When ya 1st started talking bout 'when its finished' i was like noooo it has to stay the way it is.. so im glad you both later on said it should stay like that 👍but i do think he should get rid of the cage and go back to standard seats... would be good weight loss and much more of a sleeper ❤

i ended up not running it due to the clutch starting to slip, so its still unknown how fast it actually is over the 1/4 mile, hopefully get a chance this year to see what she can do

I had a H reg 1.2 red nova with the 3 spoke alloy wheels and red painted centre caps, I eventually wrote it off doing reverse donuts in a small car park... I remember on cold mornings I used to have to brake with the hand brake at the end of my street as the engine would cut out if I took my foot off the accelerator.
The most fun I've ever had in cars has been in 2ltr novas.
Scary as hell but so much fun.
Had 3 novas over my time , a 1.2 swing, a 1.3 sr and a 1.6 gsi. Would have any of them back in a heartbeat. 😍👍
Marty Crush I miss mine , I had a 1.3 4 door saloon a 1.3 sr and a 1.6 GTE . My sr was absolutely immaculate as well ,wish I'd have kept them

My fav car I ever owned was my Nova Sport, loved it.
My mate also had a Nova Sport around 1992 I had a Renault 5GTT at the time. Today’s cars don’t even come close for simple fun like back then

Set the scene; was riding my old specialized push bike with my mate Matt. We were half way back to the village I used to live in and low and behold, it was parked up on the right, in a lay-by, pull in place. There was a nova sport with tarpauling all over it. Police signs saying to stay away et cetera but me and Matt were intrigued, both knowing how rare and special the sport model was AND still is, more so - to this day. Rare as rocking horse shit these days. The one we came across looked a bit worse for wear, windscreen was smashed as well as each window to boot. Someone probably took it for a joyride and crashed it, then pushed the car to the lay-by. It looked like a good example but for the smashed windows. Wish it was 1998 again and I was 14 or 15!!! Best days of my life
Mate had a mint nova built to look like a sport running 500 odd brake has to be one of the most nuts cars I've been in in my life . 👌
In the mid 90s I use to drive my Renault 5GTT to work and always passed a grey Nova GSI going the other way... it had 2.0 turbo and later it became pink. It was actually featured in a Nova shoot out in Max Power and I believe it was the second fastest one out of the bunch.

That flex on the door at the end lol, they go well enough with just a redtop and not stripped out, my first car was a nova then a few cars later i had a mk3 astra gsi with a c20let in the early 2000's and that was a very quick car back in the day, my friend also had both gte's and another a cavilver turbo

I drove a G plate GSi back in the late nineties and they're a good laugh. Torque steer was pretty bad but that can be said of any FWD high performance car of that era. You just don't see them much anymore.
This most be the only G reg nova still alive! There just rusted like there was no tomorrow

Bit of fun to be had in that thing for sure. If I were to go lighter I would definitely pull that sunroof out and bond a carbon roof on. Carbon / fibreglass floor too. You can get fibreglass rear quarters if I remember also. What do they handle like with that extra weight up front. Suppose it’s a straight line toy really. Glad you’ve got a cage in. Always worth it.
they dont handle as good as they do with the original engine, but in a straight line its pure adrenaline

For weight saving take a look at grass track cars bud.there all space framed out in the back so cage is joined to bottom space frame to hold strength etc.sound build once done whatever he ends up doing!!

If you want less weight use a circular cutter inside all non structural pannels ie like aircraft frames.

I had a 1.3 on a H did 130mph from standard, next best thing to a Caterham I've every driven never did a thing to it.

I remember my mate getting one of them and I had a vauxhall cavalier Sri valve a guvnor we use to call the cavalier any way we use to pick up are girls in them but him being stupid put a roll age in his so no room in it for no one lol 😂😂😂 funny as hell when he pulled up with a roll cage as if he was going off road after a few weeks of no one being able to get in his car he took it out this video brings back memories 👍
I really think an NA is a far better choice in these over turbo'd ones, especially if they've been boosted up. Those turbo ones look barely drivable as the boost comes in and just lights the tyres up. With a decently tuned NA it would be far more useable and controllable. The Nova is a light car standard, so shaving more off and giving the engine a bit of attention makes far more sense for a fun and rapid motor.
Yeah it depends on what your using it for, NA ones are really good for trackdays and stuff, I just want to build a crazy high power nova

Remember F20,F28,F23 ETC gearboxes have numbers in torque like F23=230 Torque it can handle. VXR M32 box means 320nm so he has F20 in this Nova thats 200nm surely the Nova pushing out more than 200nm.
i thought my old m8s nova with a calibra dropped in it the pipes cut into the floor inside and boxed in a fully flat under car and splitter that was tuned to 310bhp and he sold it but this one is fully crazy half the weight of my m8s motor

NEVER cut the boot, the spare wheel well is there for added strength, Lose the glass for poly carbonate or perspex side windows and rear. Thats a lot more weight right there then what a piece of boot well will amount to,

ive got the fibreglass tailgate ready to fit, novas arent very common with tilt n slide sunroof, plus no air con/ nonwindy down windows, full road car driven across country in summer. sunroof is a must
