I am sorry but this is not a serious demo work: 1. the 2 amps are not directed at same angle to the mic 2. recording a big speaker thru a tiny camera mic membrane isn't gonna show the real sound 3. if the head and combo shares the same circut excatly and only speakers are different than it will be much easier to just demo a/b the speakers
@suprjnt420 The speakers are the same, the VHT special design 12". I would attribute the biggest difference to the closed cab vs. open combo and the fact that the closed cab is pointing directly at the mic on the camera and the combo speaker is off axis to the right of the mic.
i pushed play and dosed off and your voice shocked me so bad my elbow slipped off my desk and my face slammed into my keyboard....lol!!!!!! i wish i had that on video
@Nick98Nick98 I'm currently out of stock on the combo, however, when I look at the head/combo of the Special 6, not the Ultra, the speaker outs are the same. There is no difference in watts output and speaker ohm selection as far as output power is concerned.
Hi there, I have a small problem, so maybe you could help. The clean channel plays perfectly and breaks up nicely, not much headroom. No intermittent noises or any problems what so ever. The ultra channel however is completely intermittent. It responds slightly better to a very hard pick attack but normally cuts to a very clean, much quieter noise. Then out of nowhere i will get a much much louder heavily distorted noise (the intended tone). Do you know whats wrong? Thanks for any advices!
the combo sounds better to me. Sounds like a 6l6 missing the el84 warmth :) Be interested to hear the combo. That gold top is an interesting guitar. Is that a lower end esp ? What model is the gold top and how much ?
@HereMikeWas just telling you. :-) I like to keep videos as brief as possible and there was a lot of logistics in this one. When we do the reshoot I'll have 'assistants' to speed stuff up and I'll use a Snap Jacks cable to speed it up and use the same guitar the whole time too.
Well, he's definitely succeeded brilliantly at making either choice sound truly horrible. I find it very unlikely that this head or combo sounds anything even remotely as dreadful as this. Videos like this aren't doing VHT any favors.
How can you even compare your amp to these? The recording is crap and most people listen through their shite computer speakers. You usually have to take it home to get a true test.
MG sound record from total overcliped camera mic .. dumbiest overview ever .. Take some fckin dynamic microfone and take it on to same distance from amps..
I definitely like the combo more.
took my first lesson today! Loved it!
Great video
the head and cab are pointed towards the camera/mic and the combo is off axis, of course they sound different.
Good, concise review. Thank you.

We do need to get a better audio source device. I'm checking into that Zoom Q3.

Yeah mine has had the same problem for years. It may be 10 years later but did you ever solve the problem?

@ajpeagle I agree. I really want to like this amp as a lot of people love it but the OD lacks warmth and bottom end.
Combo sounds much warmer to my ears. I have a Peavey Classic 30 that would maul them all tho! :)
awesome video. Would you say the head/cab is worth $140 more then the combo?

Too my ears the Head/ cab sounds a bit different from the combo....my guess is the speakers. would you say that's a correct assessment?
Gotta be real... I came for the moobs!
@GorillaGuitars your video was great. I was only joking.
2:08 Did someone tell him to go faster or was he just telling us?
@swagedelic That's the plan for a future video. We have better audio too.
Since the channels can not be changed with the footswitch - is it possible to use an A/B Switch to go into both channel?
At 1:48 you could have just reached over and flipped the switch.
i need that head
OUT OF TUNE
Identical guitar? You should know better. There's a speaker size and cabinet difference that you failed to mention.

"There's so much more we can do with the features...."
You'd need a better demo guy though...
MG sound record from total overcliped camera mic .. dumbiest overview ever .. Take some fckin dynamic microfone and take it on to same distance from amps..
The OD is terrible
wow , that is rather harsh, buzzy and smallish sounding.....get what you pay for?
Tune guitar, tune guitar, tune guitar.
Sounds pretty terrible.
