  • I installed a Graph Tech Tusq XL string tree on my Fender Player Series Stratocaster (Strat) with vintage style (two post) tremolo. It seems to be the last ingredient in mix to help keep this guitar in tune! This string tree also fits Telecasters (Teles), Jazzmasters, and many other guitars.

Cool... I have one ordered & can't wait to install. FYI: the old standard metal "butterfly" trees actually can have little spacers under them; one short, one tall... but the angle is still more than it needs to me. I wish they made one with 3 string slots on one Tusq tree, cause I'm really just needing a little pressure on my G string to tame the buzz a little. All good!

I wonder if it reduces metallic resonant sounds - buzzes that sometimes occur. Seems to me that especially on strats, the g string tends to have that annoying sitar -ish buzzing. Man, that annoys me so much. All grades of strats seem to have that issue -Squiers to MIM's to Am Standards. ..But this looks like is helps on the strings that typically pass through those cheap tin string trees. I think I am going to give then a shot. I don't think they look so bad..

Thanks for the comment and good observation. It's a cheap modification and easy to reverse, so worth a try. I have kind of gotten used to the way it looks too.

Thanks Dave. It's a TC Electronic UniTune that I've been very happy with. I have a white one and a black one, but prefer the white one because the spring is not as stiff. I think both Fender and Squires have the same stock trees

I think it should work fine on your Squier.

These trees can be installed without drilling further into headstock?

I installed this one without redrilling, with no problem. They come with a couple of different length screws so I think they could be installed on most guitar without redrilling.
