    You can use your focus light on your flash diffuser to light for macro video also.

    If you want to free up your hand, I'd recommend a magic arm with a rod mount. Screw mounts come loose too easily.

      I've been looking into one of those for photography to hold subjects in a clamp, so I'll keep it in mind for video as well.

    Great video! It's quite tough using manual and video with these lenses. Getting good light to crank the f helps a lot! though it's tough with some animals. It's practice practice practice!

    Love your channel. Your images are outstanding.
    Question - when shooting at 60 fps, what shutter speed were you using? I know typically filmmakers would shoot 60fps at 1/120, but I’m curious if you need an even faster ss because of the light?
    Also, what aperture were you at? Do you change it much to compensate for lighting or to adjust your depth of field?
    Thanks for the wonderful videos!

    • @naturefold
      @naturefold  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you! I shot at 1/120 the whole time and mostly had my aperture at f/8. To compensate for lighting I used the brightness on the LED panel, and for a few shots where that wasn't bright enough I had to raise my iso a bit.

    can you try to shoot, render, and upload a 60fps video? Might have to shoot 120fps because the 1/2 speed looks nice

    Enjoyable vid. Getting close to 10k subs, nice. Side by side split screen effective. What were the ants doing earlier in the vid - those white bundles?

    Great video as always. I'm just wondering would a diffused head torch work? It would free up your hand. 🙂

    • @naturefold
      @naturefold  4 місяці тому +1

      I've never tried that, I imagine it might not quite be enough light since a headlamp spreads out the light quite wide so only a small amount would hit a diffusion panel close to the subject, but in a pinch I'm sure it could work.

    Heya! Have you thought about those ringlights that go around your lens at the tip of it? Any experience with those?

    • @naturefold
      @naturefold  4 місяці тому

      Those are good if you just need very even lighting for documentation images, but they give very flat lighting and distracting reflections, so I would never use one for my macro work.

    I've never used a diffuser for doing macro . I felt it was a waste of money . I have the 100mm x2 F2.8 Laowa model .. I used with my 90D until i bought a 5DSR ..overall am happy with the images i get . I haven't been to my usual hauunt this year as i now spend most of my time my time on the coast as it offers a wide spectrum of targets ..
