The ancient world. I feel I may have sounded a little harsh in this. Its a pretty good game, but I dunno, just lacking that X factor. I have no plans to sell it though, and its really solid, its certainly better than average. So, am I wrong. Is this actually a gem of a game I need to play a lot more?
Are you totally sure it's "if your worker is the same number pay a coin", not "your worker must be a higher number than existing workers or you must pay a coin"? Because that's the way I was taught and it's a ridiculously tight mean game because of that mechanic. I've since sold it on so I can't check for myself
Full rule below. I only used a single example for time reasons. The player may buy one of the Empire cards in the Empire card row, or an Empire card the player has stored. Special Rule: A player may place Citizen tokens on this action even if his Citizen token has a lower skill number than Citizen tokens already on the board. However, if the player places a Citizen token with a skill number that does not match any previously placed Citizen tokens (belonging to any player), he must pay one coin. If there are no previously placed Citizen tokens, the player is not required to pay one coin.
But that's only one action space the majority of the other spaces you have to out rank existing workers. For instance the first player can plonk a level 3 worker on the knowledge space and basically block everyone for the round
Right. "Players may send Citizen tokens to actions spaces on the board. A player may only place a Citizen token on an Action that has no other Citizen tokens on it, or if his Citizen token's skill number is higher than the skill number of any Citizen tokens on the action." yeah, totally forgot to mention that. Absolutely correct. We did play it that way, just time code meant i blasted past it without mentioning it. Probably should have.
Added a card, but since they stopped allowing people to make annotations, the only way to make it better would be to rip the whole vid down..... faffing you tube, making stuff harder than it needs to be
Sorry man, didn't mean to make life hard. I'm really impressed you've been pumping these out 2 a week and they've all been top notch. I can't believe you explained Mage Knight very well in under 4mins! I'm gonna have to go over and find out how Patreon (or what ever its called ) works to support this.
Great series!
I really appreciate how you tell us whether or not it has solo mode.
I'm a solo gamer. Its something I always like to know about a game.
Excellent review as always!!!

I feel like the 2nd Edition on Kickstarter means Ryan agrees with you, too.
Champions of Midgard is another light worker placement game where you're fighting ancient monsters. How do they compare, if you've played both?
I have not played that one. I will add it to the list of games to check out though
You grabbed my attention with Above and Below. Do you have plans to do a video on that game as well?
Yeah, not sure when, probably early in the new year.
Looking forward to it! You guys are doing awesome work. The production value is great and the length is perfect. Keep it up!
