Good lord. Ive had my jeep for almost a year and ive only added a cup holder lol.
Slacker!!!! 😜
😂😂😂😂
I’m glad you like it… that’s all that matters…
I would definitely paint match all the silver!
Definitely. All the silver everywhere ruined it for me. But so did the 40s so what do I know
Imo it would look better being all paint matched. I feel like the silver makes it look unfinished. It makes sense if you’re trying to draw attention to the parts (like if it were a Motobilt catalog vehicle).
Been a sub for a long time, didnt know you would build so extreme? At first i was a skeptic, but now im sold - this channel rocks!
Definitely nervous to do so much to it, but I’m very happy!
I think it would look great paint matched. 🔷️
Great Job guys, looks awesome. Making it a stand out from the rest and doing different mods from the norm is right up my alley.. great work!
Def. paint match it except for the logo underneath the lic. plate
That would be neat
Thanks for sharing the new goodies❓️
Can't wait to see what else you do to your rig....
Some folks are pretty upset with whats happening to the 392. I personally don't care for the new tailgate, but we have to remember that this is MATT'S Jeep. And thats the point of Jeeps. Make it your own. I can't stand all the ducks in the windshield that folks do, but maybe they think I'm a jerk for NOT doing it.
You guys have a good mix of ridiculous mods, and down to Earth mods. I can't wait until yall have enough money to have a project for every model, so that we can all have something. And the only way to get there is to keep supporting. I just got a 99TJ, and hopefully some day I'll be watching DRC vidoes helping me mod mine. Keep it up guys. 🇺🇲
That is cool- love the tailgate! The new taillights will look great too 😊. Thanks for another great video you guys!
Thanks 👍
I think that you should color match the tailgate to the jeep, it's to large to keep it silver, then accent the license plate holder in silver and the little plate for the motobuilt logo in silver as well
Wow I love that look!! They did such an amazing job. Well done guys !!
Love the fold down tailgate, had something similar on my old TJ. So handy, especially at angles where the stock gate either would fly open or you had to fight gravity to hold open... LOL
Also love the silver gate with the bikini accents, looks great
This will work great with my bike rack also, used to have to remove the whole rack just to open the tailgate!
Really cool to see some variety for the tailgate, I commend Motobilt for bringing new ideas to the table! Also, I have been rocking their rear crusher bumper for a year now and it's been stellar. Personally, I would paint match all of the silver Motobilt components and let the silhouette speak for itself. Keep the Jeep the way you like it, looking forward to the final showcase!
Right on! Thanks for the kind words!
love the latches on the new tailgate.
would be a nice touch if they could have added a Soft Opening Hydraulic system in the hinges and eliminate the two cables.
Aloha Matt. This was a laborious and precise mod installation that came out awesome. The only thing that it needs is the matching paint.
First off let me say this !
It’s your jeep and you can do whatever you want to it.
But: I purchased my 2021 392 for its being a 392 jL and added skid plates , winch and some small mods but maybe you should just got a gladiator for you can trick it out and it’s already a truck.
Resources comes from working and I can’t imagine if you actually paid the price we pay that all this would have been done.
Semper fi
Thanks for the comment, I wanted to go wild with this one, I’ve built a ton of jeeps in the past
Looks great, interested to see if you guys do a long-term review of the tailgate. That tailgate will take some abuse while jumping in the back and getting gear in/out with how tall the jeep is sitting.
Motobilt has been killing it! Can’t wait for my high clearance inners to come in
They have!!
Great job as always guys.
I initially thought you were going to paint-match your Motobilt fenders, but since you applied the drop-down tailgate with the paint-matched license plate trim, etc. I say leave it like you have it. It looks both very unique & really good. In the words of Lloyd Christmas,
"I like it! I like it a lot!"
Definitely back and forth on what to paint match, thanks for watching!
Very cool. Now you need a personal license plate like Drt cred
That would be sick!
Turned out great!
Thanks!
😐
For someone who didn't like that the final edition was not the final edition, for sure are cutting a lot in to the body of the final edition.
😅😂
lol this 392 is not a final edition
I think it would definitely look better paint matched and the parts you painted should be 392 bronze in my opinion
For looks only. From a functionality standpoint, you lose your reach-in length, especially for those lifted Jeeps. With the original swing-style door, you can get right up against the bumper/frame to reach in. With this, it becomes so much more difficult, and without any place to place your foot to lift you up, you will be putting all your weight on those door cables. Don’t see this being something people will use for a long time.
I hate to say it, but I think you're right. Dual action would be an upgrade. If I were you, I'd hold on to the stock tail gate... You might need it in 6 months.
Well I like it so 🤷♂️
@@boostedblue4744 you can use this fold down tailgate as a work bench, or counter for making lunch. You can't do that with the stock gate. Climb into the Jeep if you need to grab something, just don't be old and frail and you'll be fine... LOL
lol, you only like it because your got sponsored by them and got it for free. Lol
that color combo is really nice--i likey!
Thank you! Cheers!
That's a clean look 👌
I think so too!
It came out looking really good 👍🏾👏🏾
Thank you!
Jeeps looking amazing.
We agree!
Very nice. Gasket for license plate/water intrusion?
You should definitely look into the diabolical inc secure storage system adds a lot of functionality, especially with your new tailgate.
Looking good 👍 paint matching would make it better
Definitely paint match it as well as the fender flares. If you’ve paint matched your oil cap in the engine, you need to have the entire exterior matched.
lol I get your point, just have to make time to let my jeep sit while I ship the parts down to distinction
I’d love this but I like having a spare. Maybe I’d wanna find a way to mount the spare standing up in the trunk space but neat nonetheless.
Looks great
Thanks!
Nice, the only thing I would change is the licence plate light, I think I would use the light bolts, thanks for the video
Good call!
Cool mod for sure
Thank you!
I like watching your videos and I don't have any negative to say. I added some of the mods you have added and some others to make my 2024 Rubicon mine. I would say paint match the tail gate, "my opinion". Hope you have it done in time for Pigeon Forge and like to meet you and see your 392 there.
Thanks for that, lots of folks seem to hate on these newer ones, not sure why but it’s getting out of hand, hope I’ll have it done for pigeon forge!
Tail gate looks cool. Love what you’re doing to the Jeep.
Was wondering how the tailgate fits with a soft top window.
Seems to work well, we’ll have to see
Looking good 👍 .... See ya'll in Pigeon Forge
I have jeep 392 2021 To set some 40 on my jeep what are you recommend me to change
I want this tailgate. I already have both Motobilt bumpers… removing the 40 from the rear is the move. I only have a 37 but will go 40 when I change to one tons… I mentioned the 40 in the rear
It’s awesome!
I would definitely paint match it.
Where and when can I get your license plate relocation wire? Thanks in advance
It’s not my style but I love the amount of controversy this build is making. Keep it up.
lol this build seems to really be controversial, more comments are positive than negative
@dirtroadcred is your 8 speed buttery smooth? Or and shifting feel different between 3-4?
Smooth for me, only thing I get is 7-8 sometimes is a bit harsh
So what are the plans on a spare? I deleted my spare tire on my old YJ, and left the spare in the back. But on my JK, I think I need a spare.
Looking into a few things nowb
I was wondering this too. You "have" to have the spare, but it's heavy and your goal is to get rid of the weight. So what's the plan? Possibly a 40" bicycle tire/donut for emergency? 😂
@@321jono Well I guess I'm stuck with buying a bumper with tire carrier.
What’s the plan for the spare?
Excessive industries holds a 40 inside the back.
Working on that now
Very nice. You guys are "hack men". Had a laff @ the warranty q. Great vid.
Thanks for watching!
Anyone got any recomendations on light bars or spotlights
Hey I have been a subscriber for a little while and I love your content I lean a little more toward Ryan’s sport build because I too have have a sport but I’m wondering when your plug and play adapter for tag light relocation is coming as I bought a kit from RC for deleting my spare but there were no instructions for how to wire in the tag lights that harness would be a life saver for me
Thanks for watching! Should be out In the next week or so!
@@DIRTROADCRED thanks a million you rock keep up the awesome content!!!
What should we do today? I have a $100,000 Jeep. Let’s see how much of the warranty we can void. Seat fabric still covered. That’s it
Probably voided that too
Definitely not for me, but awesome work guys and love the video!!
Wow !! Pretty cool . Neat idea as well . 😃
Thanks!
do you know the manufacturer of Cletus's flat fenders?
I think it would look good paint matched
Same!
Is the license plate light upside down? Idk but it looks great!
That’s how they have it being installed, I’m sure if it was at the top it would block a little of them camera
Will we see this in wildwood jeep invasion this year?
I would clear coat any 3d printed stuff to protect from uv. I hate company markings that are permanent
CJ look timeless
Yes!
So version 2.0 will have built in cup holders on that panel??
You never know!
Wow! I love this. But, i would be concerned with rattling. Youll have to let us know if this tailgate is worth it over time.
Drove it a few days and no rattling so far
What's the brand of the lower corner armour? I installed a Fishbone rear bumper delete and I wanted to protect the body.
MotoBilt as well!
Thanks@@DIRTROADCRED Now i need to see if they ship to canada...
@@NorthRedWaveThey do ship worldwide
That looks great....when can we get one?
Should be available now!
Not sure how hard it would be to modify it, but it would be really cool if it would swing both ways kinda like the RAM. That way you can drop it down like a tailgate when you are out at the campsite and swing it normally when loading it up. I mean, I get how some people are saying it would be harder to load it up but in all reality it’s no different than having a lifted truck.
That would be slick!
Nice Build👍👍🤘😁 Paint Match All , just not the black plastics. Not much cutting thus can Always put the stock tailgate back , the rubber Seal will cover the Cut-outs no probs there if u ever want to. Nice job 🎉💃😁
Finally someone acknowledging the fact I can swap it back if I want lol, thanks for the kind words!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching!
tail gate would be only good for hauling long things. imagine trying to reach for things even farther because the tailgate is in your gut. Cool idea though
Looks fantastic! What’s the weight capacity of that tailgate?
Says 300 pounds!
@@DIRTROADCREDWe’ve had two grown men sit on it with no issue
Running 40s and tons… complains about weight 😂
She’s too heavy lol
I didn't like the drop down tailgate on my 86 CJ-7. I love the swing out on my 08 JK lifted 3.5 inches 37" MT's. The spare doesn't weigh 200 pounds either but doesn't matter to me. I can reach in all the way to back seat with the swing out. The drop down tailgate is just
another- Just -Empty -Every- Pocket- (J-E-E-P) assesories. Not needed or useful to me.
But wouldn’t running a spare counter the front weight and make the ride better instead of it being stiffer.
I think it was a missed opportunity to have the rear camera mount and license plate light integrated together for a cleaner look.
I’d imagine it has to do with the angle of the camera and the vision
I fail to see what advantage is gained by having a bottom hinged tailgate. In fact it seems to cause only problems. SMH
Saves weight, works easier with my bike racks, gives me a flat platform to work on, and I like it.
To each his own…I’m so happy you love it. The best Jeep is the Jeep you have the way you like to have it. But, whew, for me, this is the worst mod I have ever seen you do. I do not like it. At all. For me, The spare on the back was so much better. If weight was the problem…go back down to 35 or 37. But, not my Jeep. Good on you!
I can appreciate this comment!!
@@DIRTROADCRED And I can appreciate your response to it! Healthy respectful discourse is the path to peace!
Kiss those warranty good bye !!! It's a Jeep thing !
Thats one way to correct the unpainted hinges
Hinge delete kit
Not a jeep anymore 😢, more like a buggy 👎🏼
I love it
What is that roof?
Stock soft top!
PAINT MATCH THE TAIL GATE
I swear some people just swap shit just to swap shit, the OG tailgate was perfectly fine. At this point swap the body while you’re at it.
Just YT content is all 😊😊
I’ll answer this same comment now for the third time. I like the tailgate so I installed it. We don’t install parts we don’t want on our jeeps here.
@@DIRTROADCRED I regret selling my 99 Tahoe as it had a tail gate. The new Tahoes do not have tailgates. On my Jeep we have the Goose gear fold down that helps at lunch time.
Matt you have offered Jeepers a lot of content to do or not to do on there Jeeps. To each his or her own. Keep up the good work with your buddy Ryan. Thanks for all your videos, they have helped and educated us on Jeeps. Great for new Jeep owner like us. One day will send you a picture of my wife's Jeep, very impressive.
I’m sorry, you lost me at the 200 pound spare tire that you would have to have 2 people to lift or some sort of a winch mechanism. When I see a UA-cam video where someone buys a new Jeep and immediately trashes everything except the body, I consider it not something I am interested in. I don’t have unlimited UA-cam and Amazon revenue to work with, so this type of build is of no interest to me. I have watched your videos for years, but with this one you have lost me. Best of luck.
We build Jeeps. That’s what we do. This is content for entertainment.
I couldn’t disagree more, this is an awesome series. This is pretty much a build series with tones of great products. No one says you need everything that he has but maybe there is a product you find useful. Keep them coming!
Momma says if you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing at all!
@@DIRTROADCRED I completely understand. I have watched over the years as several other UA-camrs start out as regular guys who go on fun runs with their friends, and all eventually end up building $400,000 Jeeps and sometimes even more. It's all fun to watch, totally out of reach for 99.9993% of regular Jeep owners, though. It becomes just "aspirational viewing", we know we can never afford all this stuff for our own Jeeps. It's just not for us "real world" Jeepers. Sponsorships, give-aways from parts manufacturers, UA-cam ad revenue, Amazon referrals, Patreon, membership fees, a company "hooking us up with their latest gizmo for 'testing'", you name it ,all fund these projects, and some creators are quite up front about that while others are not. You guys are pretty much up-front about that, and I really appreciate that. I sometimes have a problem with the UA-camr who replaces his fridge every few days with the latest/greatest model but never discloses the fact that he neve had to pay a cent for any of them, they were all provided to him free of charge in exchange for his "testing" those fridges and featuring them on his channel. I just ask that all UA-cam creators be honest and up-front with viewers about what they get for free and what they pay for out of their own pockets. That helps us real world viewers understand what could be good for us to do and what is just fluff.
@@toddmiller6630 I have used products seen in UA-cam videos and had them fail because of manufacturing defects and the companies have replaced them. But I guess I should not say anything about those instances in the comments either, because that would be considered saying something "bad", got it.
Tacos 🌮
👍
Thanks for watching!
Won’t you get a ticket with the plate partially blocked I got a ticket like that once the cop said nothing is supposed to cover the place and
The same setup is on the bobbed beds and I have not had one reported issue of a customer getting a ticket and they are all around the US
Please paint match that lol
I clicked so fast 😂
Paint match
Are you paint matching the taillights in bikini or silver? In the taillight video, I thought they’d look sick in bikini but with that silver tailgate, I’m thinking they’d look better in silver. Love seeing you cut up the Jeep to do real mods and not just bolt on stuff!
Doing a mix of bikini and gold!
Yeah I’m agreeing with a lot of comments here. It’s not practical and I’m feeling this is content for contents sake. I’m guessing you got this free and I doubt you’d do it if it cost you thousands of dollars.
I installed the tailgate because I wanted it, not sure why everyone is saying the same comment, I don’t install parts I don’t like on my jeep, and Ryan doesn’t install parts he doesn’t like on his.
@@DIRTROADCRED there’s a reason everyone is saying the same comment bro, it stinks. You want feedback, you got it. Go out there and earn yours.
skip to 13:58 lmao
Y’all’s realize that - TECHNICALLY - it’s illegal to cover over any part of your license plate. Even the little tabs, the part that obscures the full name of the state will make you eligible for an obscured plate ticket and give a police officer reason enough to search your vehicle. It sucks, but don’t ask why I know…
But, I sure as heck do like the drop down tailgate. Almost did it to one of my YJ’s but sold it first.
lol if I get pulled over for that I’ll let you know, some of the rules get out of hand….
That used to be a beautiful jeep, but know it's officially a crap magnet. Too much is too much. A real roll cage, lose the rear bumper. It looked way better with the factory fenders, which pop off if you hit them while out wheeling. Make a jeep as lite as possible that tailgate is ugly. Corner armor brilliant, not, instead of denting the Corner lip know you will shove the Corner lip up into the body causing more damage just like the aftermarket fenders.
I’m happy with the jeep I’m building, and that’s what matters, we are not saying you need to build yours this way, just showing you what we are doing
Definitely a waste of money. Where is the spare go, and what kind of contraption are you coming up with now lol ?
The spare will be relocated/ used for longer trips
Yeah that tailgate looks terrible.
That license plate set up is a big stop sign for me. Looks way too painful to have to take that on and off. Otherwise tailgate looks great. I just wouldn’t buy one.
man you yap a lot
Thanks for watching
Need to color match the tailgate and fenders man…. Otherwise why did you choose to go with the bikini color??? Also, do you no longer carry a spare tire???
Good idea, have some plans for the spare
