It's been revealed that their business license has been suspended/foreited for tax evasion. Also they best watch out because their giveaways a lot of times break the law in that they require purchase of something from their site. Also the way he changed the rules mid-giveaway violates california law and is corporate fraud.

It's actually illegal to run a giveaway in the United States that requires a financial transaction to enter lmao. Even when a company like Kellogs has a giveaway they have to put in the small print a way to win without buying the cereal, so the moment he brought money up, he created a new crime for himself

I really hate to make so many posts dissing Discount Starlord, but I really want to know if he knows what a CEO is, if his IQ is room temperature, and so on. Our boy here somehow missed the laws around giveaways which I bet even children can understand. I'm willing to even believe the whole tax evasion thing has more to do with him being stupid more than it being on purpose

@@miguelzurita3216 The concept is straightforward, but I don't think most people know all the technicalities and laws around them. The most obvious thing is to not go back on the agreement once it's been made.
@@promethium-145 thats all there really is to it. These things are all built around a contract, and Artesian decided to break that contract to who knows how many people. Another thing thats required by law is that giveaways arent allowed to exclude people. Every giveaway has a no purchase necessary clause for that reason. Quite literally you can be an average Joe who never even bothered with Artesian and still be allowed to participate in the giveaway. All im saying is I dont know how Artesian didn't know this, but then again they also have some shacky things going on with their taxes, so it just might be ran by people who cant run a company

Their prices aren't even that competitive. For example their Elite gaming pc costs $2500 and comes with a 10700k Intel cpu and an RTX 3060 which is way too expensive imo. Build Redux will put together a pc with the same cpu and an RTX 3080 for $2400 or slot a 3060Ti instead for $1999 which is a better gaming pc than Artisan Build's.

I am a community manager at an organization that trains veterans in entry level tech jobs.
We bought a $6k gaming rig for a deserving veteran in the UK.... it took 5+ months to build the PC and during their streams they accept donations OR subs to upgrade parts as they build the PC's
They forgot to install the NVME WHICH WE PAID FOR and the veterans community gifted subs to upgrade the ram from 16->32 ... artesian never installed it.
And now no word from them at all...
man reading this broke my heart. if the vet has not gotten the PC, im not a content creator but id love to build a nice (working) rig for the person for free

Anyway with this veteran I created an event where I got my company to come along as a style of flash mob into his Twitch stream, 200+ of us. Just thanked him for his service and building an epic community etc... and he was raising money for a PC so we just bought it for him (Really fun emotional event). He requested his PC be purchased from Artesian as he was an ambassador with them.
Anyway 100's of emails and MONTHS of waiting they finally scheduled his build, (I could have flown to the UK and bought/built this thing in a weekend 😂)
When they streamed the build of the PC I made an event out of it with HIS community and my company so we were having fun shooting the sh*t and never even noticed they didnt install the nvme OR install the extra ram that he got from everyone donating to the Artesian stream.
When his PC came it didnt turn on and he couldnt figure out why...(They didnt install the NVME with the OS on it...) and hes not much of a PC person so his community watched the VoD over n over and realized they just simply didnt install all the parts. And it was a F**KING Struggle to prove it... where they could just watch their own VoD and see they didnt even install it.... Anyway they are gone now so thats that sadly

@@creativecorner2071 Minors are treated differently in giveaways, competitions, etc. As some else had said though, it should have gone to your parents, I'm not familiar with your situation or the rules around the golf competition you were in, nor am I legal expert (legally speaking)
As for the streamers who won, but were denied their prizes that's illegal, it violates basically all the laws around how giveaways are suppose to work. Giveaways have very simple rules to follow, that's how clear lawyers have made it over the years, and yet somehow it seems discount Starlord has either missed or ignored the most basic interpretations around them, maybe all their money went into making overpriced PCs or into a team of lawyers just waiting for someone to come-a-knocking

(for context a 10th gen i3 and 1650 was priced on their site for $2000+)
When I asked about this they berated me saying I was dumb and that I have no idea the price of hardware.
They also said they need commission for their employees and taxes (which they clearly weren't even paying)
Hilarious considering hardware is my bread and butter and the same system wouldn't hit $1000 with paying a company to build it with warrantee.

Yup, i build computers for a living and I sure don't have the markup these guys do. I even include free installation at people's home/office and I am waaaay cheaper.
My build isn't perfect and i don't think it' up to standard, but it has been playing all the games i bought with no issues. My PC is a refurbished three-hundred something dollar pc.

@@DoctorWhom I think them going bankrupt fast, seeing their world crumble around them, losing their money and assets, probably having to face the banks and the law (tax evasion, etc etc), struggling because no more revenue, knowing they probably couldn't build up a similar company because their name is now blacklisted, and I could go on ... I do think that's worse than still being able to scrape by for 10 years. Them going bankrupt would still take months anyways, leaving them more than enough time to regret being such a douchebag.

I was working at a music store that's pretty big in Australia recently and they found the influencer with the most likes to give a guitar away to. I helped make marketing material for the giveaway just for them to rig it last minute. I was hyped to give away a nice guitar to a beginner or maybe someone less fortunate and was so disappointed. Quit shortly after.
What I find hilarious is, I’ve been dealing with tech stuff for over 20 years and I’ve never even heard of these guys.

I tried to sit through their streams at some point just for the giveaways. Yeah, the guy was pretty insufferable. Always doing bad impressions and acting like they were the best in the world when it was just plain annoying.

If a sweepstakes or giveaway is requiring an entity to be subscribed to a channel, it is not legal. Subscriptions to a channel require payment, for example. If a sweepstakes requires bits to be donated on Twitch, it is likely an illegal lottery
while it might not be sub's only in his channel, i feel the "affiliate" is a way to circumvent, and seeing as he want's nothing but clicks of people buying product's from these people joining it, to have a certain number threshold etc.

The legality of this is obvious, I think Discount Starlord is just too dense to not know what the laws around giveaways are, maybe that's why his company is being accused of tax evasion too.
So you can hate or pity Discount Starlord even more, allow me to tell you how a giveaway works in the simplest way. You enter it at no charge and you have a chance at winning. Discount Starlord was charging people it seems to enter the giveaway, and adding on top of that was deciding if you deserved the prize or not, that's illegal. Even if he didn't call it a giveaway I'm willing to believe it has to be defined in some other way by the FTC, and still if he picked and chose who the winners were it would be illegal, because the who point of giving something away is by skill like in a competition (which they should have done if they wanted to pick and chose who the winners were) or by chance like in a lottery or giveaway.

I had actually just recently unfollowed Artesian before all this new drama. A streamer I watch, Admiral Bahroo, got a pc from them months ago that basically bit the bullet and couldn't even run the software for his Vtuber avatar. He's since got a new pc that works but man, this company besides having shit community relations also has some pretty shit computers.

I'd be shocked if their warranty didn't cover that. Unless that streamer got it for free and they don't do warranties for those maybe.
His behavior and mindset is just a product of the messaging that social media constantly sends: you only have value if you're popular. Which I guess is no different than the social dynamic we had pre-internet (popular kids get more opportunities than unpopular ones), except that you didn't get shamed for it in front of potentially millions of people worldwide back then.
The worst part is that the teachers that not only allows the bullying yet will suspend or expel your for defending yourself, family members (if in the same school) and/or friends.

I do agree that you gotta have some level of following for a brand deal, especially when being given a product. It's a business transaction. You are getting a computer, they are getting mass exposure and advertising. The problem here is they acted like anyone could win one, but then pulled the rug out when a small person won.

@@_Ekaros I think you've read the comment wrong. Nitro said "insane endorsement", not that they would get an insane, defined boost in their sales. The small creator getting big, partly thanks to the "better" PC, would be thankful for the company, develop trust, and would warmly recommend the company to their fanbase. As a viewer, if the creator I'm watching is passing along good vibes like that when talking about a brand that helped them, I might be more inclined to buy from them than if it was a simple sponsored video.
In the long term, giving a PC now to a small creator and building relationships is an investment for the future. There is no fixed number, and handpicking who you partner with is your responsibility as you have to check if the person is active or not, type of content, etc, but current numbers don't matter much since everyone starts small, improves, etc.
It's comparable to, instead of someone stealing things in a bunch of houses, yes you'd get good bucks fast, but if you become good friends with the families instead, you might get more in the end in services, gifts, help if needed, etc. Steal my wallet with 10 bucks in and you'll never get anything from me, but be my friend and I wouldn't mind lending you a hundred bucks. Relations.

Getting something for free isn't necessary, the point is to build a healthy business relationship, and that can be accomplished by, in a PC business, selling a PC at a discount price in exchange of endorsement, future profits via the links, and an overall growth of business for both parties.
And to be fair they willingly created giveaways, so I suppose they must have had seen the benefits too, going as far as to give PCs to their partners.
I agree that paying someone solely on visibility isn't a good option as it's often an argument used to extort people. But it's also true that relations help a lot. That's why a compromise is often the option sought for both parties. Everyone wants to profit off of business relations, and there's often a solution that will satisfy most, if everyone agrees to lend some grounds first.
If you want an example of how can visibility, not even given, but bought, can work, look no further than ads. Be it on TV or on the Internet, businesses give money for their ads to be shown, and sometimes, especially on big TV channels or shoutouts in big UA-camrs' videos, can be quite expensive. If you think about it, giving a PC to someone so that they can endorse your brand works as the ad fee businesses usually give.

the reason why many companies allow anyone to be partner with them is because many of those partners will drive free visits to the company and each one personally will be lower than the minimum of revenue withdrawal, so basically they get clicks for free and don't have to pay the small creators.

I found you recently and love you! This was like a personal jab; I actually felt this. These guys are so mean it's defeating. I have an even smaller channel than her. I do tons of original art that the followers I do have love. Sometimes it's just hard for some of us to grow. Hearing them go through and just completely trash all her socials, making it seem that humans are worth no more than a number, just makes me want to not try anymore.
MetaPCs is better. They wouldn't screw you over because of your follower count.

These days you can make the most amazing and thought out content, have lots of talent, put passion and love into it, yet still end up at 100 subs for a long time. It's all about marketing, collabs, promotion these days in order to climb the ladder and raise the count. There's just way too many people doing the same thing now and it's all oversaturated.
Really happy to see OTK (who played a big part in putting the Artisan Builds name out there) decided to part ways with them.
I was debating about buying a PC from them or well having them build one for me until I saw this video. I think I'll take my needs elsewhere or build my own PC at that.

For the most part it seems, sadly. Xidax treated me well as a customer and they have giveaways with DonutOperator and Brandon Herrera right now, but I've heard shady shit about them as well. Edit: I bought from them before the aforementioned shady shit, and before any partnerships, right after they first popped on the scene though.

I tried to get a free PC through them since mine was stolen as a way to rebuild goodwill and they blocked me.
As someone who has 240 subs, which for me is an amazing number, this hurts me plenty. No one should be ashamed of how subs of views they get. I put a lot of effort into my videos and I get an average of 15 views and you know what? Those are 15 people who took time out of their day to look at my dumb content. For me those 15 views and 240 subs are everything to me and the whole reason why I create content on UA-cam. This is outright disgusting.
