- There was no history making promotion for Chatham Town to the National League South as they lose to Enfield Town 3-0 in the Isthmian Premier League play off final.

It is from the famous Chatham Dockyard, it used to be a big naval town back in the day ⚓️⛵️
Unlucky Chats but there is always next season Matt.Dont even think about being biased mate. You and me are from the area, even though we have both left the area. I went to school in Chatham. Highfield was at the top of the hill going up from Chatham station. Got my O levels there and started my apprenticeship in Rochester. Talking about your weather. Well i am up on the Baltic Coast at a place called Zingst, and its been sunny and warm for the past 2 weeks. I will try and send you some lol. Enjoy your summer Matt, and lets look forward to an improvement at the Gills next season. No doubt you will be bringing a few more vids out before the end of the season though, and be marking off your list again in august. Shame that the Chats didnt make it, but they have come along way in these past few seasons. All the best Dave

As for southern based teams going into the North, Oxford City, Borehamwood perhaps if they're up there.
Good that Worthing lost as they're our closest journey as an eastbourne fan at an hour.
Problem is with us, is that everyone is miles away. Every journey apart from Worthing is an 1 hour and a half plus.
So it would've been nice to see Hastings or Lewes go up, based on rivalry and a geographical aspect. Besides they were telling us lot we're going down and they're going up.
What a game at Worthing aswell, cracking goals.
We did the double over Braintree and got pummeled by Worthing twice, footballs a funny game. Great vlog as usual, and perhaps you could do predictions to non league divisions when of course most signings have been made.
I don't live in Eastbourne but I go to every game

The issue of southern-based teams playing in the National League North will continue as long as we have a non-league pyramid where three of the four feeder leagues to step 2 are composed mainly of clubs located south of Birmingham. In an ideal world this wouldn't be a problem - you join the National League, the clue's in the name - but as things stand it places sides from a certain part of the country at a real disadvantage because of the travelling costs they incur. As supporters of Bishops Stortford this season - and perhaps Needham Market and Chesham United next season - will confirm.
Thanks Richard, the problem is that we need to draw a line somewhere to divide north and south and the higher up the pyramid you go the more travelling you have to expect to do

Silly question probably, but why was the play off final played at Chatham's ground?
until you get to the national league the final of the playoffs are just played at the team who finished higher in the leagues ground
Chatham had the home tie because they finished higher in the league, Chatham (2nd) were home in the semi Final against Horsham who had finished 5th, Enfield Town (3rd) had been at Home to Wingate & Finchley (4th) in their SF.

Haven’t caught any of your Gillingham videos yet though, cos your non league ones always pop up in my recommended videos, I have been subscribed for a little while now though, so will eventually get round to some, but they are your club you support, so I would expect you to be biased in them

@@mattthegroundhopper9242 I squeezed right passed that old main stand to find a decent view in front of the two step metal terrace. The Bauvill Stadium could not handle 3,000 well at least Bauvill is an easy redevelopment with plenty of space.
@@MattGFC1977there is talk of redeveloping that stand hopefully within the next couple of seasons 👍🏻⚽️
Can't believe we threw it away on literally the last match of the season. Still though, proud of them for what they achieved. Next season though! Thankfully no Hornchurch to deal with.

The teams coming down don't strike me as that good, especially Dover who have nose dived into oblivion.

The only silver lining for Chatham Town is that they now get to play Dartford and Dover in some Kent Derbies 👍🏻⚽️
Gutted for them, my aunt & uncle live in Gillingham, so have always watched out for them & Chatham & always want them to both to do well, personally I don’t find you too biased, you do seem to be neutral when I watch your vids

I’m neutral until i watch Gillingham or Chatham Town then I am unashamedly biased 👍🏻
No point going up when they are not ready otherwise it will smash their confidence back down.
The trouble is they pick managers on their previous history like playing football etc but when all is said and done it still boils down to motivating players and drawing their instimct to bond and find a way even it appears to be none.
The best chance to move leagues is too be like an albatross and once they take flight they glide and stay up for a long time.
Gills and chats fell apart when they lost their morale due to the management. .
