Great video - that bolt at the back to get the air filter housing off had me almost in tears...really really tough.
I am in tears :-( How did you get the little bast*rd out ? my fingers are in bits , the only 10T I have is much too big to get in that gap ..I've been hours at it 😞
Extremely detailed and bloody good tutorial. Going out this weekend feeling pretty confident. Always had petrols and this is the first diesel beemer I've owned. Many thanks. Really helpful
Can't thank you enough for such a great, extremely helpful and straight forward video. Thank you!
Very good video a good lesson to service the 7 series diesel well done my friend
Great video, thanks. I've been removing my pollen filters and upper firewall to replace my air filter, this will be much easier going forward....
My new fuel filter usually comes with a little flat rubber washer that goes between the filter and the rear (big) fitting.
My car takes around 7.5 to 8.0 litres of oil to get it to max in the iDrive screen.
Thank you for your service.
😂😂😂
Thank you really helpful
You're welcome! 👍🤓
The one at the back of the air filter is a PITA.
its very bad to do right ? Have to do this next time :D
Merci beaucoup 👍
i do the same thing with my used oil filter and i like how bmw uses all those covers underneath the vehicle to protect against the elements, but it does look a little annoying to remove and put back.
The car is surprisingly clean behind the plastics, the brake lines still look brand new so there is a benefit to it! I agree it is a little annoying having to remove it all!
I seem to remember my E92 fuel filter was a lot easier...But have to say BM's are fairly simple to work on ..
Very true, everything comes apart so easily and goes back together easily too!
Fantastic video- many thanks. Been thinking about one of these for ages- has it been reasonably trouble free? Thanks
I have an issue with the Dynamic Drive that has been hanging around for ages but otherwise yeah pretty reliable! 👌
On the oil filter cover: first I clean it with brake cleaner, when assembled with the new filter I lubricate with new oil where it is necessary.
Plus don't forget to reset the oil life interval (in the "secret" menu)
I did a video on that very thing!
@@KevsShed Thank you Kev, looking for it. Do you have anything about changing the oil separator as I plan to change it next time?
Yes mate, have a look through my videos, did a vid on that about 2 months ago! 👍🏻
In fact, here you go 👍🏻 Replacing The Crankcase Oil Breather Valve On The BMW 3, 5 & 7 Series and BMW X3 & X5
@@KevsShed I did, subscribed and already found some very useful! Thanks for your time!
Hi i got problem with BMW E 65 2007 740 i 160.000 km original ,but automatic do last service on 97.000 km ,hard shifting do you have any idea what is problem thanks.
Awesome video, I have a question about coolant quantity required in E65 730LD
It was approx 10 litres altogether mate
@@KevsShed Thanks my friend
I just purchased a 730d 2006. What's that exhaust around diesel filter ?
I think you mean the webasto heater exhaust.
Decent clip👍 but I spotted halfords oil... there are better ones for same price :) 👍
It was free so I used it! You don't get a better price than that! Besides, Halfords own brand oil is made by Comma Lubricants! 👍
How do you prime the fuel system after the fuel filter replacement?
Simply by turning on the ignition, the lift pump in the tank will push fuel through the filter up to the HPFP 👍🏻
@@KevsShed thanks for the answer, i just replaced fuel supply pump and fuel filter, then turn on the ignition and the fuel supply pump starts, and I hear that the fuel system is vented, but the pump does not stop, it seems that it cannot achieve the required pressure before starting the engine, because it did before, what do you think the problem can be?
Bonjour;
Pourquoi ne pas avoir changer le déshuileur en changeant le filtre à air? Il est juste en dessous et vaut une dizaine d'euro?
Vidéo sympa tout de même.
Merci.
I did, in a separate video :)
@@KevsShed Merci.
May I ask what year your car is? I have a 2008 3ltr diesel due for servicing, and keen to do it myself.
Mine is a 2005, so it’ll be the same model 👌🏻
I also have a video on how to reset the on dash warnings too 👍🏻
I have the same car i just change engine oil and filters Castrol 5&30 but the oil stick shows little bit lower than normal i put 7 litres ??
What does the oil level say on the idrive?
@@KevsShed It says max and when i drive little bit it is in 3 blocks but i change it before 10 minutes
Whel it sey 8.25l
www.google.com/amp/s/oil-change.info/bmw-7-series-e65-e66-2001-2008-engine-oil-capacity/%3famp
@@malisa5211 I think those oil quantities have incorrectly been quoted as the total oil required when rebuilding a dry engine. If you put 8.25 litres in then it will be way over the upper limit. You are much better off putting in a little at a time and checking before topping it up.
What about gearbox service
I could do a video of the gearbox oil replacement if people would like me to do one! 👍
@@KevsShed
That's will be interesting
Is that Car really that unrealiable as people say im thinking to get one from 2008 with 94.000 Miles
It’s an electrical nightmare but mechanically they are fantastic and this Diesel engine is bombproof. If you are able to carry out diagnostic functions yourself then ownership is easy. If you need to take it to a dealer every time there is an electrical issue you’ll never be out of there!
@@KevsShed hi thanks a Lot for the reply..and advise i will think about that, i tought The facelift Models dont have that much electrical issue. Also nice Video very helpful and clear for doing it yourself.
At The Moment i have The w221 s class from 2007, its also very nice Car but i have The known issue with the coolant oil leak, at least BMW does Not have this problem
Yea evry dey somthing new new light on panel 😂😂😂
@@malisa5211 True story buddy! :)
@MBCar freak if you manage to find your self a well sorted out example go for it 2007/8 is a good model year as the i drive got a much needed update and new lci headlights and electronically it became more reliable by a fair margin in comparison to pre-facelift/ pre-Lci model. A code reader would be handy as its a german car both benz and bmw like to throw up random codes sometimes, just good to have if your going to potentially buy one.
How often you change oil?
I change the oil in my cars every year, regardless of mileage done. 👍
