You dad was the last voice my own father heard as he passed away. My Dad always said his 2 favorite songs were your Dad's "Buon Natale" and Sinatra's "My Way". As my Dad took his last breaths, we held the cell phone to his ear and played "Buon Natale". When we did, a single tear rolled down from his right eye into his right ear and he gently passed away. Blessings to a life well lived, and to the life long memories and the countless lives he hour father touched.
That was a beautiful tribute. You have a great voice on your own. I've always loved Jimmy Roselli, snd I'm thankful to have come scross your tribute. Thank you for posting.
I took Mr R to lunch in da Vinci restaurant in Hoboken when u were very young. He had the house on Paterson plank rd. Gave me some cds and sang in my car. Magic. 👍👍👍
Sunday mornings Jimmy blasting from the stereo ( a huge piece of furniture), while grandma’s frying meatballs…. My entire family together. Now, my kids Listen to Jimmy when they cook on Sunday… The 4 th generation of Jimmy Roseli lovers. I’m sure she knows how loved he is loved ❤️🇮🇹🎶🎵🎶
Jimmy Roselli was a wonderful singer, amazing vocal range and such passion when singing especially in Italian, the best singer to come out of Hoboken, what a talent! ❤
I'm ninety-three, an Australian. I grew up in the era of melodious songs but I only discovered your father's beautiful voice a few years ago. You have a lovely voice also. They don't compose songs like that anymore.
Nobody Comes Close To Jimmy Roselli ! Nobody ! Mulberry St . Italian Americans love Jimmy Roselli ! Ann , Thank You So Much ! I Will Not Eat At Any Restaurant in The Neighborhood Without Jimmy Roselli On DVD . 👍🇮🇹🗽🇺🇸 Best loving Regards ! Pete .☺️🎶
Loved this tribute. I saw your dad many many years ago at a supper club with my parents in Queens somewhere on Queens Blvd if I remember correctly. He had an amazing voice. I’m 75 yo and still listen to his cds both Italian and his saloon song albums. He was the best.
First time I've seen this tribute to Jimmy Roselli by his daughter- it's absolutely beautiful and his daughter as her father has a beautiful singing voice..... I didn't come across the great voice of Jimmy Roselli until several years ago on itunes- I was putting together a playlists os some of the great standards of the 20th century/American Songbook- I had heard of him but didn't know what he sounded like & then late one night I listened to some cuts from Jimmy's Live at Carnnege Hall Album & immediately became a FAN!! I especially love Jimmy Roselli's vocal interpretation/treatment of "If I Had You" I consider that song a Michael-angelo in Song Composition, Music & Lyrics & Jimmy Roselli Climbs inside it So Beautifully & makes it His Own!! So Tasty & Delicious..... & once again such a beautiful tribute here by his loving very talented daughter, Anne
I love when this tribute pops up! That’s my Mom, Rose Woods, with Jimmy’s grandson, in the picture he is holding. Mom was the president of his fan club! Mom loved going to all his concerts and being invited backstage to meet with Jimmy’s family and friends. I now have all the CDs.
One of my favorite performers growing up. Even though I was very young I went to see him with my family in person many times. My dad and I always sang together to his songs. I continued singing and when I hear his music it always brings back wonderful memories.
Very nice, been a fan of Jimmy Roselli since I was a young boy growing up in the 60's.All the great singers Sinatra,Bennett, Vale etc. had NOTHING on this guy and to this day he is the least known of them all. I guess you can thank "old blues eyes for that" He was the best of them all !!! People should read his book Making The Wiseguy's Weep..
He used to come to the bank where I worked as a teller. I was so new and he gave me a record. It seems like it was yesterday, It was 36 years ago. I remember his wife too.
one of the all time greats. and he was always in a class by himself. my only regret is that for a number of reasons many dont know that. i wish they did, because the man deserved that . sleep in heavenly peace jimmy .
to some degree yes, without a doubt. i loved frank as i loved jimmy. when frank died i called in sick and drove to his birth place in hoboken just to be with others like me. when jimmy died i think he was in florida. but i drove to jersey holy cross cemetery when he was laid to rest to pay my respects...frank could be both an angel and a devil. but jimmy also created problems for himself, and he was somewhat self destructive. and like frank, he did it his way and he was willing to pay the price and his career paid the price. . and that was something he should have had better control of. read the book, making the wise guys weep by david evanier, it explains it in more detail.he has also witten books on tony bennet and bobby darin among others .his books are well written and worth reading.
I grew up in 1970's Brooklyn listening to Jerry on all the big holidays and had the good fortune of getting to see him in the early 90's It's unfortunate that Sinatra was a nasty guy who really did Jerry dirty!!!, you'd think that he would look out for a piason', maybe he was jealous of him because his mother loved his Italian singing and Sinatra couldn't sing a lick of Italian 😮
Your voice made me think of DINAH WASHINGTON who used to sing that song.Your father was certainly as good as many of his generation. He belongs in the league just like AL MARTINO,JERRY VALE or DEAN MARTIN.
I want to thank each and every one of you for loving my dad's amazing voice an the loving andmicon that he was as 2ell the best daddy in the woid mud worlds
Anne your father was, and still is such a talented singer-Better than Sinatra and Jerry Vale! And so are you!! Saturday mornings growing up, my Calabrese grandmother would put on your dads records and sing and clean (and cook also, of course) to his songs. When I hear him sing, it brings back such fond childhood memories BUT there are two songs he sang that I can't find-one was just Torna-not return to Sorrento- Torna sta casa spetta te, Torna che smanie te vette e torna torna torna ca sinchi torna tu nucha lassama qui. And another song that began (and PLEASE excuse my spelling I never learned how to write in Italian) Ma pe che, ma pe che ma lassada men dre morra sta notta pe te. My mom's two favorite songs but I don't know the names-i listened to all the Italian songs on youtube but couldn't find those two-if you could help, that would be great-mille grazie!
