Beautiful painting as always! Miss seeing peeks of Leo; watercolor and cats go together! (And don't ever stop making these videos - they are very much appreciated.❤🎨)
Wonderful way to use these paints. I am just about to fill my cart with some of these and some Daniel smith primatek. Have been going round and round wondering which colours to choose. I know three of them now 😂😂. Thank you for this! I have been in LOVE with granulation from day one! I want to incorporate more of them in my animal paintings. The lioness is absolutely fabulous! You are a true master. Light, dark, shadow, very few brush strokes… ❤ I still have lots to learn.
This is an amazing lesson - esp for a beginner. I've been wondering what granulating means for a couple of years now. Now I can appreciate it in your paintings. Trying it out myself will be another story - but at least I understand now! Thank you.
I just love what you did with this Tundra set, very impressive! I have the Galaxy and Forest sets, so I KNEW you would be working, naturally, with the Tundra set, LOL!!! When I first tried both of my sets, I admit to being underwhelmed (I love Daniel Smith's granulating sets usually), but then I found out, as you stated, the paper really must be quite wet to get that granulation to come alive. All in all, these are beautiful paints, aren't they? But again, I have never gotten mine to look quite as nice as yours; that is to say, I am not at the level of a DeMasi composition, and doubt I ever will be, but that is quite all right with me! Still so proud of all I've learned from the Master! Just LOVE this beautiful lion, and I may try this even if it never is a Patreon tutorial, this YT tutorial being quite helpful as it is! Thanks again for being so generous!
I'm gonna pick up a set of the super granu,ating- just love how they separate and create two colors on wet paper. Gonna have to think through paintings now a bit more Indepth to plan where the colors will separate and come up against a different co,or which also separates into two colors for beautiful effects.
Louise, another stunning, gorgeous painting! I love the pose, and I really love how the granulating paints looked and worked so well to bring out the rock and the lion’s fur! It’s truly so amazing and beautiful. You are such a master with a brush and paints! How you see this in your head and feel it in your heart is obvious when I look at your finished pieces. Your art always, always transport me! You are an amazing artist! These granulating colors are wonderful! They were perfect for this painting. I think the effects are awesome! Another masterpiece from a masterful artist! Congratulations, Louise! You and Dom are so cute. I so enjoy you two working together. God bless you both and your entire family.👏🏻♥️🌹
Louise, thank you for your inspirational tutorials. Your painting is so beautiful and skilled. And, thank you for NOT directing people to Amazon to buy materials. With appreciation, Marilyn
I used to shy away from granulating colors and preferred flat smooth washes but over time I’ve come to really appreciate and love the wonderful organic shapes and mixes you can achieve with granulating colors. An amazing painting as usual!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
All of your work is beautiful, but i found this one particularly stunning. I'm always amazed at how you manage to create such beautiful works, you make it look easy ❤ Thank you for sharing all of your watercolor wisdom
Beautiful!! I love the Daniel Smith granulating paints and have quit a few! This set is really lovely! This is the danger of watching your fabulous tutorials … now I have to buy this lovely set!! (LOL)
I do use granulating paints and I love the effect they produce. Thanks so much for this video. The lioness looks so peaceful and the Tundra colours are beautiful.
Louise, you always crack me up! I always get a chuckle at the end and it sure lifts me up! And yes, I will be embracing granulating paints! Does that mean this will be a Patreon tutorial? I sure hope so! I was going to purchase these paints if you are. I just love your giraffe er I mean lioness. 😊😘 She's such a lovely creature and the color choices really add to her beauty! You are such an amazing artist and even though I haven’t painted anything yet, I feel so privileged to be under your tutelage. I look forward each time you have a new video out! And I hope to do one of your Patreon tutorials soon! Thanks so much! 💕
I haven’t used any of the super granulating sets, but instead have the single pigment colours used in these paints so I mix my own! Much less expensive to have the couple of single pigments than the range of multi-pigment paints haha. I adore them and use them for wildlife as well!
Granulating paints are some of favorites! I make my own most of the time since it's so easy to copy the Schmincke versions and whatnot. I use Daniel Smith for a lot of other special paints because their paints granulate so well! Please tell me this will be a full tutorial on your Patreon! 🙏 Pretty please? 😂🖤
What a gorgeous painting! I have some granulating paints and don't quite know how to use them. Thank you so much for the lesson (and the "bloopers" are just hilarious). ❤
Your Lioness is stunning Louise! I love granulating paints, and these ones are some of my fave colours, which work so well with rocks and beaches . Thank you for another lovely video! 💕
What a beautiful lioness Louise! I recently bought a few of this tubes but first I’m moving to an other house and after everything is settled I give it a go!
I now want to embrace granulating paints - I always use my eradicating paint brush (thanks to you0 for highlights - I’m excited to introduce these paints to my work. Thank you 🙏
What a beautiful painting, Louise 😊💕. I love big cats so of course you know what I am going to say next …is this going to be a tutorial? 😬😬🙏🏻😂. I think I say that about every painting you show us LOL!
I have loved granulating colours since i first started in watercolours & these new Schminke colours are beautiful. Louise did you say there was a full tutorial on Patreon? I would love to do this lioness.
Thanks Louise, I have the same set of paints you demonstrated and absolutely love them. I’m getting a bit obsessed with granulating colours in general. Loved the edits at the end of the video … very funny 😂
This particular painting is so lovely. Such a simple subject and backgrounds, but your selection and application of paints makes it masterful. Thank you for sharing it in this way. Also, I always watch you videos to the end because I so enjoy the bloopers. I'm sure it's extra work to put them together, but please know that it's appreciated
Fabulous painting! Those paints were perfect for the lioness. I bought 2 Rosemary & Co eradicator brushes. Haven't been painting, but I look forward to using them! I haven't used granulating paints. Still a beginner, trying to soak all the knowledge in that I can. Thank you so much for your lovely inspiration and insight!
I have sodalite genuine as an add on for stone. It is from Daniel Smith. Even though it is blue ish one can easily change the color. It’s great for grey stone, rocks with moss etc. since I can lighten or darken it also just one works for many uses. It is on my studio Quiller palette
Thank you for another great video! I so appreciate all the hard work you, Dom and your son put into making these videos so special! I love granulating paints and have mostly used them for foliage and rocks, etc. I started playing with them for fur so it’s fun to see a master artist 😊 use them so beautifully! Texture is such an important element in design, so it makes sense that we should embrace it in watercolor also.
Great painting! I’m trying to embrace granulating colors, but every time I feel like I want smooth them 😁. Love your bloopers at the end, shows that painting and filming isn’t as easy as it may seem on UA-cam sometimes 😂
Thank you for this video. I have bought some granulating paints from Daniel Smith. They are called "genuine" and have no pigment number. How can I find pigment info on then? 🤔
I love this set of paints! The lioness is gorgeous using the paints.
Beautiful! Great instructions, as always 🥰
I’m so glad you found it helpful! 😊
Best explanation I’ve seen - thank you SO much! This really helps! And the added bonus - beautiful lioness🦁
Bought some granulating paint yesterday, first time (I'm a beginner) and I had some questions…which you just answered! Thank you for teaching us.
I really wish you’d do a tutorial of this! This is beyond amazing!
Beautiful painting as always! Miss seeing peeks of Leo; watercolor and cats go together! (And don't ever stop making these videos - they are very much appreciated.❤🎨)
Thank you! I'll try pop him in soon. He's a bit naughty in the studio. 😂💕

I think this is my most favorite of your paintings.

Yes I too am going to get the reference or one like it and give it a go! I already love granulation when painting wildlife!
That lion painting is beautiful. Love the duller hues of the set.
I'm gonna pick up a set of the super granu,ating- just love how they separate and create two colors on wet paper. I would love to see a tutorial💕💞. Thank you for sharing information on granulation 🌈

What a special message. Thank you so much Susan! 🥰
You are my favorite watercolor instructor in UA-cam
Louise also has her Patreon program with over 170 real life painting tutorials that you may thoroughly enjoy. The cost is very reasonable.

I love your painting, I love your bloopers!
You have saved me hours of bumbling about. Thank you.

Thank you! That's smart! 🥰
Smart!
This is beautiful. You really have a great touch. Thanks for sharing.
I have this set and I love it. Granulating paints are fun. Though best not to fuss with the paint and not to layer to much.
Great tip! Thank you Monique.
Yes, I've used them and LOVE how they move!

Excellent demo for granulating paints! I love them, and I experiment with them constantly. I use Daniel Smith.
Beautiful effect. A great demonstration - thanks Louise.
What a beautiful use for these granulating paints! Do you ever try to mix your own pigments for granulation?
You’re welcome 😊. Thanks so much!
Thank you Mary. No I don't mix my own but that could definitely be done!

Quite lovely! I love the separation of colors in a single paint, like a duochromatic property. So interesting!!
The colour separation creates lots of lovely surprises. Thank you Linden.
Gorgeous!
I like using them for backgrounds in my floral paintings. It is beautiful how you used them to create fur.
Thank you Erica. That sounds like a great idea. 💕
Great video!!! Thank you!!
I have loved granulating colours since i first started in watercolours & these new Schminke colours are beautiful. Louise did you say there was a full tutorial on Patreon? I would love to do this lioness.

@@LouiseDeMasi may I ask if you draw as well. If so can you help with that too?
Beautiful!!!
lovely lioness😀 i really want to try some granulating paints, just out of the budget for the moment 😕
Beautiful!
I’ve been saving to get exactly the set that you have now. They are beautiful but very pricey! Love the effects and the separation……❤
Exactly $$$$🤥
Thank you! 💕
Lovely video Louise. I have 2 pan Schminka tundra colours , salt works so well with them.

Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy using the eradicator brushes. I use them often.

Very interesting, I bought granulated colors but didn't know how to maximize their use
Thank you! Have fun with them.
Stunning!! Can this effect be accomplised by mixing two colors on the palette? In case we cannot afford these watercolor paints....
Love the effects! I recently got the dot card for all the Schminke "super granulating" colors - looking forward to testing them out!
Thanks Kim. They're lovely to use.
Thank you for another great video! I so appreciate all the hard work you, Dom and your son put into making these videos so special! Our pleasure! Thank you very much Diane.
Interesting! I have purchased 4 of the Schmincke sets but have yet to use them😢
I hope you get time to use them soon. They are beautiful! Thanks Wendy.
Nice.😊😊😊😊
Great painting! I’m trying to embrace granulating colors, but every time I feel like I want smooth them 😁. Love your bloopers at the end, shows that painting and filming isn’t as easy as it may seem on UA-cam sometimes 😂
Thank you Viktoria. It's always a struggle filming. 🥰
Love your work. I wonder if you could get the same result without using those special paints?
Thank you! You could try adding texture with salt or even some deliberate blooms.
Wish this could be a tutorial for the lioness on your patreon
Thank you for this video. I have bought some granulating paints from Daniel Smith. They are called "genuine" and have no pigment number. How can I find pigment info on then? 🤔
Does this help? danielsmith.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/DS-Watercolor-pigment-characteristics.pdf
