Thanks for the interesting video. In Russia we were in school before lessons taught labor which do such things, and to use the tool, now unfortunately it does not remain. His children have to teach themselves or on such movies. Continue in the same spirit, Matthias.

This man and his hammer :D I just can't help it but like it when he brings out his hammer, when he tries to be precise everywhere. But a bit disappointed - I thought that we finally saw one of his mistakes, when he put countersinks on wrong side. Turned out I was wrong :D

Some say, “When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.”
After this video we say, “When you are Matthias Wandel, you have all the tools, including unique tools you invented, plus imagination, tech-savvy and advanced problem-solving ability, and well... that’s what Matthias uses if he feels like it!” ;-)
This was completely fun! The most over-engineered paper-towel holder in history!
    Guinness Record perhaps?

It might be too heavy, but perhaps you could try mounting that belt sander vertically, and make a strong table to support your work while sanding, just an idea for a future project =)

Have you seen or thought up a friction inducer? This type of holder makes it very difficult to tear off one towel, using only one hand, without making the roll spin like crazy and unwind itself.

I've discovered that a project that starts out as a "simple idea" ends up including some not so simple operations. You have to admit that it's pretty cool that over 5,000 people watched you make a paper towel holder. Take care.

If instead of a round dowel you use a square dowel it will keep the paper from unwinding excessively. the square edges catch on the cardboard tube, slowing it down. its just a bit more of a pain making a square hole for the dowel to fit in. although for a standing paper towel holder the square dowel could be rounded at the point where it inserts into the base.

Don't you have any long term projects on your list? I can think of about 5-10 sizeable projects that I need to do but I don't have the confidence that you have. Some suggestions are: changing out a front double door; building a pergola; rounded over yard gate with matching rounded over frame; hand cranked garden hose roll-up on wheels; comfortable and adjustable lounge chair with wheels for the pool patio.
Hope you take on one of these.
    Best regards

    Hi Matthias,
Honestly, don't you thing the pantorouter makes almost as much as dust as your lathe ? The lathe should have done the tenon and the knob in one single operation.
I you believe in dust collection, what about a dust collection hood for the lalhe ?
Many thanks for all the time you spend into showing your works. ;)

I'm working as a carpenter and my first thought when I got to work on the machines was; "The belt sander is such a nice tool, its gonna be my best friend"
    Oh was I wrong.
One time I slipped (the belt was pretty used already, no new belt) and I sanded away my left index fingernail nearly completely and a big patch of skin on my right index finger joint.
This happened all before the reflex of my body could pull away my hands, so: Very very quickly.
Our belt sander is quite big and powerful and if you hold a piece of wood incorrectly like Matthias did here exactly the same happenes. The sandpaper has so much resistance, it "grabs" the piece and throws it away. And believe me, Quite heavy, big pieces fly really, really good.
Immideatly when I saw how Matthias was holding the workpiece (admittedly I grinned a little bit) I had a suspicion of what might happen.
Glad nothing happened though, again, the belt sander is more dangerous then you might think.
You should not be scared of tools, only have respect for them, but I AM a tiny bit scared of our big belt sander. I really don't like using it.
